Chapter 1: Court
"The witness may now enter."
Every eye followed her as she walked to the front of the court and took her seat. By 'her', I mean Dina Valentiana. She was Alexis' best friend and defendant witness for this case. Alexis Junes was being accused of murdering nineteen 20-year-old men the month before because of some 'grudge'. Dina wholeheartedly believed that Alexis would never do such a thing, even if one of his closest family members were killed.
"Ms. Valentiana, would you prefer to take an oath to tell the truth or make an affirmation to do so." The judge was a serious old man that made Dina shudder, but she composed herself. "I will be taking an oath to tell the truth." The judge signaled for her to start so she put her hand in the Bible and said, "I swear by Almighty God that I will tell the truth, the whole truth, and nothing but the truth." Not like she believed in God.
"Prosecutor Cass, you may now question the witness." The questions were the same as any other trial. Her name and what was her relationship with the accused were the starting ones, and then he asked the most important questions. "Ms. Valentiana, do you know where Alexis was on Friday, October 12 at 8:47 p.m.?" "Alexis was on a plane coming back from Tokyo at that time." "And how would you prove that?" "I have some pictures he sent me on October 12 at 8:45 p.m. of the plane window." Dina showed the prosecutor her phone with the pictures. "I also have texts between him and I from that time."
"And how would you prove that this information is not falsified?" Dina was getting really pissed with this prosecutor, but again, she had to keep her cool. "I swore by the Bible, did I not? If you do not believe me, you may take the phone and investigate." "Thank you, that is all." Even if the prosecutor wanted to ask more, he couldn't because it would seem like he was deliberately accusing Dina of perjury when she had already taken an oath.
"Mr. Jung, you may now submit your evidence." After that, everything went smoothly and the trial ended in 40 minutes. "I declare that Mr. Junes is not guilty!" The judge hit his gavel two times and stood up. Dina picked up Alexis in her Maserati and said, "Let's go get celebration ice cream!!!" "Thank you so much for your help Dina," Alexis was beyond grateful because the day before he thought he was doomed to rot in jail. "No need to thank me, and besides, did I lie?"
"Haha, you're right! By the way, what did I miss in class? It's been almost 3 weeks since I've been there and I know I'm behind a lot." Dina patted Alexis' head and said in a grave tone, "You have suffered my child." "Oh, stop playing around!" "Ahahahaha, I'm just playing. I wrote down all the stuff you need to do." "Aww, you're the best!" "Of course I am, hmph."
