Chapter 8: Chapter 8: New House, New Everything (3/4)

The warmth inside his body made Luo Hao feel a little sleepy on this cold night.

After tucking in Xiao Ying, Luo Hao got up and walked to the neighboring bed, covering himself with a patched blanket.

For the first time in the winter, he was able to feel warm and fall asleep.

....

The next morning, Luo Hao got up early and called Xiao Ying.

Instead of going to chop wood as usual, he wandered around the residential area north of the town.

After spending the morning doing this, Luo Hao chose a small courtyard that was closer to Xiao Ying's dyeing workshop.

He signed the lease and made it their new home.

Although it was a small courtyard, there was a one-person high mud wall and a big wooden door outside.

The house inside was not big, but it was definitely enough for a family of three. There were two wooden beds and some basic furniture.

The rent for a month was one or two silver pieces, and Luo Hao paid for three months in advance.

"Let's go to the textile street and buy some cotton and thick blankets, and then make two pieces of clothing."

"Let's get ready for winter first. When everything is bought, Xiao Ying should be done with work."

Looking at the simple and neat arrangement inside the house, Luo Hao nodded in satisfaction.

Then he went outside, ready to go to the street where textile products were sold to prepare for winter clothing and bedding.

After all, there is some money in hand now, and he cannot endure another difficult winter like last year.

The location of Textile Street was in the north of the town, not far from Luo Hao's new home.

Just walk over a stone bridge to the other side.

After bargaining with the boss for half a day and buying two thick quilts and cotton, Luo Hao carried the cotton and walked towards the way back.

When he reached the other side of the stone bridge, the crowd on the other side caught Luo Hao's attention.

"How many times has it been this year? How could it fall into the river like that?"

"That child seems to be the little son of the owner of the soy sauce shop next door. It's really pitiful."

"Who doesn't know that? Every year, when winter comes, the water monkeys come to the city to find young and strong men to suck their blood."

"In the future, it's better to go out less at night. It's only been missing for two days, and the person has become like this..."

After returning from the first simulation world, although Luo Hao's physical fitness had not become much stronger due to the help of qi and blood, it was still considered good among peers, and his vision and hearing had also improved a little.

But among his peers, he was considered pretty good, and his vision and hearing had also improved slightly.

Standing on the stone bridge and looking down from the height, Luo Hao also saw the young man, whom people said had smoked himself to death.

With a pale face, it seemed as if there was no flesh on his entire face, and the skin of his entire face was tightly attached to his facial bones.

Wearing thick clothes, Luo Hao could not see any wounds, but as common knowledge goes, if a person dies from drowning, their body will swell due to being soaked in water for a short amount of time.

However, the person who died in front of him looked like there was no flesh or blood in their body, just like a deflated balloon.

Thinking of the words of the residents in front of him, Luo Hao couldn't help but look towards the big river under the stone bridge that led to the city center.

Suddenly, a strange feeling arose in Luo Hao's heart, and his eyes involuntarily looked towards the water grass that was attached to the river embankment.

When Luo Hao looked carefully, there was a green glowing eyeball in the already green water grass...

But by the time Luo Hao took a closer look with a blink of an eye, that pair of eerie green lights had already disappeared without a trace.

"Did I see it wrong?"

Luo Hao couldn't help feeling a little uneasy, shook his head, and walked towards under the stone bridge.

After returning home and laying the new bedding on the two beds, Luo Hao walked directly to the nearby tailor shop on the street.

After showing the boss Xiao Ying's height and figure for a while, he paid the deposit and was told to come back three days later to pick it up.

Luo Hao then got a new set of clothes on the spot in the store, and after spending ten taels of silver, he still had three taels of silver and 500 copper left.

After buying some daily necessities with the remaining 500 copper, such as a copper basin, firewood, rice, oil, salt, soy sauce, vinegar, and tea, Luo Hao finally returned home.

.....

Inside the house.

"This should be about it, there's nothing else we need."

Luo Hao wiped the sweat from his forehead with the back of his hand, and a smile appeared on his face.

Originally, he could only eat steamed buns every day and occasionally indulge in a bowl of pickled vegetable noodles from a street vendor, which was already a luxury.

But today, Luo Hao carried a whole bag of rice back and even bought a piece of fatty and lean pork from the butcher's shop.

To improve their quality of life, they had to start with their diet.

Luo Hao couldn't remember the last time he ate meat or what it tasted like in this world. Now that he had some money, he knew he couldn't eat steamed buns every day, even if he couldn't have fish and meat at every meal.

But he still wanted to maintain the standards of an ordinary family.

After arranging the household items he had bought from the street market in the room and kitchen, Luo Hao headed outside.

He walked to the entrance of a dyeing workshop, where brightly colored silk fabrics hung above.

The unique smell of a dyeing workshop wafted into Luo Hao's nostrils.

The workshop's door was not closed, so Luo Hao walked in directly.

The first thing that came into view was various fabrics drying in the sun, and many women wearing work clothes were using wooden sticks to put the fabrics into large dyeing vats.

Xiao Ying was among them, but due to her height, she was standing on a large rock, trying to lean her body towards the vat, and using her small hands to press the fabric that emerged into the vat.
