Chapter 20: His next act had betrayed his conflicted heart.

A girl stood blankly in the dark space, as ravel as her hair. She stiffly peeked around her, yet all she could notice was herself, alone, and the darkness.

But her sense long known someone was gazing over her. Watching every of her movement, making her spine shiver and chill.

A whisper suddenly rang without a warning on her ear.

«Come here...»

The girl flinched back and subconsciously cover her ear. With a horror face, she gasped in rhythm with her thumping heart. The fear finally ate her, and she began to run away in the darkness.

Ran and ran desperately. Pity, she felt that she still stayed in the same place. Hope faded away as she crouched down in terror, clutching and hiding her head on her knees.

She closed her eyes tightly and struggled to ignore her eerie surrounding, but failed, it failed. Her breathing became messier as she felt someone staring straight at her.

She courage herself to peeked her eyes at her white feet, only to find another pair of pale feet right in front of her.

"Ahh!"

The girl instantly jumped back and sat on the ground as she looked up with her eyes wide, showing a trace of fright.

With fluttering eyes, she saw herself standing in front of her. «She» was more mature and carried an evil and wicked aura.

«She» smirked devilishly at her and opened her mouth.

«I'll catch you soon——»

"Gasp!!"

Kencana snapped her eyes open and hurriedly sat up to check her surrounding. She was still on her bed and did the other three girls drooling on their own beds.

Her breathing soon stabilized again as she realized she was inside her room. She wiped her sweaty forehead before getting out of the room. Walked toward the kitchen, she took a glass of water, sipping it slowly.

Kencana tried to recall the nightmare she just had. Yet the woman's had become blurry. She did not remember at all who that woman was.

"Huh!!"

Kencana rolled her eyes and put the dream back to her mind, did not wish to be tangled with it, anymore.

It was just a dream anyway. She would rather think about how to kick Arawinda's ass to soothe her unsolve raging heart.

She looked out the window and found the sky had brightened a bit, decided to walk out around the academy in her jacket.

Although the atmosphere was still quiet, there were already some students hanging out around the academy like her. Either eating breakfast early or merely exercising.

As Kencana walked, a group of students hurrying toward the gate caught her attention, especially among them there was Arawinda. She was in her casual clothes and wearing a hat covering her flashy red hair.

Heh, even she had become ashes, she could still recognize her easily!

Kencana immediately put on her hoodie and skulked along to eavesdrop.

Arawinda herself was hugging her arms feeling cold at the morning temperature. She had yet to get accustomed to it even she often woke up early.

As she hugged herself tightly, she and the group reached the gate. They waited silently for the guard to come as they were told to.

One of the kids in the group finally opened his mouth, breaking the tension.

"By the way... I heard from my big sister, the lab is not that scary..."

Arawinda glanced at the kids' faces one by one, realizing that they were more nervous than her. If she was afraid to be found sooner, what made them feel so anxious?

"At first I thought so but recently I often see death zombies being carried to the lab..."

"... You mean they did something unbelievable to that zombies?!"

"They won't do anything to us, right?"

Arawinda pursed her lips and gazed at the clear sky.

Hm, alright, the kids' worry was simple. She pitied a bit those researchers. No matter what world she was in, the word researcher sound ominous. But they were still human beings, and worse, they worked hard daily non-stop.

Right, in her old life, her co-worker once complained about being in a marriage with a researcher, busy with his research, and end up divorcing. Since then, that co-worker dislike the most when hearing something related to research.

Anyway, the kids should not worry about anything. According to the story, there will be a new way to improve the human core coming from this lab after researching those zombies. This was also one of the reasons why the tournament was held. Perhaps, right now, the lab was busy researching it.

"They are here!"

Arawinda stared in the direction the kid pointed and saw a group of men in casual clothes not far, couldn't help but sigh inwardly.

She knew they wish to stay low-key, but please look at how trained their body was, even their pace was different from ordinary people...

Abruptly, her eyes captured a person which so different. His hands were in his pockets, ambling among mature men leisurely. And his face obviously showed the word «not caring».

