Chapter 17: That was where she lost her life in the story!

"No-no! Keep your hand away!" Gendis pushed his annoying hands away, not aware of his thought at all.

Sun snorted and stood up, reluctantly stretching his arm to her, "Okay! If you don't want to then come and get up! Your legs will go numb if you squat for too long!"

Gendis stared widely at his hand and his wrinkled face again and again. She bit her lower lip and said quietly, "... It's already numb..."

"Tsk! So troublesome!"

In the next moment, Sun bent down his body with his arms toward her. He clasped tightly the small waist of the girl and lift her up from the floor easily as if she was not heavy at all.

"What?!! Hey!!"

Gendis felt her heart beat faster at his sudden movement! She subconsciously sought something to hold to stabilize herself afraid she would fall, and her hands finally clench over something but...

"Ouch! My hair! Stop clutching my hair!"

Gendis glared at him and tighten her grip, "It's your fault lifting me so suddenly! I can only hold onto your hair!"

"Aih-ah! Okay-okay! Don't pull! I'll let you down!"

Sun struggled not to feel the pain and keep her from falling. He steadily carried her toward the nearby table and let her sit on it before grasping a pair of fair hands that still gripping his hair.

He gritted his jaw and forced his smirk as he twitched his eye at her, "... Good girl, let go of your hands, hm?"

Gendis saw his irritated face immediately let go. She turned her head away and folded her arms, "Huh!"

Grimacing in pain, Sun rubbed his scalp and smoothed his hair before fixing his headband. It was truly the first time his hair was grabbed by someone. Now he understood why girls would often fight by grabbing hair instead of using their ability. It was the easiest way to make the opponent feel so much pain...

He sighed inwardly then glanced at the girl in front of him who rarely went silent. He couldn't help but ask, "... What's wrong with you now? Are you hurt? Did your stomach ache?"

"No..." Gendis briefly stared at him before looking down at her legs and swaying them.

"If you don't want to tell me, just go back to your dorm. The next lesson will start two hours later anyway." Sun turned to pace away, "I'll send you back."

Listening to him say the word dormitory, Gendis instantly widened her eyes and jump down from the table, "Arawinda!!"

"Huh??"

Sun gaped at the small figure dash passing by him. Her agitated appearance made him interested thus he went to follow her.

....

Teacher's office.

"Although it's just a baseless rumor, we still have to check it to calm those students."

One of the teachers inside voiced his opinion. Most of them listened to his opinion nodded in agreement.

"That's right. It's also to prevent the rumor continue to spread outside the academy. It'll damage our reputation."

Teacher Nandano leaned back on his seat, "We'll do that. But we also have to know where such a rumor comes from. Whether is there any motive behind it or not."

He then narrowed his eyes at the old man, Teacher Kusno, at his desk.

Teacher Kusno did not care about his eye and tapped his finger on his desk, "The student said it's from the black students. Let the guard start their investigation from them."

The other teachers nodded before the two of them took initiative to sent a request to the guards in Wall#1.

The teachers soon went busy back with their matters and Teacher Kusno take advantage of it step out of the room.

Putting his hands in his pocket his old eyes stared deeply at the kids chatting and laughing at the big garden seen from afar. He seems to the thought of something which made his wrinkled face have a slight smile. A shallow sigh came out from his wizened lips, followed by saying, "It's not me."

"You're the most impatience of all of us."

A familiar nonchalantly voice sounded behind him, yet he motionlessly kept his posture. However, his aged face had returned to expressionless again.

He opened his mouth with a hint of sarcasm, "It should be you, kid."

....

Inside the private dorm, a girl with dowdy hair curled up on her bed clutching something shiny in her hands. Her forehead was sweating, and her originally sickly face had finally claimed back its color.

The girl was struggled to keep her eyelids from falling, reminded herself with the shiny jewel was still within her hands. Just as almost she fell asleep...

Knock-knock-knock!

"Arawinda??"

Arawinda directly lost her sleepiness as she snapped open her eyes, sitting up staring straight at the door with a thumping heart. Thankfully Gendis knocked on the door first, if not it would be dangerous for her once she know about the core!

