Chapter 11: The Journey to the Human Realm

20th century

Immediately, Queen Mira teleported the Vampire Queen, the witcher and his family to the human realm, the Guardian had sent for the Vampire lord. He had speed up their departure to avoid the lord from seeing his Queen or the witcher. The Guardian lord watched closely as he heard the Vampire lord's heart beat rapidly. Although he seems calm and collected, he reeked of fear and anger.

He was angry for many reasons; one being that he was never informed from the very beginning that his Queen would leave to the human realm, two being she left with the witcher and his family and lastly, he had to hear one and two from the skimming Guardian.

'With the witcher gone, how was he going to get answers to his questions.' His face became red at the thought. Samurai was certain that the Vampire lord was jealous not because of the severing bond but actually jealous that the Queen carried the king Alpha's child and left without him.

'That lucky bastard escaped death's claws. Damn how could they have left without his knowledge?' he asked himself inwardly.

The Guardian smirked at the displeased lord as if he could read his thoughts. Which he could. It was a hidden gift of his which he often rarely used because he believed everyone was entitled to their privacy except when he's interrogating people. Every council member had a hidden gift which they hardly use. He was aware of the Vampire Queen's gift which was her seeing people's past actions through their blood.

Mira's hidden gift was the third eye, like the Oracle she could see what no supernatural or human eye could see which was seeing Demons. Demons are death beings that no one could see except powerful beings or unless they have a host or wanted to be seen. He never did figure out what Nikolai or Yuri's hidden gift was.

"But how could she have left in her condition and without her lord by her side?" the Vampire lord nose flared.

Samurai's brow rose, "what do you mean by her condition?" He pursed his lips.

The Vampire heart panicked, his pupils racing in its socket, " I-I mean she is still recuperating from her weak state." His voice came out strained.

"I see. I didn't know that a moment of weakness has now become a permanent condition. You should know your place is here in this world taking care of her people alongside us." He glared at him coldly.

"But it would have been best if I had gone with her." He retorted.

"It wasn't a vacation vampire! It was a mission. Yuri and his army have infiltrated the human realm which you are already aware of and now he has allied himself with the Demons. We need someone who can keep an eye on things there." The Guardian said sharply.

The stubborn Vampire push his chair back and stood up, "but why the Queen! Anyone could have been sent in her place instead and she left along with a witcher who doesn't even know how to defend himself from rebels." He growled

"Are you questioning my authority?" He asked, turning to the vampire's standing gaze, "you doubt my judgement yet here you stood before me like a jealous lover! Your tantrums are that of a human child. I haven't forgotten your treachery against the crown." Samurai snapped from his calm demeanor.

The Vampire lord gulped down on an empty throat. 'How did he know?' He nearly asked out loud.

"You looked surprised? I know that it was no rebels that attacked the witcher, it was you. And no he didn't have the guts to say it. I may not see everything like the Oracle but I do know everything that happens in each of the five regions." With that said, he left the trembling Vampire lord standing.

"Damn that worthless witcher for rating him out. Now I have to watch out for that pesky Guardian." He muttered to the close door.

It's been 12hours since Mira, Lillian, the witcher and his family left for the human realm which was 3days there and the Guardian was beginning to get worried since Mira hasn't return yet. The Vampire lord has now added to his list of worries. He needed to keep an eye on him before he brings more trouble to the Vampire region. For the lord's jealousy could be either the region's destruction or his. Samurai signed, the upcoming days were going to stressful in the Vampire Queen's absence.

"Samurai!" Nikolai called out before entering.

Samurai turned to see the King Alpha walking in. "I've been looking everywhere for you. If I had known you would be here in the witches coven I wouldn't have gone to the mountains." The king grunts walking further in the room. Dragon were large being, their region was up on the mountains whiles the four regions were below.

"Why didn't you mind link me?" Samurai said amused, watching the King Alpha pull out a chair.

"I couldn't, my wolf and demon are at it again." He sighed, placing both feet on the table.

"Why are they fighting? Is it because of Lilian's absence? It was the best decision we could have come up with." Samurai said.

"You made that decision and I had no choice but to abide by it. Although I believe we could have just left her here after all a spell was cast to hide her pregnancy." He spoke sadly like a wounded lover.

He turned his gaze to the King, "the people aren't stupid. Once the Bond begins to break they would feel fear and then jealousy would set in or have you forgotten!"

"If she's far away in different realm they won't feel it." The Guardian added.

"I know but have you thought about when the child is born, it would still be the same thing when she returns with or without the child. Her people would no longer feel her presence, comfort or love because the bond would have been broken by then. Prolonging the inevitable only makes it worse. When that happens the people would turn against her." Nikolai spoke sharply.

"I have already thought about it. I would have Mira try to restore the bond between Lilian and the Vampires." Samurai massaged his temples with his hand.

"Is that even possible? Samurai do you even know what is at stake here?" Nikolai questioned him.

"Of course I know what is at stake here. I know things could go wrong and turn ugly for good." He yelled back.

"No!" Nikolai shook his head, "bonds are not to be messed with. It could leave behind serious consequences. Have you thought about the child?" He watched him with intensive gaze and Samurai nodded tiredly.

