Chapter 2: Façade.
The noises of everyday life were muffled within her ears.
Neither the cries of a newborn child, or the sounds of cars rushing by, held any importance in her mind.
There was no thought in her head as she, calmly and unaffected, passed by street vendors bellowing their offers to the world outside their small and tattered shops.
Not even the different odours, both fragrant and pungent, would seem to deter her from reaching her destination.
It would seem as thought nothing could penetrate the carefully made, nonchalant, mask that she had upon her face.
To her, all was but fleeting images of stranger's lives intertwining each other's, for only a moment, and then to be once again separated.
