Chapter 23: Slime Fight and The Shining Blue Flower

Dreary, grey, and lifeless. That was my impression, and prediction, before and after I entered the underground city, respectively. The narrow alleys were empty, the shops closed, and all around us were gazes from behind curtains. There was nothing, and no one, and a pandemic of silence permeated the roads. Well, save for a few. Those of can't afford housing, those who had nowhere to go, and those forced by various circumstances to stay outside, were here with us. They kept their distance, from us, and from each other.

What was the problem, exactly? Who, or what, killed those people? Why would they target the city's pillars and foundation? Should I just ask the system? Won't it just dismiss my questions for unknown reasons? All those questions swirled in my mind.

Well, there was no harm in trying.

'System, what the hell happened here?'
