Chapter 233: Brianna

Five hours passed since the witches went to bed. Father was to retire to his room. Yet, he took a detour down to the basement. Excitement kicked my heart into overdrive. Anxiety blended itself with it when Father paused outside the foot leading to the trapped room. He has not moved in two hours. He leaned against the shelf, observing the door.

When I thought he was not going to venture any further, he sighed and pulled the door. All the excitement from before returned. Kyle rubbed my thigh, trying to calm me down. But, there was no helping that emotion. I needed to know what Father would say to Mother. I needed to witness her reaction, their reactions to the situation, and each other.

When Father neared the trap door, a voice stopped him.

"It's sealed. The door, I mean. I sealed it." The voice belonged to Sarah. I was not sure how she got here or if she had been watching him like me.
