Chapter 167: CHAPTER 167: Really Hate Feeling Helpless
"Do you think the emperor knows?" Drake asked him.
"It is better to presume that no, I think this is something that she had kept to herself. Something I just found out for watching her closely," Hunter replied.
He decided that they will inform the empire once they are sure of everything and they understood just how this power works.
But Saphira's condition and seeing her in pain when all along they barely see her wince with the wounds she had received, it pained their hearts greatly.
Zian being there and them speaking of such a matter felt a tremendous pressure.
This means that they are giving him the trust that he will keep it to himself.
He could only scratch the back of his head for as compared to Felix, who will be with them from here on out, he will be staying in the Empire.
He was being entrusted with the duty of keeping quiet about such a big thing.
The reason he felt a bit awkward was because he interacted with them for a short period of time and he was already given such trust.
Felix, on the other hand, was even more in awe towards Saphira.
She really knows how to keep quiet about so many things but when it was revealed it was a complete shock to everyone around her.
In the end, tehy chose to move their own ways.
Zian was still too tired and the information he received was still too much that he had excused himself first.
The others followed saying that they will continue what Saphira wanted to do.
Soon, it was only Ridge and Hunter who was left in the hall.
"You're worried," Ridge said.
"How can I not? This time around we have no idea when she will wake up of if this is not life threatening," he replied.
"She is not weak Hunter, unlike back then and unlike that person," Ridge told him referring to an incident in the past.
An incident when there was only the two of them who were hanging out together.
Since he was the son of the poison master of the empire, he spent most of his time at the royal science center where Hunter would hang out from time to time as well.
This was back when they were but five years olds.
Before they were subjected to all of the training in preparation for this mission.
"I don't know, it has been so long since I felt this helpless," Hunter answered.
That child's face was still very clear in his memories.
No matter how much time have passed, it was still very clear.
The clear eyes of that young girl wanting help and the lifeless eyes that wanted to simply die.
"It was not our fault, it was not your fault," Ridge commented.
That incident had a great impact on the reason why Hunter chose to be aloof and rarely interacts.
If not for the character of the rest and Saphira, surely he wouldn't be able to get close to them.
Unlike when they were very young.
Hunter was actually a friendly person.
But just like how Drake changed into a second Hunter because of what happened eight years ago, Hunter also changed because of that incident.
All seven of them have pasts that they carry.
A past they didn't want to remember but sometimes it just won't disappear.
Each one of them are the same.
They were born in a family of mythological beasts.
Just as it was prestigious, it was as deadly.
Subjected to different thoughts and actions.
Things that others would deem traumatic.
As for him and Hunter?
They were made to realize just how powerless they were, couldn't even save one child when all along they were children themselves.
And what they witnessed back then?
It was etched in their minds through and through not allowing them to forget it every single day.
The reason Ridge became obsessed with creating more potions.
The reason Hunter became more focused on his duties as a prince.
'If I had more potions back then, potions that could really help then maybe she wouldn't have wished she had died instead.'
'If I were more focused on my duties and noticed that something was wrong, maybe I would have saved her much earlier.'
They were five but their thoughts were that of an adult.
Thoughts they shouldn't have had if the real ones were better.
Reginald and Radcliff were even guiltier towards their children.
"I really hate feeling helpless," Hunter clenched his hand that was on the cocoon into fist.
Ridge didn't say anything more and simply placed his hand on Hunter's shoulder.
But he felt the same.
The helplessness, he never wanted to feel again no matter what, why they wanted to become stronger every single day.
"She will be fine, I can tell that much," Ridge told him.
"But as you have said a while ago, we have things we need to do. It is time we do it," he followed before walking out of that place.
Hunter was well aware, that there are more important things now.
Saphira being enclosed in this means she was once again being strengthened.
Right now, they needed to strengthen themselves even more in order not to hold her back.
'Qirin, let's do it.'
Qirin came out of him and the two of them walked out of that place.
But not after he had asked everyone to check Saphira from time to time.
There is one thing he had been trying to do since the island where everything begun.
But until now, he was still having difficulties.
Since she is improving he needs to make sure that he can follow as well.
With clenched fists, he and Qirin went to the forests and searched for a volcano.
Before she wakes up, he will make sure that he will be able to finally use magma.
Additional power that he knew would be useful all through out their mission.
