Chapter 7: Ch. 7: Face Revealed

Royal Palace of Yan Empire...

Kila enters the emperor's chambers once again, the smell of old people mixed with dark magic has gotten a bit stronger. But it was expected, any longer he would be way too weak to take the cure. General Obi turn to her, "if he dies its your head." He says. She ignores him and pulls out the cures, one was the powder and the other was a small bottle with a bit of mana poured in. After giving the Emperor both she turn to general Obi, "he'll get some color by tomorrow and will be healthy by the day after." She tells him. "For your sake he better." He growls.

Kila put the empty bowl and bottle into her spatial bag, "you should smile more, those wrinkles on your brow make you look older." She points out. "get out. Also find the culprit." he says. "No, that's not my job, in two days the Emperor will be cured. I only wish to be sent home." Kila says. It's best that she left Yan Empire as fast as possible, she thought about it and she felt that she rather not be reminded of a past that didn't belong to her. "If you find the person responsible for cursing the Emperor then not only will I make sure he sends you home, Ill be sure you don't go home empty handed." General Obi says.

Kila glances back at him, "I didn't come for any reward, I was forced to come here. You be sure to remember that, General." Kila says pointing a finger into his chest. She turns and leaves the Emperor's chamber, she will not involve herself any longer. She did her part as a doctor so that she wouldn't regret letting a patient die. But even so why did she feel as though running away wasn't going to solve anything? The walk back to the Doctor's Courtyard was short, it didn't give her enough time to think at all, "you still live. If so you must have some seriously impressive medical skills. Alright I decided I will like to follow you around." Doctor An says as soon as she enters the house.

Kila cringes, "no thanks, don't you work for the Emperor or something? And you must not be that great at medicine considering I'm the one that ended up curing the Emperor in the first place." She says walking over to a table chair and sitting down. Doctor An shrugs, "like I said before I already had a job so I was out when the Emperor got sick. Besides I only have the title Royal Doctor because I'm quite reversed in medicine. If I weren't they'd have kicked me out a while ago." He points out. Kila guess that did make sense, but still she rather not have the extra headache.

"I saved you, remember. You have to let me tag along, perhaps I could learn a few things." He says with a smile. Ugh. Kila leans back and crosses her arms. It was true that he saved her, "fine, you can tag along, but I have to set a few rules. Never betray my trust, if you wish to know about me, ask me like a normal person would. Don't go poisoning my drinks with sleep potion." Kila tells him. "Wow, that's pretty specific." He mutters, that just made him even more curious about this young lady who's medicine skills may even surpass his own. "Let's not wonder anymore, what's done is done. Since you wish to follow me just know that I plan to leave Yan Empire." Kila points out.

"Is that so, then where will we go?" He asks. It's best that she didn't go back to that mountain unless to get her things, she rather not run into the Yan Army again in this lifetime. "Doesn't matter somewhere far from this place." She says. Doctor An watches her thoughtfully, if he's not mistaken wouldn't he say that she was running from something? Or maybe someone? Judging from the look on her face he probably shouldn't ask. "So didn't you make more than 2 cures? If I'm not mistaken that Sea Dragon's Core can make more than one type of cure if used properly." He says.

"That's right, I made a cure for myself." She says not looking at him. "Can I ask something?" She says nothing, that didn't mean no right? "Why do you hide under that veil?" He asks. Kila looks over at him, "you're asking me that now?" She held a bit of coldness in her tone. It must be a huge deal for her to be this closed off, "I am, It's not because I care about what you look like. To me you're a beauty because of the way you hold yourself. Not because of what you may look like. Are you ugly? Perhaps you are hiding a snout." He kept guessing while she ignored him.

Finally she sighs, "do you really want to see what's under my veil?" She asks standing suddenly. Doctor An nods, could it really be that bad. He gulps, well he made up his mind, no matter her looks he'll still be her friend. Kila reaches up hesitantly, the voices in her head reminding her on how cruel people could be. But why did she feel as though Doctor An was different? She takes a deep breath and removes the viel. She expected some kind of reaction; like disgust or even a change of personality. Instead she got silence, was it that horrid?
