Chapter 2: First real job.
In the low red light a team of 10 soldiers in uniform armor walks down a ramp to a big steel door. A solemn air around them. The one in front, a slightly more adorned armor with a womanly figure, stops in front of the door. She turns to her squad, taking of her helmet and gives the team a last look over, before they go into the breach.
"Listen men, this will be the usual procedures, but we have the newbie with us. Make sure to teach him, this is his first real job. I dont wanna lose any members. I'll beat your ass and send your corpse into space to freeze if you die. Lets beat some alien ass."
The previous tense atmosphere lifts a bit.
"Seth you're on babysitter duty." She says and looks at a broad-shouldered man who stands towards the back.
"Aye, sir." He answers in deep grovel, and looks towards the newbie, standing in his shiny new uniform.
"Alright! Look alive, we're going in." The lieutenant puts her helmet back on and presses the panel at the left side of the door.

'I get it, I'm the newbie. And I'm the one most likely to die. But I went to military school for 12 years. I'm not some helpless lamb. I'll show them what I've got.'
Readying my rifle I look up as the Lieutenant opens the door. We all take a breath and advance into the silent hallways. Everything is quiet, the only sound is the sound of fabric and our footfalls. My own breath feels louder than normal.
It didn't take long for us to come across the first signs of activity. A corpse of a young woman, missing her lower half and with her ribcage crushed, her face stuck in a haunting scream of pain. I feel nauseous, I knew it was going to be grim, I've trained for this. Yet its another thing to look into the eyes of death. Especially one so haunting.
"Come on recruit, nothing ya can do for her." A deep voice rings out from my babysitter.
"I can kill the beast that did this. Maybe bring her some rest." I answer in a low voice.
"Focus on staying alive first kiddo." He answers as he starts walking again, catching up to the rest of the squad.
I stand there for a second, just looking. Then I walk on to meet whatever did this.

This is the 7th corpse. Each just as mangled as the last. Blood collecting in pools. I feel a wrath against this beast, whatever it is.
*Plasma gunshots*
"Get a move on! Seems like some of the others found it first!"
*screeeech* A horrifying sound of the beast sounds out, reverberating all around us, sounds big.
We start running towards the sound of battle. The battle sounds like its intensifying. And then all goes silent.
We slow down and take a careful approach.
"All squads come in, what happened?" A gruff voice sounds from our coms.
"Squad 4 here, no contact but sound of battle. Just stopped, is it neutralized?" Our Lieutenant answers.
"Negative, we've lost contact with squad 2. Stay sharp look for survivors, and meet up with 1 and 3. Seems we've got a big one." The general says in a dark voice.
"Ya heard the man, stay on your toes. I'll connect us with squad 1 and 3."
I feel nervous, whatever we're hunting just took out a squad in less than 5 minutes. I feel under prepared. What's with my fucking luck? Why do I get a big alien monster on my first job?
I lift my gun slightly and follow the squad, keeping an eye out for anything that moves.
"1 and 3, you there? Can you send us your location, we're moving up on squad 2's last known position."
