Chapter 7: Silver spoon

After Raven left the place, his assistant, Lance, gave her the food.

"I should give the school a call." She mumbled as she slid her thumb on the phone's screen while she was in the middle of eating her food.

"Master Xie has already taken care of it, Ms. Song." The quiet Lance said as he turned his gaze to her.

She was obviously surprised at what he said. Raven knew that she was working as a school nurse?

When she thought about it, she wanted to hit herself for being dumb. Of course, he knew! He was THE Raven Xie. With a snap of his fingers, he could have ordered someone to look into her background in one night. No wonder he was able to know her name. Who was she kidding? A man like him has enough authority and power.

Violet didn't want to involve herself further into that man. It was better if she stayed away from him.

Later that day, she was finally discharged from the hospital. She wanted to take the public transport to head back to her apartment but Lance insisted on driving her home just to make sure that she was fine. In the end, she didn't have a choice but to go along with him.

Violet was confused and curious. She was a stranger to Raven and him to her. He could have just sent his men and made them check on her earlier but he personally went there for her.

She has read so many novels where the male lead and female lead clicked the moment they met each other. She never believed in such events. She definitely didn't click on him as well.

Was there a reason behind his kindness to her?

Not wanting to deal with those thoughts any further, she decided to ignore what happened last night and this day.

After being dropped by Lance, she headed to her apartment building and directly headed to the elevator. She pressed on the button that had number 7 on it and a few seconds, the door slid close. The elevator car soon began to be lifted up to her designated floor.

The moment the door slid open, she went out and walked to where her room was.

Violet's room was small but it was neat and tidy, just how she liked to keep the place. The kitchen, dining area, and living room were located in one place. Her room was located near the back of the sofa while the guest room was located near the door. Because of the small space, the room only has one bathroom which was located just on the opposite side, facing the guest room.

This was her home and she liked it this way. She preferred being in a small space instead of a large place. She felt more secure this way.

She had always wanted to live her life simple. Her life was always simple until her father found her and brought her to the Song family.

Just like what her grandfather once said: ''the men of the Song family are loyal to their wife.' That included her dad.

Her parent's story was complicated but she could manage to keep it simple if she was ever to tell it to someone.

Violet's father, Jack, met her mother, Vivian during college. Her mother was a quiet person who tends to avoid men because of her childhood trauma but that trauma was healed ever since she met him.

Not long after they became friends, the two fell in love with each other. Things were going on smoothly for them for years until a month before graduation, Irene disappeared.

Jack searched for Vivian for so many years, refusing to marry anyone despite how his parents bombarded him with it. He refused to attend the arranged dates. Her father never stopped. That was how persistent he was, that was how much he loved Violet's mother.

Finally, after five years, he found her. She was living in a small apartment, alone with her child. Their child. Violet was the fruit of their love.

Jack later found out the reason why Vivian left was because of the debt collectors that were after her father. During that time, her father left her so she didn't have a choice but to run away from those collectors as well.

Vivian and little Violet were taken in by Jack and the Song family welcomed them. They were actually glad that Jack finally decided to take in a woman.

What was really tragic about her parents' story was... they both died during their flight to another country for their honeymoon.

The two were brought together and yet, they were only able to be together for a short time. the fIt was as if it's fate's way of telling that they were not meant to be. It was either separate or die.

Despite that, Violet never stopped believing in love thanks to her grandfather. Ever since her parent's died, it was her grandfather who became her second parent. It was all thanks to him that she was able to live a life with a silver spoon in her mouth that was why, she didn't want to disappoint him but she couldn't take on the family business all because it was handled by her father's older brother, Allen. It was a family rule that all firstborn should take the inheritance. In her case, the only thing she could inherit was the Song family mansion.

She didn't have any problem with it, it was the place where she grew up so she was more than willing to inherit it. She was not the type to ask more for her inheritance after all.
