Without waiting for Howard to speak, she hurried toward the elevator and left.

Howard watched Madeleine's retreating figure, reached into his pocket to feel his car keys, and unlocked the car through his pocket. When he was about to get into the car, his movement involuntarily stiffened. He swallowed hard and gripped the car door tightly. After a moment, he finally got in, started the car, and drove out of the underground parking garage.

In the dead of night, the streets were deserted. Howard drove very fast to the entrance of The Sapphire Bistro. Before the car came to a stop, the doorman greeted him. As soon as Howard rolled down the window, the doorman respectfully and familiarly said, "Mr. Coleman, you're here? Would you like to have your usual private room?"
