Chapter 37: I'M TIRED OF EVERYTHING

Jane was greeted by the morning light that invaded into her room through the open windows. She squinted her eyes open, trying to adjust to the lights. Feeling too weak to get up, she laid lazily on the bed, her thoughts went back to the event that happened yesterday. She even dreamt about it.

In the dream, she saw his fans trying stamp on her, trying to stamp her to death. They were all cursing her while doing so but he saved her, he saved her from his bizarre fans. And this morning, her eyes are dried from the too much tears she shed last night although her sister tried to console her but the pain of what she went through yesterday was too much for her to handle.

She wondered what she ever done to his fans to warrant this much hatred from them and her Mom didn't even help matters at all. She was practically mocking her yesterday, asking her if this's the kind of man she wants to spend the rest of her life with ? If this's the kind of life she wants to live for the rest of her life? She turned around and realized she's the only one in the room. Fortune has gone to school and she doesn't feel like going to work but no matter what, she will go. She must face the outside world. She lazily got up from the bed and made her way to the toilet.

She washed her face and brushed her teeth, she removed all the unwanted contents in her stomach. After that she took her bathe but she did all these with laziness, she felt like lying back on the bed and cry herself to death. After dressing up, she came out to the sitting room and everywhere looked so quiet. Her eyes mistakenly landed on the wall clock and her eyes went wide with shock at the time. It was half past 11, she slept for 14 straight hours.

Guessed she cried hard last night, she has never been humiliated like that throughout her life. It's a new day which needs to be started with something new. She didn't wrong his fans so she won't put her mind in whatever they think of her. She walked out of the house and saw her Dad, she thought everyone has left the house. She saw him tending to his car.

"Good morning Dad." She greeted with a smile on her face.

"Good morning dear, how was last night?" Her father replied back with a smile on his face

"Dad, you still here?" She asked, watching her father work on his car. "What are you doing? I thought you already left for work?"

"Yes, I'm still here and my car has a little problem." He answered and continued doing his business. "So how was your night?"

"I'm fine." She answered with a hoarse voice, her father noticed the hoarseness in her tone.

"Child, how are you feeling?" He asked with concern in his eyes.

She wondered what her father meant by that. He already asked her how was her night so why the how are you feeling question? Although she already knew what he meant by that but she isn't in the mood to talk about it. She wants to forget everything.

"You didn't talk to anyone throughout the night and your sister told me you cried all night." He interrupted her thoughts. "Daughter, what happened? Why didn't you say a word to anyone yesterday?"

She kept quiet, she didn't know how to break the news to her father. Her father is a wonderful man and deserves to know what's happening in his daughter's life. But thinking of it now brought back the pain she felt yesterday and she didn't want to talk about it.

"Nothing father, I'm fine." She tried to smile brilliantly to avoid her father asking her another question. "I'm perfectly okay, you shouldn't worry about me."

"You're not fine." Her father snapped, closing the bonnet of the car and walking closely to her. "That smile didn't reach your eyes, they are fake. You can't deceive me with that smile on your face. Behind that smile holds pain. You literally cried all night. Tell me, I'm your father, tell me what's bothering you?"

She has no option but to open up to her father, after some hesitation from her. She spoke up but her voice still held that hoarseness in them. "Dad, I'm tired." She threw her hands upwards in frustration. "I'm tired of everything, I don't even know what I want anymore. I don't even understand the way my life is going right now…." She casts her gaze on the ground.

"Can we discuss this in the car?" Her father said. "I have fixed my car and I will drop your off at your work place. You can let out your problems to me in the car."

"Okay." She nodded. She made sure the house is locked and everything was in order. She entered the front passenger's seat, her father started the ignition and drove out of the compound.

"So tell me, why are you tired of everything?" He asked, driving into the roads. "Did anyone say something to you?"

"No Dad, I'm just fed with life." She said, letting out a deep sigh. "I don't know if destiny is playing tricks on me, I just don't understand. Why does fate have to be so cruel?"

"I don't understand." Her father said, giving her a brief look and returning his eyes to the roads. "Why did you say so?"

"Because I don't know what to believe in anymore." She inserted, looking at the beauty of nature surrounding the roads. "My heart says I should strive on but my brain is saying don't."

"Are you referring to Chris?"

"Yes Dad." She nodded. "I really want to be with him, I want him but I don't know. I think fate has other plans for me. I guess fate doesn't want us to be together."

