Synopsis

What would you do if you saw a gate in the middle of a forest, held up by nothing, not even the trees? What would you do if that gate was dark and foreboding? Here's what you should not do: go through it.
Beyond the Unyielding Gate are monsters and creatures from myths and legends. Creatures you have only ever heard about in stories. Creatures like Obayifo: a vampiric type being, or the Geryon: a giant with large spiked clubs for crushing. Creatures like Atooikozo: a child spirit who is lonely, and the Qiqirn: a dog creature who flees from men and other dogs.
Humans don't go through the Gate and survive. Humans don't even get one foot beyond before their hearts stop with paralyzing fear.
I am warning you so you don't have to endure the same horrors as one stubborn and stupid human girl did. I am warning you to save your lives! To save your sanity!
Stay away!
Please heed my warning!
For your sake...and ours.

Letter written by: Tracy, Ichchadhari Naagin (Serpant woman in human terms).

Scary yet tempting!!! Ever thought that what does the monster under your bed has been thinking of you? Ever read a book from the predators' point of view, Well this book is definitely that. We sleep peacefully at night, dreaming of beautiful things, but unbeknownst to the scary beings around us. Welcome to the world where you are made aware of the creatures who walk beside you even though you don't see them. this book felt scary to me when I read the first chapter, but the story was inviting, I couldn't stop myself from swiping for next chapter. Jeez the quality and the description, it's so well calculated and perfect that I can see everything happening in front of me. A novel of this genre truly deserves 5 stars! and so here goes my rating.

I give this novel all five as it deserves to have it all. I mean you will love the novel if you are a human. It has everything. It is a gem. Every chapter starts with a scary quote about monster but very true. Author did her research. All the myths and legend are here. You will never regret reading this novel.

Super intriguing premise. The author has woven folklore and mythical creatures from all around the world into one, which I like a lot! They also take the opportunity to explain the "main chapter creature". I didn't think any chapter was scary at all. Rather, I felt, everything was magical and wondrous - perhaps because I'm a mythological creature fan myself and knew almost every type of "monster" the author introduced. 😅 The changing perspective between characters is surprisingly easy to follow and has never been an issue during reading. On the contrary, it provides better insight to the situation at hand. Some chapters are long and story-driven, others are more poetic, displaying the excellent writing skills of the author. However, there is a plethora of characters introduced on top of the creatures which made it difficult to not get confused. Introducing new characters late into the story was also a little challenging for me, as I felt their introduction was rushed. It could have used one or two more chapters to narrate the broken relationship mentioned in ch30 instead of squeezing it all into a footnote.

Interesting, to say the least. The writing quality was pretty good, and the character development went a long way, but world-building is the only thing I have trouble with. As for the plot, I love how you can transfer the perspective of the reader to what they would not expect, the other side of the story. The premise of it is extremely intriguing, and not something I see often in novels, especially romantic ones. Great idea, I just hope you won't mess up with the names of creatures in the future. Anyways, great read.
