Chapter 6: Unexpected
After so many hours, we arrived at the Duke's Place and I quickly go out and shouted " At last, I've finally got out from that carriage!"
"You will be ----- from now on."

Unexpected
After I shouted, they looked at me and some are surprised because of my shout and I just said sorry because I just didn't notice that they were all looking at me. We have entered the look like mansion house, it is really different from the Count's house because these definitely have a higher status of nobles in the Winter. Also, the things around are really expensive because other accessories have gold and diamonds just like their vase is made of gold, then some of them are decorated with diamonds. Maybe, when I sell this the I'm gonna rich hahaha I don't have to work anymore. I look like seeing money that can be a businessman here because if I sell this stuff then I don't need to work as a knight. If you describe my face would be my eyes are like a money sign while looking around.
Lady Miary told me to wait at the tea room and she told the maid to prepare some tea and light snacks because she said we will have dinner, so the maid immediately followed. I, patiently wait for Her Grace to come back because she said earlier. I ask the maid who is serving me if where did Lady Miary did go. The maid said that she was called by the Duke and I didn't ask anymore because I knew she would be scolded because she left without letting the Duke know and she did not come home for a week, as I read in the book.
According to the book, she will be scolded and she will not be able to leave the mansion for a month to reflect on what she did and there is a knight guard under his father. So, Lady Miary walks out of the Duke and the Duke gets angrier with her so he doesn't lift her punishment because of her attitude. Well, the Duke will forgive her if she tells what did she do and where did she go in that seven days. Her Grace did not tell what she do and where did she go, well, she just roams around and explores the outside places of the Winter Empire, where the countryside villages like where I came from.
She fetches me up to go to the dining room and the Duke is waiting for us. I greeted the Duke and he just nodded and told me to seat beside her who is in silence. I feel the awkward atmosphere between them, we started to eat and all you can hear is the sound of the utensils. I can not focus on my food because the Duke is watching me as if he does a scan on me so I feel that I will be having a stomach upset this evening. After the dinner, Lady Miary pulls me with her and we got out of the dining room. Thank goodness that she drags me out from that room with the Duke because I think I can't be there any longer.
"I'm sorry, my fath-- no the Duke stares you while eating. I'll just send some snacks in your room so that you can eat properly." She said and I'm surprised that she knows because she looks like she is busy eating awhile ago.
"Nah, it's okay Lady Miary. I should be the one who awes you for dragging me out." I answered and she just smiled at me. She took me to my room and said that I should rest well. So, I did what she told me because I also need to regain my energy so that I can roam around the city tomorrow.
Lady Miary's Point of View:
After I've escorted Avy to his room, I go to my fath-- the Duke's office.
-knock knock-
"Come in." so I open the door and face my father.
"What?" he said while busy signing the papers and I just stare at him waiting to stop what is he doing. Then, he put down his pen and look at me.
"So, what do you need?" he said to me with his poker face.
"I'll tell you what I did and do in the past days but in one condition," I said and he looks at me seriously. He scans my expression and I sighed.
"Okay, what is it?" he asked. I smiled at his answer and he looks like he was sorry because he agreed.
"Well, I want you to hire Avy for my knight. You want me to have a knight with me, right?" I said that's why he thought.
"Why do you like him to be your knight? Do you even know where did he come from? Is he a noble? I doubt, he is noble." He said.
"One at a time father. Yes, he is not noble. I want him to be my knight because he can protect me even without being a knight. He help me when I was at uncle Lex. He came from the countryside and he is a traveler but I don't think he is just a traveler on how he fights. I think he will be a great knight if he will have proper training." I answered him. He was silently thinking about what I've said. Then, he taps the table and I think I know the answer.
"Okay, I'll grant your condition if -----------------"

I woke up in the morning and I stretched a little when someone is knocking and I said to come in. A maid greeted me and she said that she will prepare a bath before breakfast, according to Lady Miary's order. So, I didn't have a choice to have a bath and the maid ask me if I need help but I refuse and told her to wait outside until I will call for her and she nodded before going out.
I didn't want to take a bath but I haven't taken a bath in two days because I don't want anyone to know my true gender. I went to the bathroom and it is so elegant with a bathtub and the scent of the soap is so nice. I removed my bandages and hop into the bathtub. The water is lukewarm, I wash my hair and my body and after that, I soak in the tub and dip my head.
-knock knock-
"I said, that I don't need help!" I said with an authoritative tone and I quickly grab the towel.