"You know Child." Her father began. "I understand you but one of the most important thing in life is knowing what you want. You know one of hardest part about going after what you want is trying to understand if God is giving you signs to stop or testing your faith to keep going."

"I understand you." Her father continued. "Sometimes it feels like the universe doesn't want you to be with him but deep down you really do. Yes, I watched the live event of the music gala you went to with Chris." He inserted, looking at her shocked expression. She might be wondering how he knew.

"Chris is a Rock star and what he ever does will be posted all over the net." His father went on to say. "I saw how they humiliated you by telling you you don't deserve him, telling you you don't fit in in his league but listen to your heart. Is your heart telling you the same thing?"

"No father, my heart never for once told me that." She said. "My heart always tell me to push forward…."

"Then push forward." He cuts her off. "I'm your father and I won't try to lead you astray, your Mom might not be in support of you but that doesn't mean she hates Chris. She's just concerned about your well being, she can't watch her daughter get broken all the time because of being in love with a Rock star. I understand your Mom and sometimes I feel the same way."

"I like Chris because something about him intrigued me." He said. "He's calm, reserve and collected. He isn't like other musicians and his music videos speak highly of him. Yes girls might be in most of his videos but that's what makes him a celebrity. And that's what's trending now but have you ever seen those girls he uses in his music videos wearing provocative clothes or trying to act funny with him?"

"No Dad." She answered, listening to him.

"That's because he's different and that difference has won him a place in my heart, no matter what people say or how much he fucks up. I will never dislike him, whether he ends up marrying you or not. That's his choice, that's why I'm saying you should always listen to your instincts. You're responsible for your life and how it should go. Don't let anyone make decisions for you, not I or your Mom. Anybody. Always listen within you."

"But Dad, I don't know what to do again, I'm frustrated. I'm not even sure if I want to be Chris anymore." She sighed again. "Mom is right, he's not good for me, I will keep getting myself hurt if I continue being with him. I mean he's known worldwide and I'm just an ordinary girl. We're not even in the same class, he should be getting married to a model, an actress or some other influential women in the society. It was wrong of me to fall for him, what was I thinking that he will like me too? I was so foolish."

"Another thing you shouldn't do is compare yourself to others or belittle yourself." Her father cautioned. "That's the worst mistake a man will ever make in his life because doing so shows you don't even love yourself. Self love is one's first priority in life. That you are not a musician, this or that so you can match up his status doesn't mean they are better than you. Some of them live fake lives and some of them you are better than. The only difference is that they are seen on TV and you're not."

"And besides he saw the models and them all but chose you." Her father added.

"Actually Dad, his parents chose me for him so he won't make any mistake in choosing his wife to be." She corrected, letting out a chuckle.

"Same thing." He father snapped. "Like I said earlier, listen to your heart and know what it wants and it wasn't a crime falling in love with him. There's no crime in love. No sorry or thank you in love. It just happens."

He reached her place of work, stopping in front of the building. "Child?" He called with worry over his face. "You will okay right?"

"Yes Dad, I will." She smiled sweetly. "Don't worry about me."

"I know but his fans are out there to lash on you." Her said. "They're practically waiting for you to arrive so they can give you the piece of their minds and your face is all over the net so don't watch the news."

"Don't worry dad, I will be fine." She assured him, trying to convince him and herself she will be fine. "I'm already use to this, I'm already use to having his fans say bad things about me so this one is not an exception."

"Are you sure? I'm worried about you. You go through a lot of pain in the hands of his fans. Promise me you won't let any of their words penetrate through you. No matter what they say, just ignore them."

"I will, father." She smiled, getting down from the car. "And don't worry I will watch the news to know what other words they have for me. Bye and drive safely." She waved at him.

"Take care of yourself, dear." Her father said and waved too. She watched him drive out of sight. She turned towards the building before her, she took a deep breath before walking into the building.

She saw people staring at her, buyers and sellers. Even the kiosks beside the building, the people there were staring at her as if she committed a crime. The art grocery opposite the building. People there were staring at her too, some were muttering, some were pointing at her while some were watching some stuff on their phones. She bets they're watching the news from yesterday's event.

She ignored all of them just like what her father said. She acted as if what ever they thought of her is none of her business. She came to work and not to waver because of their stares. She marched her way to her painting Lab, ignoring the murmurs of the people opposite her or beside her.

"𝑊ℎ𝑜 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑓𝑢𝑐𝑘 𝑑𝑜𝑒𝑠 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑖𝑠?" She heard someone say but she didn't try to figure out who said it. She continued hearing hateful words from them.

