Chapter 4: The Fallout, The Leaves Fall Silent

Of the 7 people standing there, the only sounds heard were of the leaves on the trees rustling.

"What?! What happened?!" Gai exclaimed.

"We don't know who did it just yet, but patrol found the bodies of several Uchiha bodies in the streets of their compound." One of them explained to him.

The leader watched Suki, who had yet to make any sound at all.

"Suki..." Lee muttered, a contrast to how he always exclaimed.

The leader placed his hand on her shoulder.

"Alert all Jounin you can find." The leader commanded Gai, who nodded.

The leader used Shushin and took her away before the ANBU scattered.

"Gai-sensei, what's going on?"

"I don't know Lee, but your training is done. Head home and be prepared. The person responsible may still be in the village." Gai warned.

—————————————————

The leader appeared in the office of the Hokage.

"Lord Hokage, Suki Uchiha." He told.

"Dismissed." Hiruzen dismissed. The ANBU nodded before vanishing back to his post.

He turned his attention to Suki.

"Suki, can you understand me?" He asked, seeing how much in shock she may be.

"I understand you, Lord Hokage." She stated.

He nodded. "What were you told before you arrived here?"

"I was told that my clan had been attacked."

"Well, I'm afraid the situation is actually worse than an attack." He sighed, knowing what he was about to say should never be told to a 7 year old. "As far as our estimates show, almost all of the Uchiha clan has been killed."

The room returned to silence once he stopped talking.

"Lord Hokage," She started. "When...when you find my dad...may I see the body?"

"That'll depend on the body's state." He told before getting the first reaction from her.

Anger.

"What? Depending on the body's state? Lord Hokage, if what you say is true, I've lost my entire clan. A body is nothing compared to that!"

Hiruzen was shocked.

In front of him, a 7 year old girl had two fully awakened Sharingan staring at him with tears starting to flow.

"Please." She barely spoke. "I need to see it with my own eyes."

He sighed inwardly, knowing that she shouldn't be seeing a corpse this young but situations have caused that to be the least of her problems.

"I'll let you know when we find him." He agreed. "But there was one survivor. Apparently, your friend Sasuke was left alive, but left unconscious."

"Sir, is there anything else?"

He did sigh out loud this time. "No, that is all. For now, though," He turned and grabbed some keys. "While we get this cleaned up, you'll be staying in an apartment."

He held out the keys that she grabbed before turning to the door.

"Suki, I can't claim to know what this is like for you, but sometimes, it's best to just let it all out." Hiruzen told.

She stood there before opening the door and leaving.

After she was gone from hearing distance, he sighed heavily.

"I am truly sorry, Sasuke, Suki."

—————————————————

Suki wasn't truly watching where she was going, just aimlessly walking. While it is the middle of the night, shinobi were jumping all over the place, which was starting to wake a few civilians up and they tried asking anyone what's going on, only to be told to stay in their homes.

As she walked, she bumped into someone.

"Woah, shouldn't you be at home kid?" A silvered hair man asked.

"Can't."

"Oh? Why not? Get in a fight with your parents?"

"How can you fight when they're dead?" She spoke back, starting to walk off again, not even realizing who she bumped into.

He looked at her back as his one visible eye widened slightly upon seeing the fan crest on her back.

He about went after her before someone arrived.

"Kakashi."

He turned and saw Gai. "Gai? What's going on?" He needed to be sure and know just how bad he screwed up.

"The Uchiha clan was attacked." He looked away slightly. "It's bad. They've only found one survivor and another who was elsewhere during the attack."

Kakashi cursed softly.

"I'm worried."

Now that caught his attention. "Gai?"

"Just tonight, one of the two asked if I could teach them more Taijutsu with their flames of youth burning brightly." He said with a small smile before it went away. "Now, from seeing her reaction to the news, I'm worried someone extinguished those flames and all that may be left are embers."

'This just keeps getting worse and worse.' Kakashi thought.

"Keep your eye out for me would you?"

Kakashi nodded. Gai took off, likely to alert more Jounin as he was told to do.

He looked back in the direction she went before sighing.

"Alright kid, you shouldn't be alone right now." He stated before jumping to the roofs.

——————————————

Suki continued walking for about 10 more minutes before hearing her foot crunch something. She looked down and saw tape that is often used to keep people out. She looked up and...

"Of course." She muttered.

She ended up at her own front door.

She walked up the front steps before pushing the door inward, opening it before closing it behind her.

She looked around and saw the place was trashed.

The table they ate at was broken into several pieces as if something smashed into it. The floor in the kitchen had burn marks on the ground.

'Likely a Fireball technique.' She thought. The living room had several slash marks on the walls and chairs. She continued to walk around before finding her way to the basement door with a note on the front.

She picked it up before feeling a pinch. She looked at her hand and saw a drop of blood appear before it fell on the note. The note shined before two scrolls appeared.

