Chapter 53: The last arrival of the refugees at the prison
"Have you checked them out?" Even after hearing the explanation, Daryl was still watching the dozen or so men and women with vigilance.
"Basically, they all have their student ID cards. Those who don't have them with them are backed up by others in the same group. I could see two of those young men being dragged off by walkers when we came to their aid, we can at least have that much certainty."
Shane's voice got a little quieter as he said this, and the college students and several girls seemed to have heard what Shane said, so they started sobbing.
"Sorry!", Daryl nodded slightly to a dozen students, but then he heard the comments of a dirty one which made him turn his gaze back.
"Stop crying like you're stupid, because of people like you our escape went wrong." A girl with glasses looked at the crying women as if this was a movie scene.
"Nara, can you save those comments for later? It seems to be true that you don't feel anything for the deaths of others." Said one girl angrily.
"Fuck you Carla, you were dead weight when we ran away from the university." Nara said with a cold expression.
Shane walked up to these students and said, "Okay, okay, listen everyone, I know you are very upset about what you have seen and experienced today, I am also very sorry for the friends you have lost, but you must understand that this place is a big community and I am just a group leader here."
"Now I am still busy with many things in this place, so I can't give you a clear answer about your questions from this place, I also ask you to stop fighting over sentimental differences!"
"What do you really mean, are you going to chase us away from this place?" A muscular boy who took the lead among the students.
"What's your name, young man!" Shane stepped forward and stood in front of the young man. The young man just felt an uncomfortable feeling from the man in front of him, which scared him a little, but then he looked at the dozen people behind him and still stubbornly said without showing weakness, "My name is Bruno Lastra, you can call me Bruno."
Shane didn't speak, he just looked Bruno in the eyes, Bruno also stared at him, the two looked at each other for about ten seconds, Shane suddenly smiled, patted Bruno's shoulder. "Bruno, right? You have a good temperament, you can call me Shane, a meal will be provided for you until the head of this community returns. All you need to do after that is convince our chief or captain to let you stay, are you alright with that?"
"We're fine with that." Bruno reached out to shake Shane's hand, but only smiled and raised his hand to pat Bruno's shoulder.
"Come on! Follow me to your unit and stay quiet, you're still strangers to us!"
"All right, sir!" They all responded unconsciously.
"And one more thing, save that temper for when you face the walkers, got it?" Shane smiled and led the way.
By organizing the students into cells in another district, Shane didn't want these people to know too much about this place, so it's best to wait for Airon to return and let him figure it out.
Shane, who had just left the unit, disappeared from the students' view. The boy who called himself Bruno was glued to the door of the unit. He did not return to the crowd until he heard the sound of the door closing in the distance, whereupon the individuals began to argue in hushed voices.
"Bruno, you were too impulsive just now, what if you piss him off?" Said a beautiful looking blonde girl with some fear.
Before she could respond, a mature looking guy said again, "Celia, you think too much. I don't think these people are bad people. Although the person a moment ago was scary, he should be a soldier or policeman. Didn't you look at those tanks and people with guns?"
"Yes! I think the same as Mario, and there are children among them. I just passed by and saw two children. Come to think of it, one of them is wearing a police officer's cap with a police badge on it!" A girl with glasses also spoke, she looks very calm, not pretty, but she has a strong intellectual atmosphere, her voice is pleasant and her organization is very clear.
"So what do you think about that captain, didn't Shane say that he will wait for his captain to come back and let him make a decision?" Bruno spoke again, and the scene suddenly became silent.
After a while, Nara who was wearing glasses spoke up, "Well, considering things and seeing that you acted like a jerk considering our situation, we must have a reason to be helpful."
"I think we need to think of something that he or his group needs. Mario, your advantage is being familiar with electronic equipment. You can suggest helping the group repair some electronic equipment or even try to come up with smarter things."
Nara looked at everyone and smiled teasingly, her voice seemed disinterested and said, "Well, they have an idea, as for me, I don't want to reveal what I know how to do for the time being. Well, if you're smart you should do that, I'm going to my cell."
The bespectacled girl named Nara, then went straight to the innermost cell to rest.
The rest of the students looked at each other without saying a word and silently found a cell to rest.
In the shadow outside the cell, Daryl stood there silently. After waiting for a while, seeing that the other party stopped talking, he walked silently towards the door. At that moment, Shane was already standing there with a bag of food waiting for him.
After opening the door to receive the food, Daryl no longer hid the sound of his footsteps and walked towards the door of several people's units to deliver the food.
After this, he had a lot of other things to do. He had to share many things with the other people who had just arrived at the prison, everyone should be informed of the changes.

"Shane!"
Shane, who had just delivered the food to Daryl, turned around and saw Lori walking towards him, and quickly asked, "What's wrong, Lori?"
Lori asked anxiously, "Did you just get back to everyone else, where's Rick, is he back?"
Shane shook his head, "Rick and Airon took some people to pick up some supplies."
Lori was disappointed when she heard Shane's words. She was finally looking forward to this day and thought today would be the day she would be reunited with her husband when she arrived with the group at the prison. She was looking forward to telling Rick the news about her pregnancy, but the two of them again drifted further apart.
"What's wrong, Lori?" sensing Lori's frustration, Shane was a little puzzled, he couldn't imagine what happened to make Lori act like this.
"It's nothing, I just want to meet with Rick!" Lori forced a smile and didn't tell Shane the truth, she still wanted to tell her husband the news first!
"You have nothing to worry about, Rick is a very tough guy, besides Airon, that's a very determined and scary person. With him by your side, even if something happens, you can get out safely." Shane said with a reassuring smile.
He was very relieved, after all, Rick was fine and it was only a matter of time before he was back with his family.
Lori just nodded, and at that moment, Carl in the distance ran towards them with a huge hat, followed by a little girl, Sophia.
"Mom, Uncle Shane, this place is awesome, there's a tower with big guns in here, we live in a cell, it's great!"
Carl ran up excitedly. Everything in the prison was new to young Carl, and even living in a cell could thrill him for a while.
"As long as you like it, this will be our home from now on!" Lori smiled and touched her son's head. Although the conditions here are not as good as at the CDC, she is already very satisfied, at least that much she knows that this place is capable of being able to safely have her next baby.
"Beep! Beep!"
People in the plaza and courtyard suddenly heard a loud sound like an air defense siren coming from downtown Atlanta!
Shane grabbed his radio and asked, "What the hell is that sound?"