Who else except her «prince»??

Arawinda saw him glance briefly at her group before turning his eyes away. But perhaps he had seen her in that glance, he shifted his eyes again toward her group and directly look at her...

This time, it was Arawinda who turned her head away! Darn, she was sure the villain was staring at her unblinkingly! It made her feel guilty for some reason!

"Isn't that Senior Raden? I've never seen him in the academy these weeks."

"I saw him in Wall#1 days ago. He should be busy training himself."

"But why would he train in Wall#1?? He's strong, he should be in Wall#2 at least."

Arawinda twitched her mouth and glanced lightly at the boy who had just talked.

The last sentence had hurt her pride. What was wrong with training in Wall#1? As if you could kill zombies in that wall with bare hands! Hiss, she really wished to grab a zombie and snap its head right in front of him immediately!

While Arawinda screaming out her grievances in her heart, Raden and the guards reached them.

The guards observed the face of the students and were satisfied everyone come. One of them said, "Good students. Let's go before people start their activities. It's better not to catch much attention."

Raden watched them begin to walk and he followed at the very back. He gazed at the environment, like houses and some trees, yet he couldn't help but dart his eyes again at the girl walking alone in front of him.

She wore a big hat almost covering her bad mood face, even cuddling to herself, making her look particularly small in her big sweater. It was kind of ...cute???

Why again... This thief must have done something to him.

Taking a deep breath, Raden brushed away his bizarre thought.

Still, his next act of striding and walking alongside her had betrayed his conflicted heart.

—————

"It's merely five laps, and you're dead? Hah!"

In the training field, Trainer Nehan folded his arms, smugly looking down at the young man who was lying on the ground, gasping out of breath.

Sun gritted his teeth and tremblingly get up with his knees as support. He forced his smirk, "Why do you think so, Trainer? I only need to catch my breath first!"

As soon as he said it, he resume his jogging around the academy, leaving Arthur and Adam speechless at his stubborn act. Could he just beg for forgiveness from Trainer Nehan instead?

Arthur slapped his forehead, "Stupid."

"He just doesn't want to admit defeat." Adam gazed blankly on Sun's leaving back.

Listening to them, Trainer Nehan snickered, "Let him be. He always depends on his ability. His body is probably almost as weak as that golden princess of yours."

Arthur and Adam tongue-tied, was unable to refute. Indeed, what he said was true. Thinking back on how Arawinda was determined to work out, maybe they should push Sun to join her...

Out of nowhere, a piece of small leaf hovered in front of Trainer Nehan, which he clutched immediately.

They knew it wasn't an ordinary leaf, as there wasn't any tree in the middle of the field. And sure enough...

"Tell that monkey boy to stop. He'll continue later after I got back."

Without waiting for the students' response, Trainer Nehan took out something like a stick. He snapped it and he vanish from the spot.

In the next second, Trainer Nehan appeared in a spacious room, and surprisingly there was another person who just arrived like him.

"Good morning, Mr, Nehan. It's a good way to start the day, isn't it?"

The person was much younger than the old Nehan, probably around his forties. His generous face always contain a smile and friendly vibe, yet only the closest ones knew that this person had a tricky and complex mind.

The Counselor of Offensive, Jaka Labda.

Trainer Nehan smug and slapped his firm shoulder, "It's my honor listening to your complaint so early in the morning, young Jaka."

Jaka sighed as he touched his own forehead, "It's my third time of this year taking a day off and I plan to attend the tea party of my lovely daughter with her little friends, alas..."

"I envy you having to see your cute daughter every morning. Me?" Trainer laughed at himself, "I even have to punish a monkey boy myself as soon as I get off my bed today."

Jaka chuckled in amusement, "Your pension life seems pretty fun. I'll consider following your path in the future." He then patted his back, "Let's go in first or the young chief will be waiting for a long time."

Trainer Nehan patted his back as well, "Good-good. Let's go. It's an emergency meeting after all."

I make a change about the lab where Danastri died. Previously, I mention the lab as the school lab. I change it to the base lab. Thank you for understanding~ (• ▽ •;)
