Synopsis

Sample:

Something in my chest tightens from seeing my fathers old work building half in shambles, and for the first time in two years, I feel a tear roll down my cheek. I wipe it away angrily and focus back on the screen.

Right now she’s warning everyone to stay indoors.

“I’m standing just outside of Biotech Breakthroughs Inc., where an explosion happened moments ago. There’s toxins in the air. We don’t know what else may have escaped.”

They don’t know what else escaped? What does she mean by that?

Whatever’s going on, she looks scared. Her blonde hair is in a messy bun like she hadn’t expected to be called onto the scene, and her black skirt holds wrinkles like she forgot to iron her business suit.

I don’t blame her. If someone unexpectedly called me to a scene where a dangerous explosion happened, leaking unknown chemicals, I wouldn’t want to be there either.

Streaks of orange and red flare up in the sky. There’s something behind her in the distance. I don’t think she notices it.

“What the hell is that.” A student says while biting on their nails.

“No cursing!” Ms. Darcy snaps her finger in the air, but her eyes are glued on the T.V.

I lean forward and push myself into a stand, moving closer to get a better view. The clouds pull back, it’s a-.

“It’s a plane!” Rose gasps, taking the words right from my thoughts.

It is a plane. It’s coming down fast and heading straight for the reporter.

“Oh my god.” Ms. Darcy barely whimpers out.

The nosey people gathered around the explosion site, starts screaming and running away. I see the reporter turn to look up. But it’s too late. A bright light fills the screen with flares of red, black and grey, then the signal goes dead.

Seventeen year old Ian has always felt like an outsider, ever since his mother lost her mind and his father disappeared two years ago while working at a mysterious corporation that conducts experiments for the future of the world.

He lives with his little brother and their adoptive father, who doesn't understand Ian and often argues with him.

One day, after a heated confrontation, Ian is dropped off at school, where he faces his bully who taunts him about his mentally ill mother. Ian loses his temper and starts a fight, but their brawl is interrupted by a loud explosion outside.

The teacher turns on the TV and they see that there is an outbreak of some unknown virus.

Ian realizes that this might have something to do with his father's disappearance and the corporation he worked for.

Oh man, what an amazing novel!!! where do I even start?!? Okay, okay, okay, let’s get into it! First off, the MC, his struggles, his interactions with family and friends is absolutely relatable, believable, and excellently portrayed by the author! The way the collapse occurs and the reactions and portrayals by the cast are amazing and work excellently to push the novel forward without an info dump. Honestly, the novel didn’t really read as a zombie apocalypse until the reveal and that was such a satisfying moment. The writing excels and is a step above a lot of novels on the platform, there’s next to nothing to critique in this department. This is 100% worth the read and definitely a must have in your library! Keep up the amazing work Author and I can’t wait to see how you progress the story!

Apocalypse check, likeable protagonist check, intense beginning chapters check. This book is off to a great start, that’s all I can say without giving away too much. I like the way the story is heading and hate how the last chapter I read ended on a cliffhanger. Now, I’m no fan of first person and present tense. Some of you may feel the same but I can guarantee this author makes it a unique experience. Whether you like the way it’s written or not you have to admit the grammar is great 5/5

This book is 1st person Pov done right. The best one I've read so far and liked considering the fact that I don't usually tend to praise books written in 1st person. The pacing is great, the writing is great and while the MC kinda gets to your nerves at the start ( probably only me. Might vary for others), you'll understand why in 2 or 3 chapters. The world is intriguing and makes me wanna scream for more at the chapter where I left off but all in all, it's a very entertaining and immersive read. One of the best Zombie/Apocalypse starts out there. Note to author: I'll haunt you if you drop this!

As always, incredible writing quality and relatable characters! Even the character tropes that would be normally impossible to relate to, you manage to find a way. Great work and looking forward to more chapters!

If you don't update soon, please delete this review and pretend I didn't say anything. (angry face)But until you do that, I'm your loyal and devoted puppe- ahem...reader. (smiley face)As always, Sunrise's novels are extremely addictive, the type to make you forget to feed your cat until you finish the chapter or possibly the entire chapters that are out, like in my case. (sorry cat)At first, I just liked the *real* interaction between Ian and his stepdad, but now, I saw that there's much more to it, especially since Jake doesn't seem to be a bad guy at all.Ian's back story is pretty sad, but to be honest. .. I liked every moment of it, I'm an avid fan of Chaos, but since I don't have part of it, i guess I'll find myself in other people who experience it.The concept of zombie-virus-apocalypse isn't new, but the execution was simply divine and much to my liking.I can barely wait for new chapters to drop, and hopefully, they would.Thsnk you for those who managed to read this reviewsm so far, and hope you have a good day.20/20 kisses

The story still is at the very beginning but it has potential. I found myself scrolling angry for the next chapter until I noticed I had read everything. While it still is too early to get any in-depth review for this one, the potential for the future is there.

Legitimately a really well written piece of literature. I initially put it off because Remington sucks at synopses, but after giving it a proper go, I can safely say that I'm glad I did. The MC's thought processes are well-done and accurately reflect the teenage angst found in one who's suffered and who's come from a broken family. Post-apocalyptic settings provide the author with a lot of leeway in displaying the ugliness and beauty of mankind. To write a story in this setting and not do so is the most basic misstep, I'm glad to say that it's not the case for this novel. There are a thousand words that could be used to praise or criticise this novel, but ultimately, my final advice will always be the same. Give it a go. You lose nothing by reading two chapters, and by the time you look up, you'll realise you're late for work. Froggo grin.

This novel is brilliant. The first chapter, technically the prologue, got me hooked from the start. And I can't believe that this was the author's first time writing in first person POV. It is surprisingly good. Definitely recommended.
