"Sister! Sister!"
The eager cries had woken up the girl who had been staring out of the bay window. She answered briefly, hopped off the bay window and hurried to open the door.
It was a young man in his teens standing at the door. He was dressed in a suit and holding a gift in his arms. He must have knocked the door so many times that he was even about to take out his phone to call her.
Seeing that the door was opened, Jian Jialang cursed lowly and then cursed again after he looked up.
"Sister, why are you not dressed? Are you going home or not?" Jian Jialang walked past his sister who was looking at him in confusion as he urged her. "Judging from your bewildered look, you must have forgotten the very important event that's happening today. You have, haven't you?"
"Today?" Jian Sangyu looked confused. She took a look at her cell phone and had her eyes transfixed upon the time on the lockscreen. She checked again and again before realizing that she had died in the earthquake yet was now reborn to a year before the earthquake happened.
She and Gu Chen had died in the earthquake that was going to happen a year later, but for some reason, she returned as a reborn person!
She had just woken up and the first thing she did after she opened the eyes was to call Gu Chen. She wondered if he had also been reborn like she was. But the two calls did not go through and that made her sit still at the bay window.
"Sis, it is mom's birthday today! Have you really forgotten about it? Don't tell me you haven't gotten a present ready either? Why didn't you tell me earlier? I could have picked one up for you from the mall." Jian Jialang got into a bit of a frenzy. He went to drag his sister into the room as he saw her still standing transfixed at the door.
"You really don't have anything prepared? Then get yourself changed! Take mine, and I will buy one from the mall later." Jian Jialang said, "I can be late, but you can't, otherwise someone else is going to talk."
Only now did Jian Sangyu realize what was going on. She knew what the date was today, but after just being reborn, she had been too dumbfounded to do anything or to remember what was so special about today.
It was Mother Jian's birthday today
"Jialang." Jiang Sangyu called out to the man who was putting on his shoes and about to leave. "I have got something ready, you don't have to buy another present. Just wait for me here. I will get changed and tidy myself up a bit."
Jian Jialang let out a sigh of relief and returned to the living room. He gave her a please-hurry-up look and asked briefly, "Where is Brother-in-law? Will he come with you?"
"No." According to the routine of the previous life, Gu Chen was stuck in the team. She didn't mention her mother's birthday to Gu Chen who never remembered those kinds of special days anyways.
Jian Sangyu took a look at the time and hurried back to the bedroom. She opened the wardrobe, subconsciously grabbed a white and conservative dress and was about to put it on when her fingertips felt the hanger and stopped. Instead, she took down another brilliantly blazing gown in red.
After she was changed, Jian Sangyu took out a pair of simple black high heels, making her, who had a height of approximately 170cm, look intimidating and imposing.
"Wonderful." Jian Sangyu spun herself around in front of the mirror and was about to put on her makeup when the doorbell rang.
She took a look at the time and mumbled that it must have been a delivery man who brought her food.
After the door opened, Jian Sangyu let half of her body out and stretched out her arm to the man outside the door. Only now did she realize that this man seemed to have grown some inches taller than before.
