Chapter 25: STAY AWAY FROM HER.

The city skies were so bright but it looks like the clouds were trying to swallow the sun but the sun fought his way out, taking dominion over the whole earth, shining it's light over mankind. Yes, the rain have had its way for enough. It's time to let the sun shine forth and judging from the weather forecast, it won't rain for the three whole days.

The birds were going around, doing their normal business while some perch on the branch of trees singing joyfully with their bird's voices. Jane was in her studio, sitting on a stool, drawing a portrait work for some client.

The pictures and the videos of Chris proposing to Cass still lingered on her mind. Each time and each day she thought about it, it left her shattered. She really loved Chris, truly loved him for who he is not because he was a celebrity. She loved the real Chris but she guessed fate doesn't want her to belong to him. Fate has written another chapter in her life. There's the saying that goes you don't always get that which your heart aspires.

Life is full of ups and downs, life itself is pain, We live in misery, life is a mystery. We don't know what it has in stock for us but what ever life throws on our ways. We should embrace it without questions.

It just a matter of time, it doesn't last forever. What we don't get now doesn't mean we won't get it in the future. Everything in this life is timed but she guessed her own case was different. She harboured her feelings for him for complete 5 good years but Chris wasn't seeing that. He couldn't see that her love was pure and genuine, he thinks she was only after vvchim for his fame and wealth.

And Chris isn't in love with her as her sister claimed. If he ever had an atom of feelings for her, he wouldn't have proposed to Cass. And Cass being his childhood friend.... she will make a good wife for him and she knows him inside out. She told herself to stop thinking about them, to remove her mind from them but she couldn't.

She will have to try everything in her power to fall in love with Ethan. She needs to spend more time with him to remove her mind from Chris and his family problems. If he doesn't want to spend the rest of his life with her so will she. She deserves good and better....

She was drawing but her mind and soul weren't in what she was doing. The image of him proposing to Cass flooded her thoughts, she decided to sing one of her composed song to remove her mind from him.

There were a lot of tears I had

to cry through, a lot of battles

left me battered and bruised

And I was shattered, had my

heart ripped in two

I was broken, I was broken.

There was a lot times I stumbled

and crashed.

When I was on the edge, down to my

my last chance, so many times I was

so convinced that I was over, I was over

But I had to fall yeah

To rise above it all.

I'm grateful for the storm.....

Made me appreciate the sun...

She was cut off by a voice behind her, she turned and saw Hailey smiling at her. She wore a yellow Mickey mouse tank top and a Jean trouser which has openings on the knees. She didn't apply too much make ups yet she still looked pretty.

Her wavey hair streamed down to her back adding to her beauty. "Wow, you really have to go a music audition. You're talented but you're just wasting it behind the close doors of your studio." She inserted, sitting down on an another stool beside Jane.

"You know I have auditioned for like how many times now but I end up getting rejected, fate isn't by my side." Jane inserted, adding a light shade on the left cheek of her drawing.

"They're all deaf or more like they are scared you will outshine the others but really babe. You have a wonderful voice, sincerely saying I was moved by your voice although this isn't the first time I'm hearing you sing but each time I hear you sing. I fall in love with your voice over and over again." Hailey confessed, joking.

"If God created you a boy, I wonder what girls will go through in your hands. You will be number one fuckboy of the society. Hashtag#." Jane said, jokily.

"Of course, you know that already." Hailey joked. "And you will be the first girl to fall for my charms." She winked at her.

Jane shook her head at her silliness, anyways that's not what was bothering her right now. She needs to tell her friend about Chris's proposal to her and she always trusts in her friend's advice.

"Chris proposed to me." She inserted, looking at the now shocked Hailey.

"What?." Hailey screamed, her eyes widened with shock. "What did you say?. Chris proposed to you, did I just hear you well or was it my ears deceiving me?."

"Actually he came over to my house with his parents to propose to me." She prompted, Hailey could hear the pain in her voice and wondered what was wrong.

"How did this happen?." Hailey asked, getting interested in the story. "When did it happen?."

"Okay, listen and don't freak out." Jane cautioned.

Hailey nodded, urging her to continue. "But if there's anything to freak out, I will freak out."

