Chapter 11: Heart to Heart Talk and a Step Forward.
When Kenneth woke up the next day, he found that the sneaky tigress had slithered her way onto his bed. Instead of panicking, he simply turned to his side and face her, lifting his hand he moved the hair that had fallen across her face. "She truly is beautiful," he thought. For some reason, the hardworking boxer that got up every morning to do a morning routine did not want to get up today. He simply laid there, staring at the beautiful women next to him, with different thoughts running through his head, he saw and analysed every interaction he had with Nagini. There was nothing he could complain about, only to be thankful for. He wanted to take a chance, he felt like he was a person who was born into the darkness, and the darkness never seemed to want to let him go, he belonged to the it and it alone, however, he craved for the light, so much so that he fought the darkness as much as possible, no matter how badly his life turned out to be. He wanted to take a chance with the equally broken women next of him, she had become a ray of light to him and he wanted to become one for her.
"What are you staring at?" Nagini asked, she had woken up to see Kenneth staring at her, lost in thought.
Kenneth became aware that she had woken up, simply smiled at her and said, "Nothing, just thinking about the things that happened in the past few days and what we should do in the future."
Nagini sleepily smiled at the word "we" and asked, "are you hungry? I'll make breakfast." She tried getting up only to be pulled back down by Kenneth.
"Just stay like this for some time," he said to her.
"What?" Nagini asked shyly after a while, she could not take all the attention she was getting out of the blue.
"I'm curious about you," Kenneth said.
"What are you curious about?" she asked while her eyes sparkled with realization. She thought, "is he was trying to open up?"
"Everything, you of the past, what you went through, what your personality is like, your goals, your dreams, everything," he answered.
Nagini felt emotional as she snuggled into his chest while closing her eyes and hugging his waist, after a moment of silence she started, "It's a long story,"
"We have time," he replied.
"mmm where should I start?" She asked.
"The beginning would be a good place," he said, Nagini started narrating her life story while still in his embrace, how she did not remember much before she was found, her life in the circus, how she thought of them as family while they mocked her and bullied her for what she was, she had once considered Skender as her father, but the more he treated her badly the more she realized that family should not be like so.
She talked about being friends with Credence, about how she finally made a connection with another human being, who was broken just as she was. She cried when she talked about how Grindelwald had tempted Credence and how they separated, the only person she ever cared about at the time.
She spoke about the wizarding war and how hard the battle was, when the war was over, Nagini felt that there was no one she could trust or rely on, so she spent the rest of the years alone. At first, she tried to find a way to lift her curse but even after spending years, there was no solution. She excepted her fate and isolated herself in Albania, until the day she ran into Kenneth.
She talked about how she practiced her new found powers after getting cured, how she planned for Kenneth, how she arrived in London and asked Dumbledore to help her register with the ministry, how she first started working in the Leaky Cauldron as a waitress, then started selling her spatial items to the Gringotts, the wizarding bank and the Wiseacre's Wizarding Equipment.
She talked about how she collected enough money, she started her own shop, got to know Madam Melkins, Alice and other shop owners. She talked about how she would visit Kenneth at least once a week, making sure everything was okay with him, how she prayed and hoped and looked forward to Kenneth waking up. After she ran out of things to say, she took a deep breath and sighed, and she gripped Kenneth tighter and said, "Just don't leave me."
Kenneth heart softened as he stroked the back of Nagini's head, a woman who probably had spent most of her life in loneliness and said, "I won't."
She lifted her head and look at Kenneth in the eye and gave a look that said "I talked, now it's your turn". To which, Kenneth did not even know how to start, he couldn't say he remembered the memories when he was a baby, even if he made an excuse and said because of Voldemort's experiment he retained his memories, that would only mean that Kenneth was 6 years old, how would she feel thought that she married a 6-year-old? He stayed quiet for a while, Nagini was disappointed, she had thought that they had made progress, yet he was still holding back.
She hid her hurt feelings and moved away from him, Kenneth drew her closer to him again and said, "It's a long story."
Nagini's face brightened as she replied with, "We have time,"
Kenneth grinned as he said, "Where should I start?"
"The beginning would be a good place," she giggled, hugging him again and playing along with his words.
Kenneth decided to merge his two lives, he talked about how he was actually a muggle named Jason Webb, an orphan who worked hard to build a life and was robbed of his happiness by the world, then he fabricated how that as he was dying due to the thugs, Voldemort had saved him, only to experiment on him, he did not go into details of the experiment, but he said what Voldemort had said and what he wanted to create, how the painful experiment had continued for and only to be woken up few days ago.
Nagini was startled at how he used to be a muggle and how Voldemort had "created" a wizard with the sacrifice of a multitude of magical blood, human and animal. She got angry at one point and said, "If I ever meet him again, I'll give him a good slap."
"Actually, you should thank him," Kenneth said.
"Why?" She asked.
"It was because of him we met, and you getting cured, the process may have been painful but the outcome is good, isn't it?" Kenneth asked.
"That is true, anyway, let me be the first one to officially welcome you to the magical world Mr. Webb," she giggled.
"Why thank you Mrs. Webb," He replied, then asked, "what's your dream, Nagini?"
Nagini thought for a bit and said, "I don't have anything specific, after I was cured, it was always been to wait for you to wake up but now there is no specific dreams, I like doing business, I like being surrounded by people who cares about me. I-I just want to be happy."
"We all want to be happy, I guess doing business and making money is a good goal, have you thought of expanding and branching out?" asked Kenneth.
"Yea, but I don't think I'm ready for it yet, we need more capital and more people that I can trust to make items for me," she replied.
"I can help you with it," Kenneth volunteered, "I can't just mooch off you for the rest of our lives. Just like you, I also have spatial innate talent, just teach me a little bit and I'll be able to help you out."
"hmm okay," she replied, then Kenneth heard her stomach grumble.
Kenneth chuckled and asked, "hmm, do you like pancakes?"
"You know how to make pancakes?!!!" she asked amazed.
"Looks like we are eating pancake this morning," he got up and got dressed, then said, "stay in bed, I'll call you when its ready."
As though she did not need to hear it twice, Nagini stretched like a cat before curling again to take a nap.
