Chapter 47: CH 47: Cold
Jason was shocked by the changes that had apparently happened to his body without his knowledge. He read over his status 3 times but each time his surprise remained.
'This is unbelievable. Even though I thought I could battle a Servant before, I knew I was overestimating myself. But with this new body as well as the skills I have inherited, the noble phantasms, and my divine constructs, I'm pretty sure I can take on at least half of my Servants.
I wonder why it seems like I inherited most of my abilities from Ibuki and Karna though. Solomon only gave me one ability and no noble phantasms.'
What Jason did not know was that Solomon was actually quite weak or too specialized compared to the other two bodily and technique-wise. He was indeed a powerful Servant and legendary hero but his skills came from his ability with magecraft.
Any noble phantasms that Solomon had were just powerful magecraft that Jason was unable to use due to his magic circuits. Solomon's skill in magecraft could not be passed on any more than what Jason had received in the skill [Seal of Solomon] and the ring he got.
As for the other two, they were true divine beings and had divinity in their blood. This divinity could be inherited from their essence even if they could not pass on their personal combat abilities.
They were known for their combat abilities and could use a variety of things to defeat their enemies. Even if they had their signature weapons, they still had their skill with other weapons, magecraft, authority, or just their physical bodies.
Either of the pair could be summoned as more than one class of Servant as well and were top tier no matter what class of Servant they were summoned as. Karna had the skill to be a Lancer, Rider, or Archer while Ibuki could be a Saber, Berserker, or Assassin.
Jason did not dwell in his thoughts for too long though. He wanted to test the limits of his new body.
Without waiting for, or explaining to, Achilles or Anastasia, Jason ran out the door and summoned his wings to take flight. The pair hurried to follow him on Achilles' chariot as they were not sure what he was up to.
They soon caught up to him since even with his new speed and wings, he could not outspeed Achilles. When he was high in the air, he took a moment to look at his wings and noticed that they had changed color. They were now the same grey-purple as Ibuki Douji's skin.
The group flew towards the south without speaking between them. Each had their own thoughts in mind so they did not notice the silence until they landed on the snow-covered land of Antarctica.
Achilles did not have issues due to his immortal body. Anastasia had ice magic and was from Russia so her resistance to the cold was normal. But it was Jason who was the anomaly. He was shirtless due to the wings tearing through his clothes and should have been freezing.
Due to becoming a dragon though, his body was much sturdier than before and he did not even feel cold. Although he could feel the cold wind blow against his skin, it did not make him feel uncomfortable or out of place.
He did not focus on that but instead pulled out a card before crushing it. In front of him appeared two very identical men although one had a scholar's aura while the other had the aura of a beast.
Jason raised his right hand and said, "By my command, Berseker, use your noble phantasm and battle me!"
Everyone looked shocked at the command but Mr. Hyde soon recovered before he summoned his potion and downed it immediately. He fell to his knees and clutched his chest in pain as his body started to enlarge and rip his clothes.
His naked form was soon covered in fur while his body made cracking sounds as it changed into a mix of lupine and human forms. This process sounded like it took a long time but was over in 3 seconds.
The lycan looked up for a moment and when it set its sight on Jason, it immediately lunged. Jason was barely able to jump out of the way with his [Instincts] and [Mana Burst].
The lycan crashed into the snow and ice behind Jason and knocked a large amount into the air. Jason took the chance to summon out Kusanagi and charged to where Hyde landed.
Hyde jumped out of the snow and met Jason's charge with one of its own. The pair exchanged attacks with neither trying to block the other.
Jason had 3 claw marks on his chest. Due to his Kundala, mana burst, and dragon body, he was able to only get away with light injuries in the exchange. Although Hyde had very sharp claws, the Kundala weakened them by a great deal so Jason was not afraid of them.
Hyde on the other hand got slashed across his chest with the sword in Jason's hand but before he even lost his momentum, the slash wound had already healed.
If the pair continued to just battle with physical prowess, it would easily end in Jason's defeat. But luckily for Jason, he did not just have to fight up close with Hyde.
Jason spread his wings and flew into the air before summoning his blue loti and launching as many prana shots as he could from them at Hyde. Hyde simply ignored the prana shots and jumped through the air to try and catch Jason.
He was able to dodge to move but the pair were in a stalemate now. Jason could launch as many attacks as he wanted but all of his skills could not deal enough damage to outdo Hyde's healing factor. Hyde had the better body in all aspects but lacked long-range abilities to beat Jason who was in the air.
