Chapter 30: Tonight's Date Plan

In my room. I stared at the ceiling blinking my eyes, as I still could believe what happened an hour ago,
"Actually managed to get a date from her…I didn't think she'd take it seriously…that or she knew that I was joking but regardless didn't care, this is unbelievable…!"
I Blake Robinson couldn't believe it, while it wasn't my intention. I managed to snag a date from a woman who has countless simps around my world!
People would die just to be in my place, she's one hell of a woman I tell you, did I forget to mention that the description of her in the anime doesn't do her justice? Her beauty is what you call perfection.
Aside from that…really?! A date from the Witch Of Greed herself?! Which to be believed that killed 5 men just by showing her god-damned face!
But I guess that's just misinformation, after all, none of us died from looking at her face, but surely all men who saw her got charmed. It would be a lie if I didn't but I wasn't showing it.
Because deep inside, my chances were non-exist, to be in a relationship with the Witch Of Greed? Pfft- who am I kidding.
Let's wake up from reality…!
Okay I'm wide awake and this is really, I can't sleep that date with her is on my damn mind!
At this rate, I'd be awake till morning, because it's hard for me to sleep with a lot of things going on my mind.

I went outside my room, and went to our private kitchen, aside from the main kitchen where we cook our restaurant dishes.
I decided to see if there are leftovers in the fridge because I want to eat just to forget about it.
As I arrived at the kitchen. I saw someone unexpected. It was Echidna herself. She noticed my presence and smiled at me and said, "What coincidence, are you here to eat some snacks?"
"Coincidence, indeed…" I have a slight suspicion that it wasn't or it's just me thinking too much.
"Why not take a seat?" Echidna invited me to take a seat near her, seeing that there was no point in refusing. I sat next to her.
"So, it's rare for you to be here…"
"Rare for me? No, it's exactly the opposite. It's rare for you to be here Blake, eating snacks at the exact time for months now, and this is the first time I saw you here at night." She pointed out the obvious fact.
I winced at her words, it was true this is the first time I've been here at the private kitchen at night because I never really bothered coming as I usually go straight to sleep.
Echidna stared at my face, then after a few moments, "You're thinking about our 'date' If I'm not wrong?"
What?! Did she read my mind or something?
"No, I can assure you that I didn't read your mind, Blake." Echidna stated the obvious.
Hearing her comment, I couldn't help but doubt it, how would she know that I'm thinking of that?
"Because I can see it on your face since you're not exactly very good at masking your emotions," Echidna spoke amused by my reaction.
Since young, she knew that she was different from the rest, she was smarter than the rest, more beautiful than the rest, it wouldn't be far off to call her a perfect human being.
But because she's different, she saw things differently from the norm, so she's an outcast from the rest, but that didn't bother her as she's aware that she's different.
Because of how smart she is, she could tell someone's thoughts just by looking at their expressions, she became an expert because it's very useful for negotiation.
"Wait, really…? Am I that obvious?" I wasn't sure, so far no one could read me as easily as she could.
"No, I'm just I'm good at reading someone's expression," Echidna said as a barely noticeable glint appeared in her eyes.
"I see…that's certainly a useful skill.." It really was knowing a person's thoughts just by looking at them is very useful in various ways.
"Indeed, let's not talk about this shall we?" Echidna clearly didn't want to talk about her ability to know someone else's thoughts by looking at their expressions.
I nodded, though I'm curious, not gonna lie, however, she clearly didn't want to talk about it so I didn't press the matter, maybe in future she'll tell me.
"So about the date…you know I-"
"If you're talking about it wasn't serious, yes I know I'm aware, but that's exactly it. Since you brought up the topic of 'date' I'm curious about it, while I know its meaning. I haven't been into one before, so I'd like to experience it myself." Echidna said with a hint of interest and longing, she's different from the rest she knows, but she can't help but to know what exactly is being 'ordinary' she wanted to experience first hand.
I blinked at her answer, and thought, 'Of course…she knew about my sarcasm, but still she wanted to go on a date with me out of curiosity.. wait.'
"This date is going to be your first time?" I replied in surprise, to think someone as beautiful as her, doesn't have any experience dating?
It's unthinkable, there would be countless men lining up to earn her favor, to court her, so you're telling me there is none? That's impossible.
"Blake, I know what you are thinking and no, there are indeed plenty of men that tried to woo me…but…most of them are just after my knowledge, others for my appearance, and the rest are arrogant fools thinking that me being their wife is a great honor to a witch like me." Echidna couldn't help but sigh as she said the last part.
"Let me guess the last part was nobles." It was a common cliche that most noble people think that they're a higher being than the rest just because of their title.
Echidna nodded, those were certainly not the best days of her life, just because they were born royals they think that they can have everything and be arrogant about it.
"So now, you know the reason why I don't have any experience."
"Yes, I do but just a question: why me? There is Archer who is definitely more attractive than me and Jaune.. right Jaune is just Jaune." I winced a little at Jaune's name, why did I bother mentioning him anyway.
Echidna listened to my words and put her finger into her chin as if she was thinking, then she replied, "It's not about being attractive Blake, if I was that kind of person that cares about things like that you won't be seeing me here, let's say you just have the right timing and as for Archer I do not like that man."
Does she mean I have good timing? I managed to snag a date because of the right 'timing'? It's hard to believe that.
However, the last part of her sentence was a surprise, she doesn't like Archer? Why?
"You don't like him? Why? Is it because of his jerk-like attitude?"
"No, not because of his attitude, I know what his true self is, beneath that jerky attitude of his is a person who loses everything." Echidna took a sip of her tea.
Wait, where did that tea come from? No nevermind.
She was right about Archer, and I'm impressed that she figured it out. If she knew about what was behind that facade of Archer, then how exactly did she not like him?
"Archer…is someone that I despise to become, because I know if I fail my dreams I would become similar to that man, he is a reminder that I shouldn't fail my ideals, that's the reason why I don't like him." Echidna looked serious as she mentioned that.
"I-i see…so the reason why you don't like him is that you don't want to be like him?"
"Yes, that's it."
How complicated, I can't imagine being in her shoes because becoming Archer isn't just me, never in a billion years, I'd become like him. I did not have a dream to become a champion of justice like he does and certainly the ideal to save everyone.
I'm just me, being me.
"Anyway, aside from that matter let's talk about the date, shall we? How about we do it tomorrow, you don't have a problem with that right?" Echidna stared right into my eyes.
"Ah! Yes, of course, I don't have anything better to do…"
"Great, so you're going to handle everything on our date because I don't have any idea of how a date works."
I nodded at her words and replied. "Fair enough, then leave it to me."
Unlike her, I have some experience dating my ex, so I have to start a plan for tomorrow.
Tonight is going to be a long night.
