Chapter 2: Trethan
The man was in a city called Beline which was the capital of the Jarus kingdom . The man decided to become an adventurer because it suited his talents and anyone could do it. He knew where the adventurers guild was and walked straight towards it. A few people glanced at him and seemed bewildered. He walked to the counter where a receptionist greeted him.
"Welcome to the adventurers guild. Are you here to post a request or register as an adventurer?"
"To register as an adventurer."
"Ok. Follow me. I'll explain in another room about the things you need to know as an adventurer."
The man followed the receptionist upstairs to a room with two sofas facing each other and a small table in between them.
"Please take a seat. Do you know how to read and write?"
"Yes."
"Alright, please fill out this form and I'll explain about being an adventurer."
The man nodded and quickly filled out the form and handed it back to the receptionist. She looked over it and looked at the man questioningly. She then left the room and came back with a crystal ball.
"Place your hand on this ball please. Are you a criminal in any kingdom?"
"No."
"Why did you not write your name?"
"I don't have a name."
"Well you're not lying but how can you not have a name?"
"I can't remember if I had a name and I didn't interact with people much so I didn't need one."
"Well you need a name so do you have any you like?"
"No."
"Well choose one that you know of."
"Hmmm... Does Nina work?"
The receptionists name was Nina and she had a namecard clipped onto her shirt and the man clearly looked at it before saying it.
"... I'll just choose a name for you."
"Alright."
"You're name is Trethan from now on. So I'll explain now so listen carefully. Adventurers have cards that identify them. An adventurer does requests from us and does them in return for money or they can kill monsters and sell their materials to us. The amount of money depends on the rank of the request. Adventurers have ranks and can only take a request on rank above them. To rank up an adventurer can either complete quests or kill monsters and collect proof of the kill. Adventurers are not given special treatment and laws still apply to them. If you become a criminal you will not be an adventurer anymore. Adventurer ranks are E, D, C, B, A, and S. Each rank has a corresponding color which will change when you rank up. From E to S the colors are Brown, Yellow, Green, Blue, Red, and Purple. You are an E rank and will have a brown guild card. Once we are done your guild card will take about five minutes to be made. Do you have any questions?"
"None."
"Ok then you may wait here and I will go make your guild card."
"Thank you."
The receptionist Nina left and came back bout five minutes later just like she said.
"Here is your guild card. You can take a request and sell monster materials to the guild whenever you want, you just have to show your guild card."
"Thank you for your help."
After saying that Trethan got up and left. He went to a nearby forest and hunted monsters until dark. He went back to the inn he had previously rented a room at and went to sleep. When he woke up he went to the adventurers guild and found Nina again.
"I want to sell monster materials."
"Do you have a space ring or magic bag?"
"Yes I have two space rings with materials."
"Two space rings? Ok follow me."
Once again Nina led him to a room but this one was bigger and didn't have furniture or decorations.
"Can you take out the materials?"
"Yes."
Trethan took out two rings and then many different monster materials filled the room. Nina stared wide eyed at the amount of materials that had appeared.
"How long ago did you start collecting these?"
"Just a week. Why?"
"A week?! Well I guess it doesn't matter if you lie about it but this is going to take a while so you should come back tomorrow."
"Ok, I'll do that."
Trethan left the guild and the adventurers guild was in an uproar for the rest of the day as a rank E adventurer that had just registered yesterday had brought in a huge amount of monster materials. They even found materials from a dragon which had a body filled with precious materials but were also known to be the strongest creatures in the world. Anybody who could kill a dragon had to have the strength of an S rank adventurer and Trethan who was an E rank just showed up with a full dragons materials.
