After being discharged from the hospital, Emily was immediately by Chad's parents, who apologized to her on behalf of their son. However, it was not that they were truly sorry for their son's actions. But rather, their real intent was getting Emily to drop the charges against Chad.

Though there was a lengthy debate between Emily and Chad's parents, they ended up guilt tripping her into doing what they wanted. Specifically, by saying that Emily was going to ruin Chad's future simply because of a petty fight between the two of them.
