Chapter 17: Chapter 17: Indecent Proposal

I swallow nervously as Rick stares at me intensely. I talked a big game before, but I’m still unsure of whether I’m ready to take things to the next level with him. My body is shouting a resounding yes, but my mind and my heart are skeptical.

I feel like we are on an even playing field right now, and a self-conscious part of me worries about what he will think of my inexperience with men.

We walk silently the rest of the way, the sexual tension between us hanging in the air like a thick raincloud. As we near the house, my heart rate increases because I know he will want an answer.

“Why don’t we talk privately?” he asks as we walk through the front door. I nod incoherently because words are beyond me at this point. He leads me upstairs to my bedroom and ushers me in, following closely behind and shutting the door. His nearness raises my anxiety level to an uncomfortable high and I begin to pace the room.