"I'm sorry Avy. I knock on your door awhile ago and waited but you didn't answer so I go in to check you up," she said
"Oh, I thought it was the maid. I'm sorry Lady Miary." I answered so I quickly wiped my body and put bandages on my chest.
"It's okay, take your time, I'll wait for you here," she said and I hear footsteps going away. So, I sighed. That's almost it.
I got out of the bath while drying up my hair, and I saw Lady Miary near the window while drinking tea and looking outside the window. She looks like she's in a deep though. I sat in front of her and she doesn't even look at me. I called her but she really focuses on the outside so I tap her shoulder. She was surprised and nearly freak out.
"I'm sorry Lady Miary, I surprised you," I said while wiping my hair again and she looked at me.
"You said something?" she asks and I can't stop my laugh.
"Hahahaha." I laughed at her and she, in turn, frowned looking at me.
"What? Why are you laughing?" she said so I laughed even more because she was cute when she was teased but she suddenly stood up, so I said I would stop and told her to sit down.
"I'm sorry, Lady Miary. It's just you are so cute who lost in her thoughts. I didn't know you can make that kind of face and it is priceless. I wish I have a cellphone to take a picture of you." I said while stopping myself to laugh again. She just looks at me puzzled.
"Cellphone and picture ?? what's that?" she asked so I stopped and that's when I realized what was said.
"It's nothing. So, let's go eat breakfast." I said and she nodded before we go out. It's a good thing she didn't ask me any more questions. You might say I'm crazy in here but I am not.
While we are going to the dining room, I am preparing myself to face the Duke again with his stares. Then, Lady Miary holds my hand and I was surprised why did she hold me. I think she will gonna do something while I was with her. I tried to remove her hands but her grip is strong and we arrived at the dining. As usual, the Duke is already there so I greeted him and he nodded. So, I was seating beside Lady Miary again while still holding my right hand.
"So, Did he agreed to you?" the Duke asks her, and she looks at me. I feel that she's plotting something but I don't know what it is.
"Yes, he agreed to me last night after we talked," she said while looking at me. Then the Duke also looks at me seriously. I don't remember we talked, yes we talked but there was no answer that I agreed.
"..." I was silent and Lady Miary suddenly squeezed my hand while looking at me and the Duke also like waiting for my agreement.
"You agreed, right Avy." Lady Miary said to me with her smile.
"Ye - sss. Yes, I agreed to her last night." I answered the Duke but it seemed unbelievable that I agreed.
"So, it's settled Miary but you will be still grounded." He said and Lady Miary answered happily. I was lost in thoughts because supposedly he will be mad but I'm seeing differently from the book.
"Don't back out on your words Avy," She whispered so I came back to my thoughts and they were talking to me.
"So, Avy you will be Miary's Knight in a year. You will be trained by my knights but you can guard her while you are in training and she will also help you train since she is a knight herself." The Duke's said and those words are still processing in my head.
"You will be my knight from now on," She said to me while she smiled at me.
"Did I hear it right?" I said while still stunned so the Duke looked at me and suddenly Lady Miary grabbed me by the shoulder tightly.
"You agreed last night Avy when I told you to be my knight first thing in the morning with the Duke. Don't tell me you are not a man of the word?" she said as if crying, so that's why Duke thinks badly of me. Ugh, If I refuse, I might not be able to get out of here alive, if I say I did not agree and I do not know that thing. And if I agree, I will be Lady Miary's knight and locked up here in the mansion.
"Oh. Yes, yes I agreed with you, I just remembered. I was so tired last night when you came so I forgot. I'm sorry." I just answered because I just don't have any choice but to agree while she is grinning widely while acting wiping her tears. Damn, I was tricked again by this girl. If I wasn't just pretending to be a man, I would have said earlier that I am not a man. Well, I can't do anything else because I already have the answer.
"We should talk after this her Grace and explain to me. What is this." I whispered. Then she nodded.
"Miary prepare for his schedule tomorrow since he agreed already to be your knight and I granted him to be your knight so be responsible for him." the Duke said and started to eat.
"Yes, father. Thank you." She said then started eating. So I started to eat too. She will have a word from me later on.
After three years.....
I've become the commander of the Collin's Knight. If you asking if I am still the knight of Lady Collins is yes. The first year of my training is not that hard because I have great skills to be compared to a knight, so they didn't have difficulty training me. Also, the Duke didn't expect me to finish my training in 8 months and Lady Miary didn't stop mocking the Duke that she was right to make me a knight.
