Chapter 6: Corruption
Damien heads out to explore, "Damn, tomorrow the semester starts. I wonder what it'll be lik- Oh that looks like the girls!"
Damien runs up to the girls but as soon as he gets there his mouth drops open. Emmy's face is all bandaged up, it seems she's been attacked.
The girls realize Damien, Lauren is the first to speak up, "Hey what brings you here?" Damien shakes his head, "Oh, I was just killin time today. Might do some training in the afternoon, been slacking a bit..." Damien rolls his shoulders back and continues, "what about you, girls, what's up?"
The girls look around at each other, "Well we just came to get some drinks and gossip you know girl stuff." Lauren speaks up. Damien laughs "Well, ladies, I'll let you do your thing."
As he starts to head out, he hears Emmy speak up, "Wait, you can hang out if you want." Damien turns around with a big smile on his face, "It'll be my pleasure."
He sits down and enjoys the company of the girls, as they talk about the most random events ever, from clothes shopping to fingernail painting to what's the best way to hurt a guy. The last one made Damien cringe a bit from how detailed and thorough they were.
As they are sitting there talking, coming out of the store is Tyler with another man looking around the same age with short blonde hair and crystal blue eyes. They both spot the girls and Damien and approach them.
"Well, well, well, look at this the whore with her little posse." As Tyler said that you see Emmy hide her face and the other girls began telling Tyler to go away.
"Leave us alone, Tyler, Spencer!" Lauren shouts at them, and Ariel starts to get up and then proceeds to tell them "Fuck off, you are not welcomed here, asshole. After what you did, you're lucky we don't beat your ass!"
Knowing how Ariel is, Damien just shakes his head, but he is interested in why the girls are so aggressive toward the boys that just showed up. "Hey, Jessica, what's with the hostility right now?"
"Well, it's not my place to say but they were really mean to Emmy." Damien nods his head and stands up.
"I think it's time for you two to leave. You ain't welcomed here." Damien steps up to Tyler and Spencer.
They laugh at Damien, and Tyler steps up to him, "Or what?" He turns to face Spencer not caring about being in front of Damien. "Look at this bitch, trying to act tough in front of our women. HA" Spencer and Tyler both started laughing.
Jessica goes over to comfort Emmy while Lauren and Ariel stand there watching as Damien stands his ground, "I won't ask you again, the ladies do not want you here. Now, please leave."
Tyler turns back to him, "Are you fucking stupid, get the fuck outta the way. We ain't got no business wit yo ass." And Tyler shoves Damien. Damien falls onto the ground, and before he can get up Tyler puts his foot on Damien's neck.
"Now stay down, like the bitch dog you are!" The girls all gasp as they see Tyler standing over Damien.
"Let him go!" Ariel shouts at Tyler. Tyler steps even harder on Damien neck, and Damien looks up at him in pain as Tyler just keeps increasing the pressure. "Ge-Ge-Get off of me!" Damien manages to scream out.
Ariel comes running over and tries pushing Tyler off Damien, but Spencer grabs her by the arms and slams her onto the table. "Calm down bitch, no need to get feisty, leave that for the bedroom."
He leans down and gives her a kiss on the cheek. Lauren gets up to try get Spencer off Ariel, but he puts his hand up, his eyes start to glow, and Lauren stops. "Now, now what do you think you're doing, hm?"
Spencer starts laughing, "Look at these spineless fools! No one dares act against us, Ha! Tyler snaps the fuckers neck." Tyler gives him a nod and begins to apply even more pressure, but Damien activates his magic, and throws Tyler off his neck, sending him flying into another table adjacent to them.
"I fucking told you to leave the girls and me alone!" Damien screams out as he charges toward Spencer. Spencer releases Ariel and sticks his other hand up in the air and his eyes begin to glow as he tries to stop Damien.
Damien is too fast for Spencer; he closes the distance and WHAM! Hits Spencer in the face with his fist, sending Spencer onto his ass.
Tyler gets up and charges after Damien, tackling Damien but Damien doesn't move and just starts dropping hammer fists onto Tyler's back. Tyler yells out in pain as he drops to his knees, once down there Damien feeds Tyler a knee to the mouth, sending him where Spencer is.
Damien stands over the two, "Now, leave." Spencer and Tyler get on their feet and give Damien a scornful look. "We will remember this..."
Once they are out of sight Damien drops to his knee in pain. "Damn, those guys are crazy." He looks up at the girls, "Are you all okay?"
They all nod.
"Damien are you okay. I have never seen someone throw Tyler around like that before. And never mind your speed!" Ariel was shocked to see Damien in action for the first time. "Yeah, I'm gonna be fine. My neck's going to be sore, but I'll live."
Damien gets up to his feet and a person walks up to them, seems to be a middle-aged man, "Um, excuse me, but I'm going to have to ask for you people to vacant the area." Damien turns around and as he is about to yell at the man for not interfering but Jessica grabs his arm and starts to pull him away.
