Chapter 2: The Transparent Screen
Hedry was a vampire. Insanely captivating, unbelievably handsome vampire. His distinctive pitch-black hair with a tinge of glittering-silver here and there adds a charm of mysteriousness to his identity.
Today, on August 18th 2020 of the Night Calendar, Hedry turned 20.
And you what happens when a vampire turns 20?
They reach adulthood!
Adulthood! For vampires, adulthood was synonymous to freedom! And Hedry was a free vamp from today.
Now he could run out of the vamp kingdoms and enter the human kingdoms, and finally start oppressing the weak humans!
As a free vamp, when Hedry reached the border that separated his vamp kingdom from the humans, he discarded all of his belongings and lit them on fire.
"What the kingdom gave me, I shall return it to their ground!" Staring at his belongings that were burning bright blue, he nodded satisfactorily.
He hesitated for a moment, but finally, he removed his clothes and threw them into the fire. This pair of clothes were special and were given to him by his aunt, Arkne, so he a little reluctant to part with them. But, his desire to suppress humans and rid himself of the vampire influence won him over at last.
Taking the step that meant he was no longer in the vampire kingdom, Hedry crossed the border. Coincidentally, as he stepped over, a stream of cold air that could freeze one's soul assaulted his handsome face.
As he felt the sensation of chill for the first time in his life, Hedry laughed while shivering.
"Is this what freedom feels like!"
"Hyah! Let's go suppress some ants!" Putting his hands behind his back, Hedry bore the chilling wind and walked deeper into the human kingdom.
Twenty minutes later, his stomach rumbled in protest. He had forgotten to eat his lunch, too excited at the thought of freedom.
Who could he blame for this? He could only try to improvise his situation before he came across humans, lest they look down upon him because of his hunger.
Luckily, he saw some wild plants that grew purple fruits on his right side. With this, he could curb his hunger for a while.
He walked right up and plucked the purple fruit with his hands. Then....then he downed the fruit into his throat without chewing it.
Suddenly, a transparent screen appeared in Hedry's vision.

"What the.....?!" Hedry mind shuddered at the sudden appearance of a transparent screen before his eyes. He had never seen something like it before, so he inwardly panicked, and out of reflex, he plucked the purple plant all the way to its roots, and smashed it at the screen that appeared before his eyes.
To his dismay, Hedry found his weapon, 'the purple plant' passing through the transparent screen as if the screen never existed.
Facing such an 'unknown enemy', Hedry panicked and started fleeing from the scene!
Too bad, the screen was like his shadow, following him everywhere he ran, it clung to his vision like a vixen.
"Oh! F!" Hedry freaked out even more when he found that he could not outrun the transparent screen. His back felt uncomfortable, filled with cold sweat.
"Why the fuck is this happening to me?"
Sob, sob, sob. Tears appeared in his eyes as he gave up on fleeing and succumbed to his fate. He would only die at most anyway!
A minute later.
"Eh? Nothing is happening to me?" He lifted his head, only to find the transparent screen still covering his vision.
'This unknown thing does not want to harm me?' He thought inwardly.
He slowly stretched his hand out towards the screen, halfway, he freaked out and hurriedly closed his eyes and looked towards the ground. Still nothing happened.
He once again looked up. The screen was still there. Determination appeared in his eyes, he stretched out his hand, half way, he suppresssed his urge to retreat and continued on.
When the screen was only two centimetres away, his outstretched-hand started dancing.
Forward, backward, forward, backward, sidewards, backwards. It even turned downwards! It seems his determination was still weak.
2 minutes later, his outstretched hand grew tired! Just like an old woman that had just ran a marathon!
Annoyed at himself, Hedry finally covered the last remaining distance.
Whoosh!
Unsurprisingly, his hand passed through the screen. But Hedry became calmer after seeing this. This transparent screen did not seem to have any intentions to harm him. Though the screen was weird, he did not fear it as much as before.
"You want to follow me?" He inquired. Even when he fled from it, the screen followed him as if it was his past life's persistent lover, so Hedry felt some vague feelings towards the screen.
Suddenly the screen flickered twice, before it vanished.
"..."
'Do you hate me so much! I screwed my ass off until now just so that I could San away from you, but you decided to go away the moment when I wanted you to follow me!'
Hearing no response, Hedry soon threw this incident at the back of his head. After all, his goal was to suppress humans as soon as possible. Nothing can come in between him and suppressing humans!
Unfortunately, his stomach wasn't satisfied with just a Purple Fruit, so Hedry had to pluck a fruit from another plant at the side. This fruit, unlike the previous one, was red in colour. Hedry did not mind it though and gulped the fruit down his throat.

"F...F...F..." Hedry jumped back in fright. Why the F did the transparent screen make an appearance once more! Why couldn't it just leave him alone.
"Wait, the screen appeared for the first time when I consumed a fruit, and re-appeared after consuming another, does it follow some pattern." Hedry had a bulb, light-up inside his head suddenly.
He carefully checked the contents of the screen and was surprised to find that it was something useful. Eating these fruits seemed to increase his Health and Stamina!
But, Hedry was little confused. He had eaten many fruits until now, but in his twenty year life, he had never seen this transparent screen before!
"Was it because these fruits grew up in human kingdoms? Do they carry magical properties because they grew up in human kingdoms?!" Hedry thought it was possible.
But that would mean the humans that ate these fruits on daily basis must have unbelievable amount of Health and Stamina.
For a second, Hedry grew scared. His ambition had always been to suppress humans! To think humans were so scary!
But a second later, determination took over him. He too, would eat as many fruits as possible to increase his Health and Stamina, and only after eating a large amount of fruits would he start suppressing humans! He won't give up on suppressing humans even if he had give away his life for it!
"Um" Hedry nodded to himself. He held his head towards the sky, feeling proud as he praised his brain for coming up with such an excellent plan!
