Chapter 2: Settling in

"Beau, Beau."

A beefy male grumbled and dragged his body to open the door before going back to collapse on his bed. "Jay, what is it?"

"Were you sleeping?" Jay sat on the bed opposite Beau's. "The chancellor wants to see you."

The sleepy male pounded his fists into the bed in frustration. "What does he want again?!"

"I don't know. It seems there is this new student he wants you to show around." Jay shrugged. "Who else is fit for such a job if not the student ambassador of Elite High University?"

"If not for the fact that we are roommates and friends, I would have knocked off three of your molars." Wearing a frown, Beau bounced off the bed, swinging his heavy build to the closet. He grumbled as he threw on a shirt, "Why in heaven would a new student join us now? It's almost the end of the semester."

"Seems like a rich kid. I saw the car he was brought in. I could tell that his family must be very wealthy."

"Jay, sign up as a detective. That is a better course than that crap you're studying."

"I would be grateful if something detective-like pops into my life. Do you know how much I love the life of searching out mysteries and dark-secret murders? It's kind of exhilarating." He followed Beau out of the room, waited for him to lock the door, and started a slow trail behind him. "I watched this movie the other day. It was—"

"Where is your girlfriend?" Beau asked, cutting him short, secretly hoping that it would shut the talkative up.

"Cara is fine. I just left her moments ago. Talking about Cara, I think it's high time you get yourself someone. You have stayed single enough. I would have given you one of Cara's friends but you're gay. I don't think I have any gay friends or someone who has a single gay guy as a friend or someone I can pitch up with you. Maybe you should just drop your pride and pick from one of the male students throwing themselves at you... "

Beau exhaled. "Can you just back off of my relationship life?" he asked, visibly fatigued. "In fact, I want you to bug off my life." He increased his steps. Jay ran to meet up with him.

"You have been saying that since we met. Funny, since we stay in the same room and see each other every day."

"I wish I could change that," Beau sighed. The chancellor's office came into view. His afternoon rest that was disturbed, Jay's reminder of his lonely life, and the intensity of the sun made him forget his manners. He didn't bother knocking. When the knob was turned and the door gave way, he was expecting to see something, maybe an expensive wine or gift, on the table of Mr Ford as a 'little token' from the rich kid—as Jay had called the new student.

But all he saw was the chancellor, brimming with smiles. "Mr Ford, I learned that you—" He stopped as his gaze tilted to the left. His respiratory system instantly malfunctioned...

*. *. *. *.*

Asher was awed by the magnificent structures on the premises. The place truly lived up to its name—Elite High.

As he waited in the office for the student ambassador the chancellor summoned, he watched his driver talk with the chancellor. Asher wasn't surprised that his father did not follow him, after all, the man always made it a point of call to remind Asher that he wasn't a kid anymore and he could now go through some parts of life alone.

Going alone wasn't new. Asher had been doing that since childhood.

The knob of the door turned. It drew his attention.

Asher swallowed nervously. He just hoped that whoever walked in wasn't the ambassador asked to show him around, because...

The ambassador stopped taking mid-sentence as their eyes met. Asher heard him gasp softly.

Asher didn't take his eyes off the beefy male who refused to break eye contact.

"Beau, this is Asher, Randall Asher. He will be joining us," Mr Ford said in introduction. "His things will be moved to the students' condos. He said he would like to look around a little. Take him to the fourth building, the third floor, when you are done."

"Nice to meet you, Asher." Beau extended his arm for a handshake. "I am Claude Beau, the student ambassador. Sorry if I kept you waiting."

Asher almost pissed his pants when their palms touched. He slightly shivered. So much virility from just one male! It was just too much. Beau towered over him a little, bulky, sexy, hot. The black of Beau's eyes swirled like a portal, matching the colour of his hair, pulling in whoever stared at them for too long.

"I... I am Randall Asher, but some people call me Ash."

His voice was so low that Beau found a hard time catching the words. Even when he did, he made no move to withdraw his hand. Asher looked very fragile, too fragile—like a glass piece of kitchenware. The hand in Beau's grip felt like foam, so light that he would have forgotten they were making contact if not for the electricity Asher kept feeding his body—and groin.

"I guess I will call you Ash too. It's a beautiful name." At last, their hands separated. "Let me show you around as you requested. After that, I will take you to your condo where you will have a nice bath and rest."

"Oh, yes. I'd really love that."

They walked out of the office. Asher kept his eyes fixed on the ground, scared that an upward tilt could make him clash gazes with Beau.

"Do you stay far?"

"Hmm?" Asher looked up.

"I asked if you stay far."

"Yeah, kind of. I stay with my parents at Greenwood."

"Wow. That's very far," Beau murmured. "I know Greenwood. It's a rich people's place." He instantly regretted saying that. Asher's blue eyes flickered with something Beau could decipher.

"Do you have a problem with Greenwood?"

"Ooh, not at all. I have been there... just once. My dad forced us to spend our Christmas at a cabin there. My mom was pretty excited. I was too. My brothers didn't seem to share in that happiness."

Asher found himself smiling. "Most tourists come because of the forests. I heard there are deers in most of the forests and thick vegetations."

"Yeah, you've never gone to any of the forests there?"

"Nah, not really."

"But you live there."

It sounded like an accusation. Asher laughed nervously. "I... I don't come out that much. I prefer staying indoors."

