Chapter 2: Shacking up in a Shack

As he came back to consciousness, Drake took stock of his situation. He felt the difference in power between his past incarnation first. He felt mortal for the first time in almost 20 years. The lack of power was a glaring difference that told him that the reincarnation had worked properly.

Carrying on his inspection, the next thing that hit him was something that he was expecting, but at the same time was pretty shocking for him. His body was now that of a three year old child. Taking a closer look, he could tell that the strength and resilience of his new body were much greater than that of the average three year old. Moving around a bit, he could tell that he was also a lot more coordinated. Advantages that would help him as he grew.

Looking from the outside, we see a three year old child with delicate features that showed promise of the stunning man he would become. He had red hair that turned to blue at the tips. But what really caught attention were the blue eyes, with the pupil being a dark blue and the white of the eye being a very light shade of blue instead of white.

Looking around himself, he found himself on a bed in a small room. The room that he was in was empty of anyone else but there were clear signs that the place was inhabited.

Even with the knowledge that that there were other people around, Drake did not panic. Mainly as some of the information that he was given regarding his reincarnation told him that the people who took him in would be massively important to the future. The information itself, was present in his mind as soon as he awoke.

Another piece of information he was given, and what made him feel the most relaxed was the fact that he would be totally safe up until his power was unlocked at the age of 6.

Getting up from the bed, Drake proceeded to walk out of the room and started to explore the house that he was in.

It was a small wooden house, with the bedroom opening up into a hall and kitchen with a couple more rooms that came off it. Hearing the sound of a hammer striking metal, Drake had a sudden thought.

'Don't tell me I'll be living with those two for the next few years…'

Walking through the doorway through which the sound was coming, he could see a large man with black hair, hammering away at a piece of metal that was placed on a forge. Drake could visibly see the metal becoming more and more compact by the second.

The man in front of him could only be described as extraordinarily large, with muscles bulging throughout his body. He was wielding his hammer as if it weighed nothing. But his eyes conveyed a sense of loss and regret, but behind that was a will of iron which instantly told Drake that the person in front of him, no matter what faced him, would always come back stronger. He was like the metal he forged, he could be beaten over and over, but come back stronger because of it.

Instantly recognising the man as Tang Hao, the father of Tang San, Drake could tell that this was definitely a man who would be different from canon. This man would never waste his life away with drink, but would train for the day he could take his revenge.

Finishing his forging, Tang Hao looked at Drake and gave him a smile as he put away his tools.

"Well, I see you are awake now child. I know not who you are, or who your parents were, but before she passed away, my wife told me that I should look after you as well as my own son, so I picked you up and have brought you with me. She also told me that you would explain the rest to me, how a child as young as you will do that, I do not know, but I trust my wife.

But first, may I have your name?"

Asking Drake such, Tang Hao gestured for them to take a seat after leading him to the back of the forge overlooking a crib which contained an infant who was at the most a month or two old.

"Hello, my name is Drake and yes, I will, hopefully, be able to explain quite a bit of what is going on and why I am here."

Nodding at him to continue, Tang Hao focused his attention due to the seriousness of Drake's voice.

"I know that as a scion of the Clear Sky Clan, your education should be unparalleled in this world. And yes, I do know who you are, Tang Hao, and I will be explaining how.

I therefore assume that you know of the alternate universe theory that some researchers suggested a couple of hundred years ago."

At this, a pensive look came over Tang Hao's face and he nodded to signify his knowledge. Drake, obviously only having contact with the novels from his previous life, was given this information during his transfer to help him explain his existence to those that needed to know. And he was planning to let those that he truly trusted know eventually. Tang Hao, on the other hand, he was informed he could trust and due to Drakes trust in Morrigan and Thanatos, he decided to believe the information he was given.

"The theory is in fact accurate. There exists an infinite number of universes, some of which couldn't be more different and some which are close enough to be identical with only a couple of minor differences. Obviously this means that there are other people in other universes who are almost identical to us, but you have to remember that no matter what, there will be a slight difference between every soul meaning that we are all individuals.

The fact is, I am originally from another universe that was ending and therefore was given the chance to come here. The universe that I was from was very different from this one, but obviously all the novels on that planet had corresponding true universes which ran from similar, to identical, to the plots that I have read.

As you've probably guessed from how I'm speaking to you, this world is very similar to one which I have read about before. Obviously there are differences, the major one right now would be me. I didn't exist in the original and therefore, every single action of mine, no matter what, will cause a difference between what I know happened and what will happen in this world.

I had also been informed that the history of what I know and what occurred in this world is almost identical, at least up until today.

There are, as I said, quite a few differences though. For instance, I have no idea how your wife, Ah Yin, knew about me. Another, I can never see you becoming a drunkard who can barely take care of your son like the Tang Hao in the novel, instead I see someone who will try to raise his son somewhere that is safe, while training in secret to become as powerful as possible before getting his revenge. Am I right?"

Finishing his explanation, he sat back and waited to see how Tang Hao responded.

"What you have told me should be impossible, but my wife told me to trust you. I don't know why she knew about you, but I am pretty sure that she had someway of knowing bits and pieces of the future. She always seemed to know before something major would happen. All except her death at least."

After saying this, you could see Tang Hao coming close to tears and he took a moment to compose himself.

"As you said, I am here as it is the safest place for me to be while Tang San grows up. And yes, I will take every spare moment I have to train so that I am strong enough to take revenge for what they did to Ah Yin."

Smiling at the confirmation of Tang Hao's character, Drake proceeded to ask the question which he needed answered so that he could effectively plan for the future.

"So, hearing all that I have said, and understanding that there are bits of information that I cannot give you because it will cause you more harm than help, will you let me stay with you till Tang San is 6 and leaving for a Spirit Academy?"

With a smile, Tang Hao gave his assent.

"You may indeed Drake."

They spent the next several hours with Tang Hao explaining the history of the world as he knew it and Drake started to tell Tang Hao about the history that he had read in the novels.

Eventually though, Drakes body started to tire. No matter what age he was mentally, his body was only three. Having overtaxed his body, Drake ended up falling asleep without much warning.

Smiling at the child in front of him, Tang Hao carried him to bed before sitting in the hall while cradling his own son, Tang San, as he contemplated what the future would bring him.

Looking into the fire he had set up in the hearth, he thought,

'You two shall be my pride. I will raise both of you as best as I can. Ah Yin, I will make you proud.'
