Chapter 2: The Man With The White beard

A week had passed since that day, that treacherous day. My eyes were still dry from the amount of tears I shed last night. I just laid there on my soft, comfy bed. Staring at the ceiling, at nothingness. It felt as if someone had just gouged my heart out, and someone did. The man with the black suit, just thinking about him made me want to shrivel up.

𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤 𝐊𝐧𝐨𝐜𝐤. It was Lux again, he always knocks on my door to give me the breakfast his mom prepared for me. "Hey Jackson, it's me again. I haven't seen you in a while and uh, I just wanted to let you know that I know you're going through a tough time, so if you ever need someone to talk to, don't be afraid to call me. Anyways, my mom made you scrambled eggs and bacon today because she knows it's your favorite. Um, so, yeah, I'm gonna head off now." I knew he paused to see if I would reply, however I just couldn't bring myself to say anything.

I don't know what it was, but ever since that day I couldn't get this one thought off my mind, "𝘐𝘧 𝘐 𝘥𝘪𝘥𝘯'𝘵 𝘱𝘭𝘢𝘺 𝘣𝘢𝘴𝘬𝘦𝘵𝘣𝘢𝘭𝘭 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘩𝘪𝘮, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘯 𝘐 𝘤𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘱𝘳𝘰𝘵𝘦𝘤𝘵𝘦𝘥 𝘮𝘺 𝘧𝘢𝘮𝘪𝘭𝘺 𝘧𝘳𝘰𝘮 𝘣𝘦𝘪𝘯𝘨 𝘴𝘭𝘢𝘶𝘨𝘩𝘵𝘦𝘳𝘦𝘥." Lux was the best friend I could have ever asked for, but right now I need to think by myself. 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩 𝐒𝐭𝐞𝐩. Lux stepped down the stairs and started walking to his basketball camp. I pulled the comforter off my body and got up from my bed. I walked over to the door, looked through the peephole, and grabbed my breakfast. As I dug into the food I began to think of my interview today. The cops are going to interview me to see if I can help them find the murderer. Before I realized it, the scrambled eggs were gone. "𝘋𝘢𝘮𝘯, 𝘑𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘰𝘯'𝘴 𝘮𝘰𝘮 𝘪𝘴 𝘢 𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘵𝘵𝘺 𝘨𝘰𝘰𝘥 𝘤𝘰𝘰𝘬." I walked back over to my bed and lied down again. I pulled out my phone and stared mindlessly at the screen. An hour had passed and it was time to get ready for the interview. I stripped down and turned on the shower. I made sure the water was cold, freezing cold. Ever since mom and Cass 𝘭𝘦𝘧𝘵, I felt as though I didn't deserve to enjoy anything anymore, that it was my fault mom and Cass died a gruesome death. I stood still while liquid icicles hit my back. I got out of the shower and dried myself off. I changed into my clothes. 𝐃𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐃𝐨𝐧𝐠. The investigators were here. I opened the door to see two tall burly men. Both were dressed the same: They were wearing suits, had shades, and a little earpiece in their ear.

"Hello, I'm detective Wilson and this is agent Johnson," the detective said as he pointed over to his colleague. "May we come in?"

"Uhh, sure," I was still dazed at how professional they looked.

"So from our understanding your case is a homicide followed by a suicide," agent Johnson said.

"You got the homicide part right, but my mom didn't kill herself, or my sister," I replied.

"Listen kid, I know it's hard to accept the truth, but the evidence says it all. There was one knife on the floor with your sister's and your mom's blood. The knife also had your mom's fingerprints on it," detective Wilson told me. I was shocked, did they really not believe me?

"𝘔𝘢𝘺𝘣𝘦 𝘪𝘧 𝘐 𝘵𝘰𝘭𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘮𝘢𝘯 𝘪𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘣𝘭𝘢𝘤𝘬 𝘴𝘶𝘪𝘵, 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘺 𝘸𝘰𝘶𝘭𝘥 𝘣𝘦𝘭𝘪𝘦𝘷𝘦 𝘮𝘦. 𝘕𝘰 𝘐 𝘤𝘢𝘯'𝘵 𝘫𝘶𝘴𝘵 𝘨𝘪𝘷𝘦 𝘢 𝘷𝘢𝘨𝘶𝘦 𝘥𝘦𝘴𝘤𝘳𝘪𝘱𝘵𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦 𝘵𝘩𝘢𝘵," I needed to remember what he looked like. "𝘊𝘰𝘮𝘦 𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬 𝘑𝘢𝘤𝘬𝘴𝘰𝘯, 𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘬," but no matter how hard I tried to remember his face, all I could recall was his suit. "𝘍𝘶𝘤𝘬 𝘪𝘵 𝘐 𝘢𝘵 𝘭𝘦𝘢𝘴𝘵 𝘩𝘢𝘷𝘦 𝘵𝘰 𝘵𝘦𝘭𝘭 𝘵𝘩𝘦𝘮 𝘴𝘰𝘮𝘦𝘵𝘩𝘪𝘯𝘨."

"No, someone was in my house, I saw the murderer," I frantically told them. They gave me confused looks. "He was tall, and wore a black suit. I tried to punch him, but he disappeared into thin air." Their expressions instantly changed.

"𝘚𝘩𝘪𝘵, 𝘐 𝘴𝘢𝘪𝘥 𝘵𝘰𝘰 𝘮𝘶𝘤𝘩."

"Alright thank you for your help, we are going to head back to the station and work this out," agent Johnson said. I tried to stop them, but they had already left. I lightly tapped the door and turned around. Suddenly someone jammed their foot to stop the door from closing. "𝘞𝘩𝘢𝘵 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘧𝘶-," I turned around to see what it was. An old man with a huge white beard rushed over to me and started vigorously shaking my hand.

"Hi my name is Ajax, but you can just call me Jax. I couldn't help but hear you talk about a man in a black suit, and how he disappeared into thin air," he said. He was talking at the speed of sound. It was like his mouth and the words he said were mismatching.

"Whoa, dude calm down. If the police don't believe me then neither will you," I said while turning my back.

"NO... believe me I will. Truth is I have actually met him myself," he replied as he tilted his head down.

"What! Did you really meet the man in the black suit," I asked.

"Well, yeah, I met him in the same way you met him," he said. Now I could tell why he was uneasy when talking about him. "Anyways the guy you are looking for goes by the name 'ARGUS'. I have been chasing him down for 15 years, but haven't even caught a glimpse of him since my daughter died."

"Oh... I'm sorry to hear tha-," he cut me off before I could finish.

"He is the boss of a gang called 'Genesis'. Everyone in that gang has killed at least 100 people."

"So you're saying those bastards killed my family," I asked as my face grew fierce. "I'll kill each and every one of them."

"Listen kid, I get it. You want revenge for your family, but it's not that simple. Genesis is impossible to catch. If you ever find them, it's because they wanted you to find them."

"Jax, shut up. Think about it, you've been working alone for all this time and you haven't gotten shit. If we work together then we have a chance at catching them," I said.

"No it won't work like that. These people are very dangerous, and you don't look like you could hurt a fly," he replied.

"Just give me a gun and I can kill anyone. No one can outrun a bullet," I said.

"You'd be surprised," he mumbled.

"What was that," I asked.

"Nothing, there is just this one small thing," he said.

"What now," I asked.

"I'm actually not working alone," he mumbled.

"The fuck do you mean you aren't working alone," I yelled.

"It means he's not working alone," said a voice behind me. I quickly turned around to see who it was. My eyes grew wide after I recognized who it was.

"Holy shit it's you," I exclaimed.