"I don't think you understand the whole bond thing. If Mira is able to restore the bond which I doubt is possible what about the child? If the child is in danger how would his mother know?" He asked.

Frowning at his silence, "Samurai!" He called out waiting for an answer.

"Enough Nikolai!" He snapped, "if you had kept it in your pants, I wouldn't have to worry about the mess you created." Nikolai was about to go further but closed his mouth at Samurai's outburst. He knew he was right but how was he to know it was even possible for Lilian to get pregnant. For years they had slept around without having worrying about childbirth because they knew they weren't fertile, at least that was what they all thought.

Samurai watched Nikolai get lost in thought and with a sad demeanor. He quickly regretted his harsh outburst at his friend. It wasn't like it was Nikolai's fault that Lillian got pregnant. It could have been him in Nikolai's shoes when he use to have numerous women for his harem. "Nikolai!" he pressed his shoulder, "listen I know I went too far. It's not your fault that fate had other plans. I apologise for snapping at you." His tone held remorse.

The king Alpha shook his head in denial, "no you are right. If I had kept in my pants all this wouldn't have happened." He stood up and left, leaving Samurai feeling guiltier.

Samurai scolded himself more when Nikolai left. He went too far this time but with the rate at which Nikolai went on pressing the issue he was bound to snapped at him. He sighed with frustration. Mira not returning from the human realm was the cause of his frustration. He had missed her terribly yet he mocked Nikolai. He understood how he felt when Lillian left and his wolf and Demon weren't making it easy for him.

Nikolai's demon and wolf were constantly bickering each other. The wolf was familiar with Lilian but the demon was another issue. It often mocked Nikolai and his wolf for being weak because of a Female Vampire. Maybe it was because he never acknowledged the fact that he was a half Demon and that was the reason him and his wolf never got along with his demon.

It has been four miserable days in the Human realm. The temperature here was unbearable. None of the Vampires could go out because of the yellow sun. In their realm they had the red moon which wasn't harmful to their health but everything was different in the human realm.

Mira couldn't leave as the Vampires hadn't fully adapted to their new environment. Mira wasn't finding it easy either due to the heatwave but at least her pale skin wasn't burnt like Lillian and the rest. It was a bad idea to bring Lilian here to the human realm. If they were worried about her dying in their realm then they were wrong. If Lillian should die, it would be living in the human realm. Mira sat beside Lillian rubbing her back in circles, as she watched her friend throw up all the blood in her system into a bowl.

"Even the blood here taste different!" She complained as she throws up more.

Lillian wasn't the only one throwing up, the witcher and his family did too. The witcher and his family were supposed to take care of Lillian but they were also home sick and Mira had to take that responsibility. If she had known she would have kept this long in the human realm, she would have also spoken to her people that she wouldn't just send Lillian to the human realm but also spend few days there. It wasn't easy taking turns with five Vampires.

The witcher had two young vampires and they were the difficult ones to take care of. They were growing weak by the second and Mira began to worry if they would survive the human realm.

It's been centuries since she last visited the human realm and now it seems there were transcending into a new era of weapons and machinery although they still relied heavily on the black slaves. The white people of this realm had the dark skinned ones as slaves. Cooking, cleaning their homes and taking care of their children were the duties of the first class slave.

They had no chains around their necks and were fully clothed. The second class slaves were known as pets, they were chained by their necks and wore nothing while other masters were lenient enough to clothe them in skimpy dresses that only covered their private parts. Pets were for their masters sexual amusement and Mira did find it fascinating. She wanted to get one for herself but doubt she could send it back home.

The third class of slaves were known as the labourers. They worked on farms and plantations of the white coloured race. They are chained by their feet. They were often lashed and hanged to death when they reach old age and were not energetic and useful to their masters. They were fed once a day yet worked under the burning yellow sun from dawn to dusk. The sight of how the dark skinned race were subjected to inhuman and savage treatment brought tears to her eyes. She was able to learn all this in one day. If not for her playing the role of the witcher would have explored all the continents of the human realm but her time was limited and had to go back to her people.

The little education of the human realm they got from Samurai was helpful in terms of their environment and climate but the ways of the human were very different from what Samurai had told them. It seems the information the Guardian got about the human realm was outdated.

The time difference was calculated wrongly on Samurai's part. There were supposed to have gotten to the human realm during nightfall but they got there during noon when the yellow sun was at its peak scorching hot nearly burning the Vampires alive if weren't for the nearest human cottage they had seek shelter in. Getting blood for vampires was another exhausting hassle for Mira. The Vampires were too weak to go hunting at night.

Mira smiled at last night memory. Who in their realm would believe that Mira had become a petty thief? She had use her invisibility power to go steal blood bags from first aid camps. A smile appeared on her lips when she remembered how the nurses had fought each other over the missing blood bags. Although humans speak strange language which she wasn't able to understand, she was good at reading their body language. The blood bags wasn't fresh and tasted differently maybe that was why their stomach wasn't able to digest it.

Their burnt skin haven't healed because their bodies lacked blood but Mira was able to smoothen the pain with magic. She watch from the throwing up Queen to the weak and frail witcher and his wife and finally to the young vampire who laid lifeless in bed although their hearts still beats. She felt pity for all of them. She wondered if they would be able to cope in her absence because she was beginning to feel home sick herself and wanted to go home soon.
