Chapter 13: MATE
MATE
She was quiet the whole time, observing. The mysterious man came earlier to her room, disturbing their unexplainable scene.
"I did not know that you're getting married if Yupe hadn't told me," the man said, smirking.
Prince Elon looks at her; he looks bored and wants to get rid of this nosy, handsome man.
"It's not my responsibility to tell you everything." Prince Elon stared at her, slowly reaching her hips so he could hold her.
She knows that the man noticed how Prince Elon snaked his hand into her hips; he smirked and gave her a look.
"I'm Frig; I'm his cousin." Frig presented his palm before she accepted it. Prince Elon immediately taps Frig's palm.
"She's Blaire; you may leave now."
"Woah! Too possessive. I didn't know that you could be like that!" Frig jokingly said.
Prince Elon gave him a sharp look, so Frig raised his hand, laughing.
"But how about Julianna?" She didn't know who Julianna was or what her connection to these two was to just pop up in a conversation.
"What about her?" she felt how secured Elon was to her hips, like he didn't want her to go away.
"She still doesn't know that you're getting married; I'm sure she's not getting the vibes you want her to feel." Frig's voice became serious, making her think that Julianna is somehow important.
"I'm not giving her any vibe, Frig. She doesn't have to know I'm getting married." They talk like she's not present; she's clueless and just like a missing puppy in the center of the crowd.
"She'll be very disappointed." She suddenly saw how Frig scanned her from toe to head.
"Excuse me?" she said, raising her eyebrows as she looked at Frig with her serious look.
"Don't you look at me like that? I don't know who Julianna is, but she's no match for me." She removed Elon's hand from her hips and immediately turned her back at them.
She is annoyed; they talked like she's not there, and she can't hear a thing. What is she? A vase? A display that they didn't even notice? Then they just throw a look like they're judging her entire life?
If she will just receive this kind of look from people she doesn't know, she would like to turn their eyes into a ball!
She walked through the hallway; she didn't even know where she was headed. The important thing is that she needs to stay away from them for a moment; she needs to breathe.
She found herself walking down to the garden; she didn't see much since the light was dim, but she felt the cold, breezing whisper of the wind.
When she finally reached the garden, she immediately sat on the grass. It felt like dawn.
She hugged her knees; she buried her face in her knees, wanting to release the annoyance she felt.
"How could he look at me with a judging look without even knowing me?" she let her voice come out.
"Stupid him!"
If he only looked at her that way because she's not a vampire, then he sucked! If they are not vampires, they are nothing compared to her.
She's smart, talented, and beautiful! She can do anything. How about them!? They just feel powerful because they are vampires; they have unbelievable strength!
"Can I take you water?" She almost felt her heart jump from its cage when someone talked.
She looks to see where the voice is coming from, and it's a girl with long hair. She's pale like other vampires, but she's pretty.
"Hi, can I sit with you?" she slowly nodded, making her heart calm down.
"So you met Prince Frig?" she asked again.
"Is he always like that?" she asked, still annoyed.
"This is the first time. Since it's the first time Prince Elon wanted to marry someone," her eyebrows raised, so was Prince Elon really telling her the truth that she's the first?
"Who's Julianna?" she curiously asked.
"Oh! She's Prince Elon's mate!" She frowned when the girl answered so happy; it looks like she's excited about Julianna and Prince Elon's 'love story'
"If she is Elon's mate, why is he marrying me and not Julianna?" She couldn't hide the bitterness in her voice.
"I didn't know the exact reason, but there's a story I heard that Julianna once betrayed Prince Elon. They looked so perfect together, then suddenly everything changed."
She was drowning in deep thought about how it's possible that a vampire can marry a human while his mate is still alive. Is that possible?
"By the way, I'm Milan. I'm the new generation vampire; I'm just 18!" she said, still in her deep thoughts.
"U-uh, I'm Blaire."
"I know you; everyone knows you in this kingdom! You're our future queen, and I am glad that I was able to talk to you!"
"I am human." Milan smirked and gave her an assurance look.
"We also know that you're human, and we think that you're nice!"
The night is deep, but she can't sleep; she overthinks a lot of things that she shouldn't be worrying about.
"Still awake, huh?" A cold, husky voice suddenly spoke behind her ears, and she immediately threw a fist at whoever it was.
"Easy, it's me..." Prince Elon gave her a quick hug.
"What are you doing here?"
"I let you go earlier, so I'm here now because I gave you enough time." She raised her eyebrows, ready to make a battle with him.
"So what if–"
"I'm sorry about Frig. He's stupid," Prince Elon said, straight to the point.
"H-huh?"
"He thinks a lot about Julianna; he's always been favoring her."
"It's valid; Julianna is your mate after all." Elon looked at her with shock but immediately got where she's coming from.
"She was." So she was his mate?
"A vampire's rule should not be broken or it may cause something big. Julianna is a white vampire, a half human... " she was shocked for a moment, "but she betrayed the kingdom to become a full-blooded vampire."
