Chapter 24: Chapter 23:Genocide

Minor question, is this phrase really strong cliche? 'We are not so different you are I'

Other than this please enjoy!

————————————————————————————————————

The fight proved to be devastating, and it was not a pleasant experience. Many people died and a lot of tears were shed. But it didn't mean that this was the end of the journey.

August already knew what his next move should be. He should not hesitate about it.

But it was not an end. Baron walked out of the house, along with his guards and a mage escorting him.

He looked unmoved by the situation and calmly looked around muttering something to himself.

Vesemir dashed at the Baron, with his sword ready to kill the man, but the guards stopped him, Baron looked in the eyes of the Witcher and said "O brave witcher, you defended the village" He took a small leather pouch and threw in of the ground "Here is your pay"

Vesemir gritted his teeth and was about to try and kill a man, but before he could do that baron said "Before you do any move, Witcher, remember of your students that lie there, weak and exhausted. Do you think you can save them all?"

Vesemir had to make a choice, he was a good fighter, but not someone who could stand his ground against a group of guards and sorcerers and defend others. He knew, that even if he would be the one to win, his students won't make it out alive.

Reluctantly, he picked up the money and carried one of his students that had no power to move away from the village. Others went along.

All of them had one common thought, but at the same time, none of them was ready to die just yet.

August was boiling. He tried so hard to fight and kill as many creatures as he could to save his brothers, but it was not enough. He had to be stronger or much more clever. At the same second this thought crossed his mind, he had a plan.

He was not ready to kill the entire village, but those who were responsible for the creatures that were created and attacked the village had no chance of redemption.

Vesemir group walked out of the village and made a small camp. There were too many injured ones, they all required help, but staying even for a minute in the village proved to be a dangerous activity.

August, despite his injuries, started to assemble a small alchemy laboratory and started to brew concentrated extract of the plant he gathered before the fight.

It was one of the plants that helped to heal the injuries and increase natural regeneration.

It took him an hour to finish and apply all the medicine to his brothers. At this point, there is nothing more he could do. The only other medicines all of them needed were time and luck.

Nighttime approached and everyone went to sleep, but August could not. He felt responsible to avenge fallen ones.

While everyone slept, he went into the forest and started collecting herbs, mushrooms and leaves that he could use to create something that will do the job for him.

During heavy Injuries of everyone in the group, they were forced to stay in the camp for at least a week, and every night, when the moon walk her path through the sea of stars, August would work, hours upon hours, creating his weapon.

During his 6th night, he finished. All he had to do now, is to deliver his weapon to the place where it should be applied.

During the daytime, he behaved normally. He knew that not all of them will approve of his methods and not all of them would agree. So he kept his plan hidden from others.

When the stars started to show up in the sky when the moon started her journey through the night sky, he was ready to go; he was ready to show them how does it feel to be desperate.

But when he was about to set on his way, he saw Vesemir sitting on the log and looking at the sky.

Without looking in the August direction, Vesemir asked, "Are you sure that you want to take such a huge sin upon yourself?"

August stayed silent, not knowing what to answer. He made his decisions long ago. He will walk the path of many sins, that others will not be able to understand and imagine. Over the years, his experience showed him a simple truth.

There is only one way that people in power realize this. Way of violence.

August replied with a stern voice, "I set on the sail toward this path long ago"

Vesemir sighed looking towards August "Do what you deem worth it"

This got August surprises. He looked at Vesemir and inquired, "You won't oppose?"

Vesemir slightly chuckled saying "August, I will not teach you with my own values. My brothers' and my values were too old for this world. I'm the only one to survive from the old generation. Choose your own path, that you will walk, no matter success or failure."

August nodded his head and set on the path.

He travelled all night, wasting no time for breaks he needed to arrive as soon as possible.

It took him several hours, but there in the distance, he saw it. Castle Rissberg.

Rissberg castle near Mount Cremora. Embedded in a rock wall, with light-coloured walls, with four towers and decorative turrets.

Wasting no time, August sneaked inside and started his search. He went around the city, avoiding anyone that was not sleeping.

After an hour of time searching, he found what he was looking for.

Water supply is the one and the only thing that everyone in this castle use.

Without a single thought of hesitation, he dissolved all the poison he had in the water. With nobody noticing him, he made his way out.

Giving his last gaze in the direction of the castle, he said, "This is a price you are paying for the deaths of my brothers and for their dreams never fulfilled."

He made his way back to the camp.

The next day promised nothing bad. Sorcerers of the castle continued their research that involved human experimentation and Chimera creation.

During the day, people kept on living until the genocide started.

People started to die like flies. Rissberg was a home for 18 master's sorcerers and over 80 adepts and apprentices that live there. There was a community of clandestine sites of unethical experimentation. Their ways were taboo among mages, therefore they were not accepted in the Brotherhood and had to form their own community.

This day will be recorded in history as a fall of those that cross a line. The day when such a place that Rissberg ceases to exist.

Judgment day.

Nobody had a clue about water being poisoned since there were no traits left. August knew that he had to be cautious. He could not allow others to expose himself and created a poison that will no longer work after a week of time.

Erasing all the doubts and all the hints that could lead to the discovery of the poison.

August returned to his brothers, feeling no remorse for what he did. In fact, it felt good, erasing someone like them from the face of the continent.

This was his first big deed, but it won't be the last.

But those events will take place in the far future.
