Chapter 81: Growth Spurt

Inside Echidna's temporary house, Neo was laying down at the wooden table, looking at her now.
Her injuries were looking worse, starting from her feet, her left was missing, and her right leg was stabbed by some sort of sword.
Then her body, they were filled with wounds that came from a sword, and her left hand 5 out of 3 was missing.
And her face has the worse injury of all, 1/3rd of her face was burned by a 3rd degree, it was honestly disgusting to look at.
The only reason why I recognize it is because of her clothing, hair, and body size.
Either way, I couldn't believe that she was still alive, I know aura helps her recover faster, but this is bullshit, anyone who has this kind of injury should have died a while ago.
"She's quite the lucky girl, if it was a few weeks ago, I would have dissected her as I did with Makugo,"
Okay, that information was interesting, however, it's the kind of information that I definitely don't want to know.
Because I'm surely going to regret it.
"But luckily I managed to create a serum version of the prototype immortality, now I just need to inject this into her and we'll see the result."
I wasn't ready, but Echidna didn't hesitate to inject the serum into Neo's body, for a full minute nothing happened.
But after that, something happened to Neo, her body was twitching violently, and countless veins appeared from head to toe, making her look inhuman.
Then after another minute, her body stopped twitching and the recovery started, her missing feet were re-grown, the same with her fingers.
And then her face reverted to what it used to be.
"It worked.." I sigh in relief, it seems that saving her wouldn't be pointless anymore.
Then I noticed something different from Neo. I realized her body was steadily growing, and at a viable rate she was no longer 4 '10, but 5' 9 no one would call her a midget now.
It wasn't just her body size that grew, her feminine parts too, before she was injected with the prototype immortality medicine, her breast was already big, to begin with now, it's on Yang's size.
"Oh my, she grew? I didn't predict this change, interesting…" Echidna started writing notes.
Honestly, at this point, I've given up knowing where she pulls her things, because I know it's definitely not from her inventory I just know l.
"Echidna, I think you should change her clothes."
"Why?" Echidna looked at me while tilting her head.
"What do you mean why? Look at her! Do you not see her clothes getting ripped by her unexpected growth?!" I exclaimed while pointing at Neo.
"I'm not blind, I definitely saw that but what exactly is the point of her changing clothes..? She's fine, just let her stay like that. I'm not finished observing the test subject." Echidna insisted on continuing to observe this new specimen without changing new clothes.
"No, just no if you don't want to change her clothes then, fine I'll do it myself." I carried Neo's 'unconscious' body out of the table.
"Ah..! I'm not finished observing the test subject yet!"
"Echidna, you can observe that later she needed to be clothed properly," I stated, there's no one who could stop me from changing her clothes!
"Fine!" Echidna did not pout!
Honestly, it is rare for her to be emotional like this, I'd pay for her to be more expressive but I know that's impossible so, so that's why I'm savoring this moment while she's acting like a kid that complains because she didn't get what she wanted.

As I got inside the private room, all of a sudden Neo's 'unconscious' body moved and used the dagger that was hidden from her tights.
She would have succeeded in her murder attempt if I didn't know she would do that 10 seconds ago.
I quickly took the dagger away from her hand and locked her from moving.
"Miss, I don't think you want to do that."
Neo sneered at me and unexpectedly spoke. "Why do you think I wouldn't-?!"
Both of our eyes widened, I knew she was mute and couldn't speak, so to hear her voice was surprising.
"W-what..? How can I t-talk..?" Neo spoke in disbelief.
"I think I know why, it's because of the prototype medicine that Echidna injected into your body, not only it healed your grave wound but also your voice..? Are you mute perhaps?" I acted like I didn't know that she was mute, after all, I wasn't supposed to know.
Neo hesitated, technically she thought of me as an enemy but decided to answer anyway. "Y-yes…I was a mute but whatever that white witch injected me, it definitely healed my voice…"
White Witch? That's actually quite accurate, Echidna is a witch after all.
"Anyway, can you promise not to attack me? Technically I saved your life if it wasn't for Taylor who saw you, and me bringing you to Echidna you would have been dead, so are you really going to murder your benefactor? Because if you do, maybe we should have left you to die after all." I glared at her.
Neo thought for a moment, before sighing. "Fine, I'm not going to attack you or anyone as long as they won't bring me harm."
"Deal, see? It's that easy." Then I unrestrained her movement, thankfully she kept her word as she didn't attack me as soon as she got out of my restraint.
Neo had now time to breathe and look at herself, she realized that she grew in size, and her eyes widened in shock at the realization.
She couldn't help but start groping her tits, as she felt they were now bigger than before, she temporarily forgot that I was beside her staring.
"Ahem* Miss, did you forget that I'm here?"
Neo realized that but ultimately she didn't care and continued groping her tits. "Woah…is this what it feels like to grow?"
"Hey! At least have some shame! You know what, never mind, there are some clothes in the cabinet that fits your current size, don't complain if you don't like the clothes, after all, you don't have a choice."
Neo rolled her eyes, but she understood, she wasn't ignorant not to know the Remnant current state, having to choose your own clothes is a luxury these days.
I decided to leave her for a while so that she could change peacefully. I trust her not to run away, because if she did well…
Echidna would definitely chase her to the end of the world because she's a good precious test subject that she hasn't understood yet.

Neo didn't end up running, which is a relief because I don't really want to see Echidna chasing her, not to mention her state after Echidna catches her.
I don't believe for a moment that Echidna wouldn't be successful in catching Neo back to her lab, because she would do anything just to get Neo, that's how her greed works, she wouldn't be satisfied until she understands what Neo is capable of now.
Neo was now wearing a white long shirt that could cover her waist and short black pants.
She only wore slippers, I didn't think she was the type to wear slippers actually, however, there's also a tiny sign in her new white shirt.
It was I.C.E.C.R.E.A.M.
How predictable, she's literally named Neopolitan (Neapolitan), so it was quite obvious she'd choose the one with an ice cream sign.
"I see that you didn't run," I said with a smile.
Neo rolled her eyes and replied. "I don't see the point, it only causes me unnecessary trouble."
"You're not wrong, now follow me and properly meet the white witch, the person who is responsible for creating the prototype medicine and the person who saved your life." Technically Echidna did, while both Taylor and I played the part of saving Neo, the majority of the credit for saving Neo's life was from Echidna.
Without her prototype immortality, there's no way Neo could survive her injuries.
"Right.." Neo replied quietly, she may not look like it but she's grateful for saving her life. She knows how bad her injuries are, she never thought she'd be able to live, but she did. It was a miracle that she didn't expect to happen.
This was technically her second chance at life, then Neo and I went to where Echidna is.
Echidna noticed our presence and her eyes landed on Neo, she was staring at her like a hawk.
"You. Come. Here." Echidna demanded.
Neo looked at her and then at me, I could see her hesitation, and I shrugged at her. "That's just how she is, don't worry she won't hurt you…probably?"
"What do you mean, 'probably'?" However, before I could reply to her question, Echidna already dragged her away from the room.
I could only pray for Neo's safety, hopefully, nothing bad will happen.
Not even a second later I heard Neo screaming. "WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU DOING YOU WITC-HMMMP! HMPPP??!"
Like I said before, 'hopefully'.
Now I'm going to wait for the results.
