Chapter 5: The Late 80's and Early 90's

As of February 1988 my grandparents had completely moved in to our home here in south London. This change came with some new challenges for me and my clones. Avoiding mother was not anything too hard to pull off. However avoiding two other people without them finding a clone was a bit harder. That led me to focus on my charms project even more. Luckily at this point I was learning magic along side my grandparents.

No one in this family was an idiot and quickly correlated the changes in my grandparents and father to me as the root cause. No one said anything however for fear of the consequences involved in having a child that could essentially create a legion of wizards. In all honesty Ted and Andromeda Tonks had chalked up the situation to a use of underage magic better known as accidental magic. In the minds of the family members affected, Henry had no conscious control over what he had done and it was highly unlikely the boy would subject them to the level of pain they went through to acquire their new status as metamorphmagi. Whatever the situation really was Ted and Andromeda did however want to set up precautions as clearly the magic performed had surpassed even wizards like Dumbledore in its application.

That thought process led to me becoming home schooled on magic by father and mother alongside my grandparents. As late bloomers Alfred and Isabella Tonks needed some form of education on magic as well so my parents saw this as killing two birds with one stone. Naturally being given free rein to access on the magical world I took to it like a fish in water. I was never allowed to practice any of the magic discussed but I could freely read the books available. This slowly changed my families perception of me into that of a bookworm.

That perception led to my birthday being an all out spending spree at Flourish and Blotts. The books given to me were centered around charms. It was strange that my family opted to give an eight year old books on charms but I couldn't complain. The books didn't contain anything that would be considered prized magical knowledge but even the so called acceptable information on spells was nuts. One of the books on charms in particular contained the extension charm which made my mouth water.

Apart from the gift of knowledge, since my birthdate came around I also was gifted a new quirk. The seventh quirk that manifested was, Foldabody. The ability to make myself as thin as paper and stretch my limbs may seem like a mere offshoot of Reed Richards abilities but it was an extremely useful quirk. At its peak this quirk would allow me to transform my body at the speed of sound. It was quite frankly a terrifying quirk when combined with most of my other quirks, particularly Overhaul as my hand could now stretch out to reach distant targets, combined with Overclock and well…combat power was no longer a concern.

All these gifts were great as a quirk and books on magic were arguably gifts that had no equal. Though my grandparents one upped my folks and sister by giving me a book on American history. Seems silly that to me this was the greatest gift of them all right?, but ladies and gentleman I could now confirm I was in the world of Marvel.

How?

Well turns out my grandparents were a bit more special than I thought. Alfred Tonks was an American soldier who participated in World War Two. He was a Grade A, American made, Nazi killing machine. During his deployment he fell in love with a French Resistance fighter, Isabella Beaumont. The rest, as they say, is history. Eventually Alfred Tonks relocated to France and later they relocated to Britain for work. They stayed in Britain longer than they would have thanks to fathers attendance to Hogwarts but they didn't stick around long after he graduated.

In the American history book gifted by my grandparents was an entire chapter on Captain America and the Howling Commandos. This was a dead give away to a question that always troubled me. Turns out I was still in the world of Marvel. My first instinct when I figured this out was to fly off and find some treasures that existed in the world of Marvel. Luckily my impulse was curbed by a strange realization that things in a world with Potter and Marvel blended together should not be as easy to handle as I imagine.

There was at least two immediate problems.

For one there was definitely crap organizations like SHIELD and Hydra around the world tracking Wizards or maybe the ministry was directly involved with the world council. Who knows. All that means is before I let my quirks go to my head I needed a way to avoid their monitoring.

The other problem was my age. While going to Wakanda to steal vibranium or making massive financial investments sounds great. The reality is minors don't have the ability to exploit such things. Telling my family to invest in certain companies was also silly. At the end of the day I was currently eight and no matter how intellectual I may be no one was going to risk their life savings on my words alone. Resources like vibranium on the other hand I could just create with a combination of Creation and Overhaul anyway. Too little gains for far too much effort.

As I was losing myself in thought my grandfather noticed my entrancement with the chapter on Captain America and went on to regale me with stories of him assisting the Captain. How much of it was true and how much of it was an old mans bragging wasn't completely clear but he was in fact part of the the 107th Infantry Regiment which means at the very least he did in fact meet the Captain.

After that birthdate I became brainier and brainier in the eyes of my family. It was honestly more of an act I was putting on as my clones did all the reading and my real body was often hiding in the room doing absolutely nothing. I wasn't completely unpresented in life however as I did attend mothers and fathers magic lessons almost religiously. I also got the unique pleasure of being an extremely young professor of magic...history.

