Chapter 1: NEW DRESS_
Wind chimes with little bells and feathers hung at the window of a room, making sounds with every time the wind comes in or out .
On bed the a girl was sleeping peacefully, without making any unnescessary sound her mother got in, a beautiful dress in her hand ,she just place it on her dresser and walked toward the bed and placed a soft kiss on her daughters forehead and a whispered near her ear "happy birthday dear, shyla"
and she left the room .
After a long and peaceful sleep, shyla opened her eyes ,removed her sheet, rubbing her eyes stretching her arms she yawns onces again, untill her eyes falls on the dress that was on her dresser, she got excited seeing a new dress on her dresser she just got up and grabbed the dress in her hand, she looked at the beautiful dress and started wondering who can brought it and why? she has forgotten today was her birthday she was in her thoughts, but her peace was yet to be disturbed suddenly her sister, younger sister Nora just bumped in her room and was ready to trouble her elder sis because she remember her mom and dad yesterday brought a dress for shyla as her birthday present she want to see the dress so that she can tease her later but to her bad the dress was really bueatiful before that her eyes catch a sight of dress that was in shyla's hand, she just grabbed the dress from her hand 'oh this is the dress that mom dad brought yesterday for her she really don't deserve it .."give it to me, such a low graded people like you shouldn't have a dress like this give it to me it will not suit you" shyla heard her sister's words, her heart ich's on her word, she just want to take the dress from her sister Nora's hand and kick her out from her room. But she can't she was the outsider here not nora.
Shyla thought to herself if her mother hadn't married after her father's death, she wouldn't had to face these situation in her life, she was lost in her thought, and suddenly was taken back by the slap that nora has placed on face leaving a redness on her face "hey nora, are you nuts!" shyla said while facing nora and her hand holding tightly the dress. "hahahaha nutss! 'shy' as dad said you are really a dumb girl like your father" after hearing this shyla was about to cry but she hold it to herself to pretend to be brave 'i just want to leave this place with my mother who wants to live in a place like this... you are talking about my dad, what do you know about him he was not dumb or anything else. He was the most genius person i ever known moreover he was the one who loves me more than anything' shyla's heart felt hurt by the thought of her father she loves her father the most.
Shyla was now really in a bad mood because of what nora has said about her father .."nora leave my dress, that doesn't belong to you it is mine" after hearing shyla's angry tone nora started arguing with her loudly enough to reach there voices to there parents room, john jumped from his bed headed to shyla's room as if there is no tommorrow and shyla's mother following inside the room they caught sight of dress in both girls hand they both breath out in relief. They thought someone got murdered, after hearing nora's screaming.
"dad see shyla has stealed my new dress"
after hearing his daughter words john want to throw shyla out of his house. "shyla why have you stealed nora's dress this isn't considered in good habits" hearing this shyla raised her brow 'is lying consisdered as good habit in your so called dictionary shyla thought to herself. "shyla why have you brought nora's cloth here you have enough of yours" shyla can hear her mother speaking. "mom no i have not stealed any dress nor i have brought her cloth, why would i do that, her dress will not fit me anyways..you know that and this dress was on my dresser, and now she is saying this is mine" after hearing what shyla said nora was red as tomato she was really angry what shyla said 'i am not fat... you little bitch' nora thought in her head ...shyla raised her brow upon hearing nora's thought 'what "bitch" she called me bitch... nora i will kill you' shyla said in her mind she then quickly cameback from her thought... and heard her mother's voice "ohh! dear nora its not your new dress, see john its the dress we brought yesterday as shyla's birthday present see" shyla heard her mother explaining this to her stepfather john, she felt sad about this, her mother is giving an explaination to this blindfolded man, she just hate her stepfather, who always fights with her mother related to her (shyla) or to her father. "yes, nora it is that dress which your mother and me brought yesterday" nora heard her father her face got paled she want to kick this shyla out she don't like her mother loving shyla with equal amount of love she gives to her, she just don't want shyla in her home after staring at each other with hateful looks, they can hear there mother saying "babies! just come down stairs we will eat breakfast, whosoever is late shall not be given pastry later" after hearing this both girl forget about there fight and headed toward downstairs to have breakfast. The shyla was about to begin to eat her toast but john interruped her, "shyla and nora there is an important thing we have to discuss with you two" nora got excited after hearing what her father said, shyla was least interested in what john was going to talk about, she want to finish her break fast and call her friend and head back to college, she was not really interested what john was about to say she always feel that he all the time make her fathers image bad in front of her and her mother, her heart ich's at this thought, "dear, can i start or you are going to start" john said to her wife with silly smile on his face, "mom and john say it clear i have to go to my college" shyla interruped him..
"sweetei don't need to go, we are going to shift to New york this sunday and you two will be studing there after our shift" shyla face darkened after hearing what her mom Lily was saying, shyla was sure that this is because of john he want to take her mom away where no one knows about her father where there is no memory of her father, shyla felt irritated at the thought of this, she don't what to leave this placed, where her father's memories are.
On the other hand nora got more excited after hearing what her mother had said "mom is it true, or you two not kidding around, are we really going to New york oh god is it a dream. i can't believe, shyla we are going to new york i am really happy mom, dad thank you" nora got up leaving the table, dancing and singing and headed back to her room, nora doesn't love shyla because shyla don't love her father, shyla always speaks to john in rude tone, nora don't like that, but deep inside nora cares for shyla, and shyla also cares for her she is always fullfilly her elder sisters duty but never accepted it and so is the case to nora.
After completing the breakfast john is about to leave for office he got up and returned to his room so that before leaving he can took his file and laptop form his room and walked toward the door before leaving he called his wife "Lily, i am going, will you please come here" hearing this lily walked towards john, he leaned towards her and placed his lips on her "good bye darling, will be late today, have to ask for transfer to my boss" lily smiles at him, after what he said and left .
Shlya 's face fall after witnessing the scene, deep inside she want to ripe johns mouth but controlled her angry when her mother returned to table shyla asked her "mom do you really loved dad" hearing shyla, lily 's face darkened "sweeti, what are you saying of course i love him" shyla raised her brow after hearing, what her mother said "so is it easy to forget someone who you love, so easily that you can start a new life with someone else" lily understooded what shyla was saying.
"shyla sometimes things don't go that way what we actually want or what we actually expected i loved Alex a lot but he is gone now, we have to live in this world alone, we have john who loves me a lot and also you shyla aren't we happy here" shyla's heart inch's after hearing her mother.
"shyla you should pack your things we are heading to new york day after tomorrow, pack everything dear"
shyla's heart hurts to the thought of leaving this place where her good and loving memories with her father are. but she can't do anything she had to go with her mother to be with her always she can't trust the john at all. after the argument she returned to her room. packing all things in big brown boxes nora and shyla heard there mothers call "sweeties come down i have made cookies for us"
