Chapter 2: The Village
He wasn't prepared for the ruins, for the bodies that were still unburied. His heart felt rage as he looked at the bones of his people. They looked on with curiosity, taking in what little remained in the once growing village. She felt like sobbing when she saw the half covered skull, it could easily fit in her hand if she picked it up.
'A proper burial is needed,' they decided as they passed skeletons that were stripped from their clothing. In fact, most of the Village was stripped of anything valuable.
'Why? It will only waste time, we should get revenge now,' he scowled as the rage continued to build. Even the shires weren't spared. His people deserved justice, who knows if that so called heroine hasn't already charmed the hero.
'They also deserve to be put to rest, don't you think so?' She whispered as their eyes looked over the ruins. 'Even if it's not much, it's better than continuing to decay in the open where people and animals will disturbed them.'
He could only sigh before they went to work. Many times the girl gagged and sobbed as the pulled out the bodies and buried them. It was done carefully and slowly. Each body got a stone, sometimes they had to bury a few in one hole. The bodies so locked on each other, it will be difficult to pull them apart without a body part falling off.
By the time, they were done, the sun was rising once again. Before they could sleep, she made them clean themselves in the cold river. It was better to be clean than warm. After all they can make a fire, but they couldn't cure a disease without medicine.
'We will leave now to hunt down our brother and reap our vengeance on him.'