At some point I became in charge of teaching my grandparents the history of wizarding kind. It's not that my parents were clueless on the history of the magical world, they were simply averse to the subject. As mother put it "I'd rather go through the Cruciatus curse than go over history lessons ever again!". It was clearly an exaggeration but it was easy for me to offer my services for the role. The role itself allowed for me to make requests for books or spells that showed up in the history books. While not every request was fulfilled, enough of them were. That in turn made my ridiculous knowledge on magic reasonable instead of seemingly spawning out of thin air.

Apart from Wizard history I also got to teach my grandparents and father how to acclimate to their metamorph status. The special guest lecturer known as Dora would often step in during these courses as I had innate control of the ability thanks to my mental control order. Overall the Wizard home schooling was a weird experience that bonded the whole family together.

Soon September rolled around and the eighth quirk manifestation shortly followed. This quirk was a grave reminder of how important Occlumency was. The quirk was Muddied.

Mental quirks were less than ten in My Hero Academia but in Marvel every telepath and their mother could ruin lives with mental shenanigans. Muddied was a quirk that would let me do the same to them. Of course it relied on touching the victims head but with Foldabody and Overclock the opportunity should come easily. The ten minutes of complete memory erasure the quirk provided could let me do a lot in a non lethal fashion. After being born I regretted selecting the quirk as it was meant to be exploited in the world of Marvel. Luckily this was still Marvel in one way or another. Which means in a world chalk full of psionics it may be possible to build the quirk to untold heights.

The quirks arrival prompted me to ask my parents for a book on occlumency. The query was unfortunately met with a rejection as they explained that such books were not only rare but heavily restricted. As they put it, my only opportunity to acquire such a book would be in the Hogwarts library restricted section. With those words I asked my sister to help me out. She had agreed to grant me the favor if she had the opportunity. Unfortunately nothing came of the request.

Soon I went back to my usual routine and waited until my next birthday came along. There was only one quirk left and to me it was likely the most important of them all. Seeing the chapter on Captain America in a history book really helped clarify somethings but there was still a lot of questions remaining.

The largest of them all was whether this was a comic or cinematic universe. No matter how deeply I went into muggle history books no definitive information could be gathered. My next best option was finding things connected to Marvel here in Britain. Unfortunately I had very little knowledge of British heroes in the comics let alone in the MCU or other media where they had little to no presence. I mean I had copied Psylockes power with my first order but she wasn't Captain Britain in every iteration and had little to no connection to the mantle for thirty years.

The only British things of note I could remember were that in the cinematic universe, particularly Thor 2, the reality stone is located in the UK and the fact that there was a London Sanctum. Though who knows if the British ministry of magic would allow a Sanctum to exist in its territory. Regardless I had no idea where to find the London Sanctum and it's presence would in reality confirm nothing for me. If the London Sanctum did exist, it still didn't rule out if I was in the cinematic universe or comic universe.

Of the two options I had available confirming the Thor 2 theory was the most beneficial. Which only left finding the portal to the reality stone, better known as the Aether. If it's presence was here that would mean I was definitely in the marvel cinematic universe or at least a version of it. Without the reality stones presence confirming if this was one of the comics or other marvel media universes would require finding someone like Charles Xavier or the Sorcerer Supreme.

The X-men tended to deal with reality shenanigans a lot and would welcome a mutant like my self. The deity did say I was created from a mutant body. That fact would mean Xavier would be more receptive to me than the Sorcerer Supreme. Quite frankly avoiding either of those options would be great.

Then again that deity was unreliable so I may not really be a mutant? Are wizards technically mutants? Questions and more questions.

Anyways as soon as I awakened the Pointer quirk I immediately used Pointer to try to find the portal to the Aether. My embarrassment of spinning in place like an idiot aside, I was actually pointing north.

Unfortunately I couldn't access the reality stone currently but it was not the only treasure on Earth. So my preparations to return to my old job began. I wasn't keen on undertaking any form of work once again but my clones couldn't use my quirks so the job fell on to me.

That said after a year of having my paternal grandparents live with us, father and mother opted to move us to a more magical community in 1989. So for the last two years we had been moved in to our new home in Devon. The same community that housed the Lovegood, Diggory, and Weasley families. We actually ended up growing close to the neighboring Diggory family as Dora and Cedric belonged to the same House at Hogwarts. A fact Mr. Amos Diggory loved to bring up around our family. Overall we once more settled in to a daily routine of teaching, learning, and working.

That happy routine life unfortunately came to be intruded upon by the people my mother wanted to avoid the most. On July 21st 1991 I had one of the most memorable Sunday mornings I would have in a long time.