"𝐵𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑐𝑒𝑑 ℎ𝑒𝑟 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑓𝑖𝑛𝑎𝑐𝑒𝑒̀, 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑠𝑒𝑒𝑠 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑎𝑠 𝑞𝑢𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝐸𝑙𝑖𝑧𝑎𝑏𝑒𝑡ℎ 𝑜𝑓 𝐸𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑎𝑛𝑑. 𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑤ℎ𝑎𝑡'𝑠 𝑠𝑜 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑐𝑖𝑎𝑙 𝑎𝑏𝑜𝑢𝑡 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑑 𝑡𝑜 𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑜𝑠𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑜𝑣𝑒𝑟 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑠𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑟𝑎." She heard another say, she was trying her possible best to ignore them but comparing her with Cass is something that will always hurt her. Why does his fans like her so much? What did they see in her?

Why can't she be good for Chris? Because she's an ordinary painter, she's not an actress like Cass?

"𝐼 𝑤𝑜𝑛𝑑𝑒𝑟 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑡𝑜𝑜." Another voice said. "𝑊ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑑𝑖𝑑 ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑒𝑒 𝑖𝑛 ℎ𝑒𝑟? 𝑆ℎ𝑒'𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑒𝑣𝑒𝑛 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙, 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑠 𝑖𝑠 𝑚𝑜𝑟𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑖𝑓𝑢𝑙 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑛 ℎ𝑒𝑟. 𝐼'𝑚 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑎𝑡 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑓𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑎𝑘𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑡ℎ𝑎𝑡 𝑎𝑛𝑛𝑜𝑢𝑛𝑐𝑒𝑚𝑒𝑛𝑡, 𝐼 𝑤𝑎𝑠 𝑟𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑙𝑦 𝑑𝑖𝑠𝑎𝑝𝑝𝑜𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑒𝑑."

"𝑀𝑎𝑦𝑏𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑑 𝑎 𝑠𝑝𝑒𝑙𝑙 𝑜𝑛 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝑠𝑜 ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑖𝑛𝑡𝑟𝑜𝑑𝑢𝑐𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑖𝑛𝑠𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑑 𝑜𝑓 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑠. 𝑆ℎ𝑒 ℎ𝑎𝑠 𝑏𝑒𝑒𝑛 𝑗𝑒𝑎𝑙𝑜𝑢𝑠 𝑜𝑓 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑠 𝑓𝑟𝑜𝑚 𝑑𝑎𝑦 𝑜𝑛𝑒 𝑏𝑒𝑐𝑎𝑢𝑠𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑐𝑎𝑛'𝑡 𝑚𝑎𝑡𝑐ℎ 𝑢𝑝 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑠𝑡𝑎𝑛𝑑𝑎𝑟𝑑 𝑜𝑟 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ 𝑝𝑒𝑜𝑝𝑙𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑚𝑖𝑛𝑔𝑙𝑒𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑡ℎ."

"𝐼 𝑤𝑖𝑙𝑙 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑏𝑒 𝑜𝑛 𝑡𝑒𝑎𝑚 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑖𝑠 𝑎𝑛𝑑 𝐶𝑎𝑠𝑠. 𝑇ℎ𝑎𝑡'𝑠 𝑤ℎ𝑦 𝐼 𝑚𝑒𝑟𝑔𝑒𝑑 𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑖𝑟 𝑛𝑎𝑚𝑒𝑠 𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑒𝑡ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝐶ℎ𝑟𝑐𝑎𝑠𝑠." Another female voice said, making the others laugh.

"𝐼 𝑡ℎ𝑖𝑛𝑘 𝑤𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑜𝑢𝑙𝑑 𝑔𝑜 𝑎𝑠𝑘 𝑓𝑜𝑟 ℎ𝑒𝑟 𝑎𝑢𝑡𝑜𝑔𝑟𝑎𝑝ℎ 𝑠𝑖𝑛𝑐𝑒 𝑠ℎ𝑒'𝑠 ℎ𝑖𝑠 𝑤𝑖𝑓𝑒 𝑡𝑜 𝑏𝑒." One female voice prompted. "𝑆ℎ𝑒'𝑠 𝑛𝑜𝑤 𝑎 𝑐𝑒𝑙𝑒𝑏𝑟𝑖𝑡𝑦."

Although her back is turned on them, she's well aware they know she heard every of their words and those words always pierce her heart like a sharp blade. She remembered her father's words and tried to ignore them. She wiped her eyes from the tears building in them, she tried to concentrate but their words keep flooding her head. Is this what she gets for falling in love with the world famous Rock star?

