Chapter 1: Wet Skies

Wet skies. Not something you'd say. Even on a rainy day. The wet ground, maybe. But not wet skies. That's what John thought as he lifted away his umbrella and a drop of water fell on his eye. He flinched. Dirt latched on his pants as the rain fell lashing on the ground. The smell of the air around him was nice. He recalled that he'd read that the world's costliest perfume had the same smell. Both the poor and the rich have the same luxury, he thought. In some ways, we are all equal. Maybe, everything we want in life is the same for everybody. Everyone wants the smell of rain once in a while. Everyone wants to feel safe. It's beautiful really, he thought. His pants started to feel heavy and his feet started to itch. He remembered that he had more errands to run for the day and sped off into the distance.