"Mr Bruce is Chris's father....." Jane inserted.

"What?." Hailey screamed. "You mean to tell me that man who gave you that portrait work to deliver to his house is Chris's Dad?...."

"Yes and when I went to deliver the work to him, he declared me as his son's wife to be." Jane concluded.

"Wow, wow, I'm speechless." Hailey shook her head. "How could he declare you Chris's wife to be?. Did you ever tell him you were interested in marrying his son?."

"What was your response to that, I hope you declined the offer?."

"Yes." Jane answered, making Hailey to smile. She hated Chris although he has never done any wrong thing to her but because of the way he hurts her friend made her hate him with passion. "Yes, I declined because it came as a shock to me. I was not expecting it."

"Good." Hailey said curtly. "You did well cause I can't stand the sight of that so called Rock star....."

"But...." Jane interrupted her. "After some convincing from his parents, I agreed to marry him. His Mom begged me to do so, she said she couldn't find a better partner for him."

"Wait, wait, wait." Hailey said, cutting her off. "You agreed to marry him because his parents convinced you?. Why would you?. Why do you want to make the greatest mistake of your life just because you don't want to hurt his parents?."

"Girl, I don't understand why you can't let go of Chris. And I know you are excited to be his wife.....and if he agrees to marry that's because he doesn't want to hurt his parents feelings but I tell you Chris will never see you as his wife." Hailey concluded.

'I know that's why I'm calling this marriage off." Jane inserted. "I can't get married to a man who only thinks about himself and who goes around doing what he wants without checking how others would feel."

"What did he do this time?." Hailey asked, sensing something was off. What prompted her to reject marrying Chris and what did he do to her that made her say that?.

"You didn't see the news?." Jane asked, darkening one side of the forehead of her drawing.

"No." Hailey answered simply. "You know I don't pay attention to news that much but what happened, why did you ask if I didn't watch the news?."

"Because it's all over the medias that he proposed to his childhood friend Cass." Jane replied, finding it hard to voice it out.

"What?." Hailey shrieked. "Wtf?."

"After he coming to my house with a marriage proposal." Jane continued. "He went ahead too to propose to Cass."

"I knew it." Hailey chipped in. "That guy is of no good, he doesn't think before he acts. I wonder which entertainment company signed him to be a musician but anyways I'm happy you realize he's not yours. He's not good for you, I never liked that guy one bit and you deserve a better man."

"That's why I want to give Ethan a chance when he returns from the states."' Jane said confidently. She has tried enough, she can't keep holding on to someone who wants to let her go. She deserves good things in life, Chris has hurt her for far too long and it's now pay back time. She will try everything in her power to fall in love with Ethan and show that God forsaken musician she's a rare gem.

"Yes." She added. "I will make my heart to fall for Ethan. It's time to give that guy a chance, I have hurt him too and I will make it up to him."

"Good." Hailey encouraged. "Show that celebrity of a guy you deserve better. Make him see reasons why he shouldn't toy with your feelings....you make me proud this time."

Jane chuckled. "You're silly."

"No, I'm being sincere." Hailey confessed. "It pains me when you shed tears for that guy. It hurts me too."

"Don't worry, I will never shed a tear for him anymore." Jane smiled. "Time of crying is over, time to smile. After rain comes sunshine."

"I'm glad you're fighting for yourself." Hailey smiled. "You inspire me." She placed her hand on her chest dramatically causing Jane to laugh.

"Silly girl."

It's been five days since Fortune was suspended. The three girls were busy discussing with each other, having fun. Not having Fortune to preach to them was a great thing, she was a throng to their flesh. That served her right and that suspension will teach her a lesson not to mess with them. They stood at the hallway of the class chit chatting with each other. Vincent walked pass them with Jeff and Jeremy beside him. I'm beginning to think that Jeremy and Jeff are his bodyguards, I mean they're every where he is.

"Hi V." Cara greeted him, earning his attention. He put on a stoic face, he didn't even smile when she greeted him. Why was his face like that, did something happen?. "Thank you for standing up for me that day, thanks for showing that girl her place."