She hurriedly stored back the shiny jewel to her empty core and yelled, "I'm awake!"

The door soon opened and Gendis came in with an uneasy face. Yet the moment she saw the face of the girl on the bed, her eyes went round, "You... heal up so quickly?"

Arawinda raised her hand to comb her hair with her fingers and grinned, "I told you I'll be fine after I sleep!"

"What heals up? What fine? Oh princess, did you actually get sick??" Sun popped out his head from outside through the opened door.

How did the two appear together without the other magicians??

Arawinda squinted her eyes, glanced back and forth between the two kids in front of her but still answered truthfully, "I'm just tired."

Since she was healing up, Gendis won't care about it anymore. She immediately sat on the bed beside her and asked, "Do you know what kind of rumor I've heard when I'm in the class?"

Not waiting for the reaction of the two, Gendis told them about the rumor, not skipping any part related to it, including the response of the student after being asked by the teacher.

"... Infected?" Arawinda muttered thoughtfully, before sharply glancing at the clueless boy on the door frame.

She clearly remembered how he said with a loud voice that she was scratched by a zombie. She suspected that someone accidentally heard him and assumed his talk was true. After all, except them, many students also loved to skip lessons, right?

The clueless boy, Sun, knitted his eyebrows, "Is the training center effectiveness has decreased?"

"Who knows! Anyway, they will take care of it. Maybe, searching for the suspect who is infected?" Gendis shrugged her shoulders.

Arawinda fell into deep thought. The black student made her recall a certain someone.

Right, Kencana.

If it really was her then most likely, the target was her. Coincidentally, she had a fever today and it was one of the symptoms of being infected. In case she was unable to prove herself that she was not scratched by a zombie, they would drag her for treatment, to the lab... to the lab earlier... laboratory...

Oh my, goodness! That was where she lost her life in the story! Darn! Why was she truly unfortunate?

When the guard came to the academy to inspect, she would definitely be the most suspected person! What should she say to them by then?!

Sun noticed the face of the girl on the bed changed weirdly, he tilted his head guessing blatantly, "Princess, if you have a stomach ache just go! Don't delay it! It's not good for your health!"

"If she delayed it then isn't it because you're here?!" Gendis scowled at his irksome face

Arawinda massaged her temples, felt a headache listening to their bickering. She must think about how to prove herself without evidence yet their presence had disturbed her peace of mind.

She sighed out loud, "Alright, I don't have any stomach ache or anything but rather I suddenly feel hungry. I haven't eaten breakfast yet." She then took her contribution point card and showed it to them, "Who wants to help buy some light food for me? You can buy some too, my treat."

The material used for her card was the same as others, special black iron. Yet the number of points printed on it was the one that made Sun and Gendis's eyes goggled, flabbergasted.

Gendis pointed at the number tremblingly, "Y-y-you're far richer than me—"

"Me-me!! Princess! Your highness!! Please let me, your slave, purchase all of the things you crave for!!"

Before she could finish, Sun interrupted her by dashing in and kneeling directly beside the bed like an enthusiastic doggie.

Gendis snapped out of the daze and hastily stretched her arm in front of Arawinda to block his sight on the card. She glared at his fascinated face, "Looking at how you easily sell yourself for money, I don't trust you completely!" She turned her head facing Arawinda, and said firmly, "Don't worry! I'll keep my eyes on him!"

Arawinda merely smiled and waved her card, "Who will keep—"

"Me, of course!"

Sun jumped up and skillfully snatched the card from her, rushing out of the room leaving Gendis dumbfounded at his speed.

"This guy!!" Without hesitation, she also ran out to chase after him but still did not forget to close the door.

Arawinda stayed motionlessly for seconds before laying down again, sighed relief at the relaxed atmosphere she got back.

Good thing the card she took was hers, not the one given by her brother, or else their eyes would pop out instead.

She rubbed her forehead helplessly.

Now then, she must think of a way to avoid the possibility of being dragged to the lab!