"Hey?" Someone tapped on her shoulder. She turned and saw four girls, two seemed much older than her and the other two looked like they're the same age with her. "Can we get your autograph since you're his fianceé."

She heard sarcasm in the first girl's voice. She knew they are here to make fun of her, to mock her. "We heard you're his wife to be so I think we should be in good terms with you, right guys?" The second older girl asked.

"Do you mean his wife or the other woman in his life?" Another girl from the group asked and the others laughed very hard. "We all know Cass is his wife to be not her." The girl pointed at her.

Even though their words were ripping her off, wrecking her. She mustered up the courage and smiled at them. "If you will excuse me, I have some work to do inside." She turned to leave when one of them dragged her back. She literally pushed her to the hard floor.

Jane winced with pain as she landed on the floor, bruising her elbow. She looked at the four of them and they were all wearing bitchy smug smiles on their faces. What did she do to deserve all these? "We aren't done with you." The first older girl said. "And that's why you belong, on the floor. You shouldn't dream of becoming his wife, if you try to come between him and Cass. You will experience the power of fans."

She was speechless at what was happening. What did they want? Why are they doing this? Because Chris introduced her as his fianceé? She's now regretting why she attended the music gala. If she hadn't attended, it won't have resulted to this.

"Jane, are you okay?" She heard someone ask. She turned and saw Hailey rushing to her. She helped her stand up. "Are you all crazy?" She asked the four girls.

"Why did you push her?" She questioned with anger in her eyes. "Why are drinking medicine on another person's headache? It isn't her fault Chris chose her to be his wife, he chose her himself so you don't have any say in it. Don't you have anything better to do with your time than to pick on her?"

"You all are just jealous he chose her." Hailey continued. "Because one day she will no longer be Jane you once knew but the Rock star's wife and you all will worship at her feet. So better leave or I say mean and worst words to you and you won't be able to show your face to anyone." She threatened.

"Hmphh.." One of them scoffed and left. The others followed suit.

"She's a loser." Another said while walking away with the rest.

"Crazy fans." Hailey muttered to herself, turning her attention to Jane with worry written over her face.

"Are you okay? You're not hurt anywhere, right?"

"Just a small scratch but it's nothing." Jane smiled at her.

"Why did you let them talk trash about you?" Hailey asked as they walked into her painting studio. "You should have retaliated."

"I was only trying to listen to my Dad's words." Jane inserted, making her way into the room that's for music, where she practice her dance steps and songs. Hailey followed behind her and watched her connect the mp3 to the speakers there. She was playing "Sweet Melody" by little mix ( Female band ).

She sat on the transparent polish floor, nodding her head to the song. Hailey did the same, sitting on the floor.

"But you should have spoken to them." Hailey said. "Your father will understand, it's high time you start defending yourself. Don't let people look down on you like you are a nobody."

"Thank you for defending me out there." Jane said, relaxing on the cold floor. "I really appreciate that."

"You're welcome but you should start to stand up for yourself." Hailey snapped. "Don't let people do it for you, like your friends or family. You're grown up now and can take decision for yourself so you better start defending yourself because if you're too quiet, calm and cool. The whole world will toy with you so move out of your shell and girl up."

"I know you can do it, you just have to move out of your comfort zone. Don't let anyone talk trash about you like you're a slut." She concluded.

"Thanks, I will keep that in mind." She smiled, standing up. She started moving her feet to the beat of the song, letting her body glide to music. Hailey brought out her phone, recording her dance moves. She has great dance moves. Actually she was making it a live video, sending it to the net immediately without her knowledge. She knew if Jane comes to know about it. She will force her to delete it.

This girl is talented. Hailey told herself, watching her sway her body to the beating of the song. She can paint, she can draw, she can sing and dance too. Mehn she's extraordinary.

"You should me teach how to dance." She said, recording her dance. "I really want to dance like you, you're amazing in everything."

Jane laughed, turning to her. Unaware of what she was doing. Hailey held her phone in a way she will think she's going through stuffs in her phone. "I thought you saw dance as a stress. You never liked dancing and now you want me to teach you how to dance?"

"Yeah I said that." Hailey nodded. "But watching you now made me want to dance too. So please teach me your dance steps, I want to dance like you."

"You can dance if you focus on it, if you really want to dance." She inserted, smiling. "And the moves are already in you, I will only help bring them out."