"Hey, point of correction." Vincent began. "I didn't support you because I wanted to support you, I did it to teach that girl a lesson. She's a pain in the ass."

"I know right?." Amanda asked rhetorically, smirking. "She deserves what came to her but to tell you the truth, she didn't steal Cara's stuff. We put them them there so she will get suspended. You know suspension is the punishment for theft."

"You did what?." Jeremy and Jeff chorused. "Why would you do that to her?." Jeff asked.

"To get back at her." Clara prompted. "She has troubled and insulted us enough, we showed her her place by suspending her from school."

"You girls are heartless." Jeremy pointed out. "An innocent girl was suspended from school simply because you can't stand her sight." Vincent never spoke, in as much as what those girls did to Fortune was wrong but he was happy. She's paying for what she did to him, he didn't give a damn about her. She can go to hell for all he cares. That girl is nothing but a wolf in sheep's clothing to him.

"V, why aren't you saying anything?." Jeff asked getting upset at what those girls said. "Fortune was suspended because of them, you insulted her thinking she stole her things." Jeff said, pointing at Cara.

"Why are you getting paranoid over it?." V asked, taking Jeff and Jeremy by surprise. "She got what she deserved and who cares whether she stole them or not. The deed has been done and she's suspended."

"What?." Jeremy asked. "Dude are you even listening to yourself, you humiliated her in front of the whole class. You called her names and you're asking us why we are so paranoid?."

"Dude, really I'm short of words." Jeff prompted, shaking his head. "You amaze me..... really."

"Since when do you two start to defend Fortune?." V asked, staring at them. "I thought you two never liked her, what changed?. You two said she's a throng on your flesh."

"Of course she's a throng on our flesh." Jeff said sharply. "But we're humans not some demons, we have human conscience in us. She's at home paying for a crime she didn't commit..... and as for the three of you." He pointed to the three girls. "You will pay for what you did."

"Oh please spare us that rubbish." Amanda inserted and waved her hand dismissively at what Jeff said. "We won't pay for anything, Cara's stuffs were found in her bag and she got suspended, how is that our fault?."

"I'm impressed by your speech, you know." They heard a voice behind them. They turned and saw Ada standing there, clutching her books to her chest. Giving them dead glares.

She has been listening to their conversation all this while. Her friend was suspended because they can't stand her presence especially Vincent. She thought he was different from those girls but no...he proved her wrong.

"You put your stuffs in my friend's bag so she would get a suspension?." She asked rhetorically.

"Yes, what's wrong with that?." Cara answered sarcastically. "Your friend deserves more than that...more like being expelled from school."

Out of anger, Ada slapped her. "You all are demons." She yelled. "My friend was suspended because of your silly act. Aren't you ashamed of yourself?."

"Hey, I won't tolerate you slapping someone in my pres....." Vincent implied but he was cut off by her.

"I thought you were different." She inserted, directing her words to Vincent. "When you defended me in front of these girls, I thought you were a nice person and I tried to convince my friend you aren't bad like you seemed. She tried to warn me about you, I refuse to believe her but today you proved me wrong."

"You are the worst being I have ever came across with." She walked close to him, poking his chest with her finger. "You disgust me, I wonder what you think of yourself, I regret allowing my friend to work as your maid. You're terrible."

"Hey mind how you talk to him." Clara prompted.

"Shushh..." Ada silenced. "I wasn't talking to you. I'm talking to Vincent, you're not Vincent."

She kept poking his chest with her finger very hard. Pouring out her whole heart to him. Vincent never spoke up, He was speechless. The once fragile girl now has the courage to talk to him. She always do what ever he instructed her to do but here she was having the nerve to talk back him. No only was he speechless but amazed too. Well he wasn't surprise, since Fortune is her friend, she will influence her with her character.

"But I warning you." She stopped poking him. "Stay away from my friend, all of you." She pointed at the 6 of them. "Stay away from her, if anything else happens to my friend. I will hold you all responsible."

"Stay away from her." She backed away from them and ran her way inside the classroom.

"Ada wait." Jeremy ran after her into the classroom.

"Are you satisfied now?." Jeff asked V and the three girls, sarcastically and rhetorically before making his way to the classroom.
