Chapter 9: Aren Torle

"Aren." The white hair man sitting in the throne called him.

"Yes, majesty." The young man crouched before the aisle, his black hair glistened against the fire torch.

"Take these flasks, one for the blood-disguised, the other one for the finding. He's probably in Abyssia right now. Seek what he's up to and who he rallies with before he can notice your identity." The king ordered.

"Should I know who is he, majesty?" A risky inquiry.

"No, it will make thing worse, do what I said." Illuke said before waiving his hand to dismiss him.

———

Later that day, he did what he had been ordered without any rejection, sneaked into Abyssia, used the flasks, hunted the target.

Then when he had returned, before he could report what he had found, which was nothing to be reported actually, the king just handed him another dangerous mission.

Great.

But to slay a queen, Fae queen to be exact, this mission was utterly insane unless his king wanted a genuine war.

Since the king had exiled lord Vladimir, Aren knew something was wrong with Illuke, like someone was manipulating him behind the throne, and he seemed to be so paled, deadly paled.

He wiped those thoughts as he mounted the dragon and commanded them through his blood, heading to Feleyn.

———

Everything had gone well until he held his dagger behind the queen. His hands trembled crazily at the choice that he had to make, killed her and the war erupted, or ran and hid from his king like a rat. The former seemed better since he knew what his king was capable of.

But before he could do anything, he heard someone shouted from behind and what happened next, he was not sure what happened after that.

And somehow in his shitty life, he had found lord Vladimir, rumors claimed that he had been killed or eaten by wyverns, tears slid down his cheeks, this was the only solution to end this mess, he realized.

"What happened?" Vladimir demanded and Aren knew the question was not for him, about why he wept.

He inhaled a large amount of air and tried to settle down, still trembling. Then he told him about what had happened. Everything.