"Come on, let's just get out of here. I don't want to stay here anymore." Damien doesn't resist and just follows the girls as they all leave.
"So, mind telling me what that was all about?" Damien says in an inquisitive tone.
Before anyone could speak up, Emmy turns toward Damien and points to the wounds on her face. "Tyler did this to me, all because I wouldn't do what he wanted! He causes me so much anger and frustration! He hurt my friends, he hurt you!" Emmy starts bawling her eyes out, she is about to collapse but Damien catches her right before she hits the ground.
"Shhh." He starts stroking her back and holds her tight as she continues to cry into Damien's chest. A few minutes pass before Emmy can calm down, it seems she has fallen asleep.
Damien looks at the girls and gives a small chuckle, "Well, ladies, let's bring her home." Emmy resting on his chest as Damien picks her up and carries her to her house.
He whispers, "Home sweet home." Ariel unlocks the door "well actually this is my home but she's staying here for the foreseeable future." Damien nods and brings Emmy to her bedroom, he attempts to lay her down but as he starts Emmy latches on tight and mumbles, "no-no not yet."
Damien chuckles and then returns to the girls with Emmy nuzzling into Damien even more. All the girls giggle "Doesn't seem she wants to let go." Ariel whispers. "I guess not." Damien laughs.
The girls look at him with a serious tone, "Thank you Damien, for today and all." Jessica says.
"Yeah, I don't even want to think about what would have happened had you not been there." Lauren says in a relieving tone.
"Yeah, and you totally kicked some ass too!" Ariel says as she slaps you on the shoulder.
"Hey easy now missy, don't wanna wake the princess." They all laugh.
"You're welcome girls. But I gotta say this town is pretty messed up. Guys harass and physically assault people in the open and nothing happens, no one tries to say anything."
The girls nod as Ariel speaks up, "Yeah, that's cause of who those two are."
Damien gives Ariel a puzzled look before she continues, "Those two pretty much own the city, or at least act like it. Spencer's parents are on the city council, and his grandparents started the magic division at Genesis Academy. So, he holds a lot of words when it comes to certain policies and shit like that. Then there's his best friend Tyler, whose parents own half the night life in Hopes city. So, their pockets run deep."
Damien twitches his head a little and says "hm, living off of mommy and daddy success."
The girls give him a nod, and Damien lets out a sigh. "Well, that doesn't excuse them for their behavior."
Lauren speaks up, "That just goes to show you how corrupt this place really is, they can abuse whomever they want because no one wants to disappear." As she says disappear, she draws an imaginary line across her neck.
"Alright, I get it, but still, this is crazy. How can we protect ourselves from this?" Damien says.
The girls just stare at the floor, "W-we can't look at what happened to Em-emmy, we didn't even try to file a report be-because the fu-fucking police don't do jack shit." Ariel says while choking up.
Jessica walks over to Damien and gives him a big hug, "Damien, please be careful from now on. We have no idea what they will try next." Damien places one hand under Emmy's butt to support her and another hand on top of Jessica's head, "I'll keep a sharp eye out."
He starts to hear a little snoring on his left side, "Oh, seems the princess has fallen asleep at once. Let's lay her down." Damien goes to put Emmy down, but she doesn't let go. Ariel gives him a pat on the back, "Looks like you're sleeping here tonight."
He gives her a smile and just goes back to the couch to sit down and get some rest. Ariel and Lauren go to their respective rooms in the apartment, and Jessica grabs a blanket for Damien.
"Good night, Damien, Emmy, see you guys in the morning." She leans over and gives Damien a kiss on the cheek and runs off to her room. Damien immediately falls asleep.
Damien is the first to wake up as he feels Emmy stirring, he looks down just as Emmy opens her eyes and they stare at each other.
Emmy immediately turns beet red and jumps up "U-U-Um- I- Goo-Good M-Morn-Morning." She runs out of the room.
Damien chuckles softly and tries to get up but feels a sharp pain in his lower back and butt. "Damn it, sleeping upright and on a couch all night was rough." He grits his teeth, "But gotta pull through!" He stands up with a lot of effort and starts cracking his back and stretching.
Ariel comes out of her room, "Well that was an interesting morning. How'd you sleep?"
Damien turns and gives her a thumbs up. "Could be better" he laughs.
They go to the kitchen to get some drinks. Looking at the clock he has about an hour to get ready for the first day. "Damn, I gotta get back to my room and change! Thanks for letting me stay and tell Emmy and the other that I'll see ya'll later!"
To Damien surprise, Ariel walks up to Damien just before he walks out the door and gives him a quick kiss on the lips, "Thanks again, Damien, see you at school." She closes the door, leaving him dumb found outside. Damien shakes his head and starts running back to his dorm to get ready for his first day at college!
