Chapter 131: Home Sweet Home III
Their little cottage on the hill looked exactly as it did before they had left, just with a distinct lack of boxes littering the place and more than a little dust collected over every surface from the months of disuse.
Yuliang glared at granny when he noticed the state of the house.
Granny just smiled at him helplessly, "You know I'm busy, Yuli. I barely have time to clean my own place, let alone yours. I did leave some new cleaning supplies in the cupboard under the sink for you. I also already turned on the water heater, and left food for you on the dining table, which I did clean."
Yulang relented with a sigh and gathered all the supplies for a deep clean of the house. He was hungry and tired, but he refused to eat in such a filthy place.
Yukio dragged their suitcases into their rooms and started on his shower since they heard the water running not long after.
Putting on the new rubber gloves and keeping his mask on, Yuliang glanced at Hala, who still hovered at the door with that far away look in her eyes that suggested she was deep in thought.
"Did you want to stay?" Yuliang cleared his throat, "for lunch?"
His voice snapped his grandmother out of her thoughts. "Oh no. That will not be necessary. I already had mine at the clinic before I came to the station."
Yuliang shook his head with a frown on his face. "It's always clinic this, clinic that. Do you even have a life beyond that?"
Hala ducked her head, looking almost sheepish, but she laughed, "Oh, come now. You and your brother are my life beyond that. I will join the two of you for dinner to make up for it, alright?"
Yuliang ducked his head, feeling embarrassed now himself, but he couldn't deny the warmth that came with it as well. "Okay," he said before regaining his annoyed edge and sending the older woman a glare. "You better come over before 10, or I'm throwing everything in the fire."
Hala laughed again, "Of course, but don't wait up too long waiting for me."
