Chapter 8: Mila's pov.
Something is wrong. I know I don't have a soul anymore but,
Just Something is horribly wrong.
That very night of my waking,
I found myself holding on to the Necklace that Edith gave me.
Is my mother in trouble? There is no time to waste, I need to go check.
Using my new fond speed and was at my old house in minutes.
I saw my mother smiling as she shook hands with the same people I saw before.
Relief washed over me in waves at that but the uneasy feeling got worse.
My feet dragged me to an abandoned building and I saw 6 black SUVs parked there.
Why was I hear but I didn't have to go inside I just closed my eyes and listened.
"Edith Rosalyn Crystal, just tell me where the stone of the universe is and I'll let you and the triplets go."
Said an old woman in an amused toned.
"I have nothing left to live for just kill me."
Said Edith sounding broken and hopeless.
I should be happy right? This is what I wanted right?
But why do I feel so much pain watching Edith in trouble.
Wait a minute! Heart beats? These are humans?
Wow the irony. I need to see what's happening I'll use the roof.
I need to be careful, something is very wrong here.
Climbing up the roof with heavy emotions.
Once at the top I could see everything.
"You are forcing my hand Edith, maybe this will get you to talk."
Said the old woman carrying a lime glowing big injection that bubbled through the glass.
What the hell is that? But I won't find out like this.
I counted the armed people and made my move.
Jumping down on the is woman I snatched her injection,
Injecting her with her weird green injection.
She was out cold. I smirked before speeding off.
The bullets flew but I was like too fast.
Out the door and back on the roof.
Riley broke out but a guns were instantly pointing at her face.
Resa broke the chains but remained calm.
Reeve released a cloud like smoke but nothing happened.
Than I noticed that the armed people seem to be frozen in time.
"Nice work Reeve, let's get out of here.
Mila if you hear me, thank you.
Thanks for helping us despite everything."
Said Resa smiling searching the roof to figure out where I am.
"Give us a chance to make things right."
Said Riley pleading but I wasn't interested in trusting them.
Edith was looking down with tears flowing from her eyes.
Than she looked up at where I was, wiping her tears.
"Can I see you Mila, even if it's just one time."
Asked Edith but I ignored her and jumped off the roof and ran off.
Once I was back at Lytton's Den, I checked around to see if I had been followed.
Relief washed over me that Edith was safe but I hated myself.
I knew than that I can't kill Edith and that broke me.
My eyes stung as I walked in Prof. Lytton looked at me askew.
"What's wrong Mila? What happened?"
Asked Prof. Lytton approaching and peered at my face.
"Nothing." I lied to which Dadic laughed.
"You are lying!" Said Dadic in a cheerful voice.
"It's none of your business!"
I shouted and the walls vibrated and dust fell.
"Keep your secrets cousin."
Said Dadic in a sing song voice.
That's it, I don't need any of this right now.
"Where are you going?"
Asked Prof. Lytton nervously as I was about to leave the door.
"To speak with Edith and hear her out.
Thank you for everything you have done for me.
But I have to go and see if I can't salvage what's left of our-"
I tried to explain but was stopped cut off by Prof. Lytton.
"Shut up! I knew I would regret saving you.
I should of left you there to die!"
Shouted Prof.Lytton showing her true colors.
"I knew you didn't save me because we are related.
But I still hoped that if I didn't want to pursue revenge that you'll understand."
I said calmly baiting her to tell me why she needs me.
"Go to Edith, You've chosen your side.hp
But from this moment onwards you on your own.
I tried to help my sister out and look after you.
You are royal to my enemies.
Dadic go pack your things, it's no longer safe to be here."
Said Prof. Lytton sounding disappointed in me.
I didn't care, we aren't that close for her words to effect me.
After she threatened me while I was human, I decided to keep her at arms length.
"Mila, you are making a huge mistake.
I had a vision where you returned to Edith and she killed you.
She will do anything for her daughters!"
Said Dadic but I knew she was lying to get me to stay.
"You are the one whose now lying " I said glaring at her.
Just because she has the ability of sight doesn't give her the right to use it against me.
I walked out the house and ran to a river.
(The next morning)
I expected the sun to turn me into ashes but thank God those movies are all fake.
Sure I feel abit drained but I'm not catching fire.
Now I have alot of questions like will I never eat garlic bread again?
Does Holy water have an acidic effect on me?
Too lost in my thought I didn't notice someone approaching.
I immediately jumped up ready to protect myself.
I saw two duffel bags and a note attached to it.

Mila
You have given me a reason to survive.
After your death, I think I died the same time you did.
I can't change the past but I can try my best to gain your trust.
Inside the two duffel bag is money, a passport, a burner phone to call me.
As much as I want another chance, I know you need space.
Here's a local under the Crystals protection.
I'm really sorry for being the worst mate ever.
I know I don't deserve your love and I didn't deserve being saved.
I promise to protect you with my life this time.
The choice between you and my daughter was obvious.
It's you. If they want a mother than they will support my love for you.

My eyes were ever flowing with tears.
I had successfully gotten rid of the memories of Edith as me.
Some how they surfaced and I remembered how we met.
Our kiss and our almost intimate moments.
I suddenly know where I needed to be.
I took the burner phone and dial the number.
Prof. Lytton wanted to use me as a weapon to take down her enemies.
She obviously doesn't care about me at all.
Edith gave me the resources to disappear and settle down in a peaceful country.
Nowhere in the letter did she insult me.
The phone rang abit before it was answered.
[ The phone call between Edith and Mila]
Mila: HI....
Edith: Mila? Is everything okay?
Mila: Yes, what about you?
Edith: After draining out the toxins that were injections, I'm slowly regaining my strength.
Mila: I'm glad you are better. Send Resa to fetch me.
Edith: I asked to triplets to go live with their father.
I'll come there myself.
Mila: Okay hurry, I'm not sure I wasn't followed.
(Mila ended the call)
I knew that I made the right decision and I felt happy about it.
If this blows up in my face, I can have no regrets in my heart.
10mins later a black Bugatti pulled off and parked under the tree next to me.
I remained sitting against the tree and looked at the river.
I thought I'll never be able to smile again but I was proven wrong.
When Edith took her rightful next to me, sitting next to me.
We sat in silence and I reached out and held her hands.
Edith lifted my hand using hers to kiss the back of my hand.
"I promise to look after you Mila. I want to get to know you.
I know it took alot to forgive me and I won't take that for granted."
Said Edith with heart eyes as who gazed over me with affection.
"Time will tell Edith, please don't betray me again.
I'm no longer human,me forgiving you for the second time won't be possible
I hope that this doesn't turn into a life lesson."
I said in honesty. I already burned the bridges with my family.
"You have every right to be wary and thank you for opening your heart to me again."
Said Edith and got closer to me looking at my lips.
Maybe it was too soon to kiss her but I knew better than anyone how short life is.
I leaned in and we kissed. Right after I got into the passenger seat of the Bugatti.
While Edith loaded the duffel bags into the car.
She drove off with happiness shining in her eyes.