Aha! That explained one of the reasons why Asher looked so pale. Beau felt that a little pressure on the lad's arm would leave a fingerprint. He had never seen someone so beautiful and sexy, someone that could heat him up. Asher's sandy-brown hair even reminded him of the beach.

"I understand. It's okay if you enjoy staying indoors. I am more of the outside type." He led Asher to the side where there was a cluster of buildings. "These are the hostels. I stay in one of the dorms."

"Ooh, where will I stay?"

"Not here. You will stay in the condos. They are like special apartments for rich kids who can't stand the hostels. You will be very comfortable there." Some students passed by and greeted Beau.

Asher walked to the front of the ambassador and stopped him. "Can you please stop saying that? I am no rich kid. My family is rich, yes, but I am not one of those I-can't-live-normal-because-of-riches type. I wouldn't mind the hostels if my dad didn't push the condo—or whatever the fuck they call it—on me."

Beau watched his lips move during the entire outburst. He unconsciously stepped closer. He could already see that Asher wasn't one of the normal rich type he knew. "I am sorry if I angered you."

Asher closed his eyes and exhaled. "No, I should be the one apologizing. My week has been hectic and I am trying to let out steam. It seems I am pouring it on you." He opened his eyes to say something else but his lips refused to move. During his brief exhale, Beau seemed to have closed the distance between them—too close for Asher to bear.

"I am happy you are not mad at me. I would hate myself if you do."

"You're whispering," Asher noticed. His own voice also dropped. "I am not mad at you." He almost slapped himself. They were almost in the middle of the fucking hostels! Someone could see them.

"I am happy you are not." Beau took another step closer. Asher unconsciously moved back.

"Errm... Can you take me somewhere?"

"Where do you want to go?"

Asher stepped back some more. He took a brief moment to gather his thoughts. "Somewhere... Like the library."

"Sure. This way."

This time, Beau walked to the front. Asher was gifted a fine view of his back as the ambassador swung his body from side to side. Asher imagined how the muscles would feel beneath his touch. The organ between Asher's thighs also found Beau attractive. He forced his eyes back to the premises. It was truly a magnificent institution. Most of the structures were old with ancient architectural designs. It made Asher love the structures the more. They got to a building with a massive QUIET! sign bodily etched at the entrance.

"Do you want to go in?" Beau asked.

"No, I will come some other time." Asher did not want to sound selfish by requesting them to go in. The rich kid tag on him was already enough. "Let me see the condos."

This time, Beau slowed down his pace. "The cafeteria is that way." He pointed in a direction. "Those staying in the condos can order meals from the kitchen. You don't have to stress yourself going there every time." Some more students greeted Beau who was too engrossed to answer. "The chefs are wonderful. You don't have to be worried about eating unhealthy foods."

Asher wasn't worried about that. His main source of worry was how he would manage to keep his lips and hands away from the ambassador before the day ran to an end. The attraction was undeniable, and he didn't want it.

His father would murder him if the information leaked. Asher did not even want to start picturing the look on his mother's face when she found out that he was being intimate with a man.

"It's beautiful," Asher commented, eyes roving all over the premises. "It's a very beautiful institution."

"It sure is. Even the neighbourhood is peaceful. Whenever you are free, I can walk you around. The folks around here are very nice." Beau did not like the way his thoughts kept drifting to the boy beside him. Most of the thoughts were not very decent. He stole a look at Asher who was looking around in awe. Beau had never seen a kid from a rich family so cool-headed and considerate. Most of all, Asher's looks were downright enticing. With very pale skin, full brown hair, and piercing blue eyes, Asher looked like a creature from outer space.

A creature Beau wanted to know more about.

"I will like that." Asher lit up. "Are there places we can visit? Maybe a museum or some antique shop?"

Beau was fascinated. "Is that your idea of places to visit?"

"Well... I love books and beautiful places. I am mostly indoors, so I guess it's natural I like stuff like that."

"I will take you somewhere beautiful if that's what you want. I love beautiful places too. In fact, I have this special spot I love so much."

"Really?"

"Yeah, scrap that. I have a lot of special places. Let's get you settled in."

Asher knew they had gotten to the condos. The environment seemed to change. The high-rise buildings weren't like the hostels. They seemed more sanitized, more tidy.

Beau pointed to one of the buildings. "That is where your condo is. Let's go up."

Asher followed him up the stairs, heart beating fast for no particular reason. It seemed his heart reacted on instinct whenever he got close to Beau.

"M—My bags," he stammered, hoping the hunk heard him.

Beau did. He didn't stop walking. "Don't worry about that. They must be in your condo by now."

Asher did not say any other thing. It wasn't like he had something else to say. Beau's voice, smile, laugh, and body movements were too enticing to go unnoticed. He could call it hormones or just pure lust, but he wanted to be badly kissed by Beau—and maybe do other things.

"This is you." Beau motioned to a door. "Freshen up and get some rest. You can take the day to relax and resume lectures tomorrow."

"That sounds like a good idea."

"What course are you offering?"

"Business administration. You?"

"Computer science."

Asher scoffed. "You must have a lot of brains," he teased. He watched closely as Beau laughed, exposing his perfectly white dentition.

"Well, you can say that." Beau slowly took a step back. "Make sure you take a bath and rest, okay?"

"I will." Asher knew Beau was about to go. He didn't want him to. They had just met each other minutes ago and he already felt safe around Beau. How would he settle down in a condo alone? The feeling of perceived loneliness tore at Asher's chest to the point that he did something he didn't expect—even from himself. "Beau... Please, can you stay with me a while?"