One was marked "My little Tsukiyomi." Her father said that he called her that because she was his moon, something that would always give him light, no matter how dark the times ever got.

"Even now, you still call me that."

The other was marked "My Last Goodbye." Her eyes teared up. Every time he went to work, he always tried to find a new way to say goodbye. While most would see it strange, after a while, it became a sort of tradition for him.

Her hands clenched hard.

She picked up the note.

'Squeeze both ends.'

Figuring he meant the scrolls, she did before they poofed. Worried for a second, she felt relieved that the first scroll only created a seal on her left hand that stored the scroll.

She picked up the other one before placing it against the seal as well.

With that done, she looked around for anything else, only to find the emergency money her dad always stashed away, just in case something ever happened.

She then left the house before leaving the compound and actually headed to her new apartment now that she has something to do.

———————————

It took 20 minutes before she arrived and entered her room before locking the door.

She looked around and saw she had a fridge, a small kitchen top, a bed further back, a window that showed the night, and a dining table.

She walked over there and sat down on one of the chairs before releasing the seal on her left hand, causing one scroll to appear.

She picked the scroll up.

"'My last goodbye.'" She read aloud. She tried to open it but her body refused. "Just...just open it." She muttered. She sat there for a minute before acknowledging the problem. "I don't want to see it. Once I read this, he'll officially be gone."

She gritted her teeth before slamming her fist on top of the table.

She forced herself to quickly open it before she could change her mind again.

She rolled the scroll out.

"'So, if you've found this, the parent's dream came true. You outlived me. No mother or father ever wants to bury their child or be told they died on a mission. Alright, let me get down to it. There should have been another scroll with this. Do not open it until you are Chunin or 16. Think of it as my gift to you. Now, I know I wasn't a perfect father but I know you've wanted to know about your mother for years so, I'll tell you a few things. First, her name was Sasuna. She had a mean temper, no one would ever disobey her, otherwise, they met the beast. She was a Jounin known for her Kenjutsu and her unnatural strength. You've got your looks largely from her, except your eyes and hair color. Now those, those are mine. You've got her personality as well. Wanting to be strong but refuses to achieve it if it means hurting someone you care for. I'm running out of room now, so I'll leave you one last thing. Grieve. Do not push it off. You might think it's better to do something to distract yourself but please, grieve. And now, the goodbye. The sun must leave, for the moon to shine.'"

By now, several tears fell.

As she was hunched over herself, a loud knocking occurred.

She got up and made her way there and opened it.

————————————

*few minutes earlier*

Naruto was sleeping on his bed before he woke up to someone knocking on his window.

He got up and looked outside and saw a man with white/silver hair.

He raised his hand upward, likely telling him to open his window.

He made his way over and opened it.

"Who are you?" He asked.

"Listen, are you friends with a Suki Uchiha." He asked.

He woke up. "Suki? What about her?"

"Are you friends with her?" He repeated.

"Yeah?"

"Okay listen. She needs you."

"This late? What does she need help with?"

"You know how she comes from a clan right?" Naruto nodded. "Well, a lot of them just died." His eyes opened. "They have yet to find her father."

"Where is she?!" He exclaimed.

"She's in the room right next to you on the left." With that, Kakashi jumped off.

Naruto quickly made his way out before stopping in front of the door. He slammed his fist into the door several times before waiting.

The door opened slowly to a sight he hadn't seen before.

Her eyes were very red, her hair a bit more messy than usual, and her eyes.

There was so much sadness, regret, uncertainty in them.

A look he's had a few times.

"N-Naruto?" Her voice sounded a little raspy.

He quickly moved before hugging her tight.

"W-what are you do-"

"Let it out, please." He looked her in the eye. "You shouldn't be this sad while alone."

Her bad façade was breaking more as her body started to shake.

"I-I-I'm f-f-fine." She barely told, holding back everything.

"Suki, please don't lie to me like that." He muttered.

With that, the dam broke.

She couldn't hold it in anymore and started sobbing as he just held her tighter.

"They're all gone!" She wailed.

"They are, but I'm staying." He told, trying to offer any reassurance.

They stayed there for about another 20 minutes before he noticed her slow, steady breaths.

"She fell asleep." He muttered before barely picking her up and placing her on her bed.

As he about left, he took another glance at her face before making a promise to himself.

'I will never let it get that bad ever again!'

With that, he closed the door before heading back to his own bed.

—————————

Across from the apartments, two figures stood looking at one apartment.

"Thank you, Kakashi." Gai told him.

"No one, least of all a 7 year old girl and boy, should need to experience this." He told him. "Make sure you tell her that the academy has given them two weeks off due to this."

"Naruto too?"

"Orders from the Hokage himself."

Gai nodded before they left.

The only thing left was silence as the leaves fell.
