Chapter 82: Chapter 82: Auction (2):

The plan was set in place. Sir James had begun running back to the palace city to get help and we were going to slip in and save everyone as well as collect information.

As soon as we entered the door a man created us. he looked at us up and down and couldn't understand the way our group was made up. Brandon and Christopher sort of looked like an adult yet the rest of us don't. "Sir, this is because?" the man asked. "It's just magic to disguise our actual age," I replied "Now hurry up and take us inside a room,". I acted as if I knew this place and was an old customer. "Yes, my lady," he agreed and brought us upstairs.

I didn't think it would work this well, but what can I say? I really am a good actress. As we walked upstairs Christopher gave me a thumbs up and I almost laughed out loud.

The man brought us into the room called the hellish devil and seated us down. "My lady please look through this list. It's the list of people being sold," he mumbled. I picked the manual and flipped through the pages. Each of the manuals had ornaments written on them. If I hadn't asked someone to go inside and check the things being sold I would have been convinced that it was just an ordinary auction.

As I flipped to one page. I noticed that his name was written on it with a jade stone as the picture. It was Jason. But why was he here? I remember in the book this auction will be closed down by the Grand Duke, a few years later. I only remembered Jason because he was the person who accompanied me to my exile. He was Damian's loyal knight.

The other names were also familiar now. With this relationship, I realised that Damian had gotten most of his knights from here. I suppose Uncle Robert gave them to Damian for his safeguarding. I guess I can make use of this point. I can take them and make them become my own knights. Perhaps this will ensure other enemies are taken down.

"Madam, which one would you want?" Christopher asked. We had agreed that we would disguise ourselves as just friends.

I pointed to all of the boys as the assistant wrote down their numbers. I don't know why and I didn't ask. As soon as we chose, the assistant left the room.

The previous auction before we arrived was just selling females. The following auction will sell males.

"Wow Camila," whispered Brandon. As I laughed. I mean we are acting. This was something I am very good at. "Why are all the ones you chose males?" questioned Christopher as I glared at him whilst ignoring his question.

The people who started the auction were very careful and smart. This isn't a good thing. Actually, I know who the head is. The book stated it. It was a merchant who took the men/ women sold by their parents to this auction. Or others were prisoners of war. Although the capital was rich, other places were not so much. The manual only had old objects and a name on top of it. If I hadn't asked someone to go inside and check, I would have believed that this was a normal auction.

I placed my bid on all of the males and won 10/20. To be honest I was just biding to pay off time. I wasn't actually going to pay so it didn't matter what number I was shouting out. It was really skyrocketing prices. Most people didn't want to continue whilst others were not afraid of wasting money.

At the end of the auction, the knights had still not arrived. Perhaps they were hiding to catch the merchants in action. Brandon and Christopher followed me downstairs to take the 'items' and give me the money. As soon as we entered downstairs I noticed a lot of things. Such as the only light source was the candles from the side of the wall, the whole room was practically dark. The 'items' were in chained cages. One of the assistants handed me the keys of 10 people's cages and my face darkened. I mean even if they are lowly people they shouldn't be kept in cages like this right?

What was going on in places like this?