"You're so sweet, if I were a boy. I would have fallen head over heels for you." Hailey joked. "You're everything a man wants in a woman but it's sad I'm not a boy." She pouted her mouth.

"You're silly." Jane laughed, turning her back at her and returning back to her dancing.

"𝑶𝒉 𝒎𝒚 𝒘𝒐𝒓𝒅." She heard Hailey shrieked. She turned and saw her face filled with horror, she wondered what she saw in her phone that made her shriek like that. She came close to her, sitting down.

"What happened?" She asked with concern. "Why did you scream like that?"

"Here, look." Hailey showed her the reason she screamed. On the screen of her phone, the headline was written. "𝑶𝑵𝑬 𝑶𝑭 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑻𝑶𝑷 𝑻𝑬𝑵 𝑴𝑼𝑺𝑰𝑪𝑰𝑨𝑵𝑺 𝑪𝑯𝑹𝑰𝑺 𝑷𝑼𝑳𝑳𝑬𝑫 𝑶𝑭𝑭 𝑨 𝑺𝑻𝑼𝑵𝑻 𝒀𝑬𝑺𝑻𝑬𝑹𝑫𝑨𝒀 𝑨𝑻 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑴𝑼𝑺𝑰𝑪 𝑮𝑨𝑳𝑨 𝑩𝒀 𝑫𝑬𝑪𝑳𝑨𝑹𝑰𝑵𝑮 𝑱𝑨𝑵𝑬 𝑯𝑰𝑺 𝑾𝑰𝑭𝑬 𝑻𝑶 𝑩𝑬 𝑰𝑵 𝑷𝑼𝑩𝑳𝑰𝑪 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑰𝑻 𝑺𝑬𝑬𝑴𝑺 𝑯𝑰𝑺 𝑭𝑨𝑵𝑺 𝑨𝑹𝑬 𝑵𝑶𝑻 𝑯𝑨𝑷𝑷𝒀 𝑾𝑰𝑻𝑯 𝑯𝑰𝑴 𝑨𝑵𝑫 𝑭𝑶𝑹 𝑻𝑯𝑬 𝑺𝑨𝑴𝑬 𝑹𝑬𝑨𝑺𝑶𝑵. "Oh my!" Jane gasped. She thought she was the only one going through hard time, she never knew Chris is going through the same thing. "His fans are really angry." She said with terror on her face. "Why are they doing this to him just because he introduced me to them?"

"They really hate you, that's why they are lashing on him." Hailey replied. "They always chipped him with Cass so introducing you to the medias instead of Cass made them go berserk."

They scrolled through the comment box and saw hateful comments like.

"𝑆ℎ𝑒 𝑠𝑜𝑙𝑑 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑜𝑓𝑓 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑖𝑚 𝑠𝑜 𝐼'𝑚 𝑛𝑜𝑡 𝑠𝑢𝑟𝑝𝑟𝑖𝑠𝑒 ℎ𝑒 𝑐ℎ𝑜𝑠𝑒 ℎ𝑒𝑟, 𝑗𝑢𝑑𝑔𝑖𝑛𝑔 𝑏𝑦 𝑡ℎ𝑒 𝑤𝑎𝑦 𝑠ℎ𝑒 𝑎𝑙𝑤𝑎𝑦𝑠 𝑡ℎ𝑟𝑜𝑤 ℎ𝑒𝑟𝑠𝑒𝑙𝑓 𝑡𝑜 ℎ𝑖𝑚. One female fan named Miranda commented.

They scrolled down and saw more hateful words. They really want him to be with Cass.

"They really despise me this much?" She asked herself. She watched many mocking videos about the announcement Chris made. Some of his fans literally caricatured her. Saying mean and hurtful words about her as if they known her all their lives.

"Wow babe, I'm speechless." Hailey prompted. "I never saw this coming, I never knew his declaration will get you this much hatred. Your haters just increased."

"I'm more worried about Chris." Jane said, biting her thumb.

"What do you mean?" Hailey asked, surprise. "You should be worried about yourself not him, you are the topic of the whole Internet and you're here worried about him. Why?"

"Because of me, he's loosing his fans and he came fifth in some of the charts." She replied. "I need to talk to his fans, I need to clear his name and mine too. I don't want him suffering because of me."

"What do you mean by that?" Hailey asked. "How are you going to do that, his fans are ready to rip you apart if given the opportunity."

"Don't worry you will see how, trust me." She said, feeling nervous and restless at the same time.
