Chapter 2: CHAPTER 1

I was never who I am today. I used to be an ambitious woman who wanted to escape the wrath of my past.

"Hey, Gab! How's life going around you?" said a friend on the phone. I smiled and put my coffee on the table. "Ugh...Well, the same as always" I chuckled trying to make it a little positive. I lived in an apartment in New York City to study art and waited to finish college. "I just can't believe that you are now studying art and I just can't wait to see you on tv!" my friend told me happily. I sighed and wanted such a dream to happen one day. But even I know that success comes from hard work and it seems that I'm still not doing enough.

"How about you, Emy? How are you going on with your life?" I told her when sitting on a blue sofa. "I'm working on it then I'll let you know when I become a lawyer" she replied proudly. Emmeline or for short Emy was my only friend from high school until today. Even if we didn't pursue the same course, we were still in touch. "Looks like I'll have to review before the finals, I'm sorry Gab maybe we could go shopping after my finals? You are good at choosing the dress for me, right?" she said. I smiled. "Sure! you can call me anytime you need to talk" then finished our conversation. Emy had a bright future ahead of her and I knew she would be happy working as a lawyer but I can't guarantee that I also can achieve greatness. "Crap looks like I'm the only one who doesn't know whether I'll live or not" I sighed.

It's not that I was envious of Emy and I knew that I had the potential to reach the top by doing something I was born to do. I wanted to be powerful and decisive yet a wretched history cannot easily be destroyed when written. I plunged into the sofa, weak and exhausted however I never ran or ever did anything that would deplete my strength. I closed my eyes and forget the things that are holding me down. Before I can even rest, the phone started ringing again. "Crap not again"

I clenched the phone violently and answered it. "What!?" I yelled. "It's me, Alex..." a slightly scared voice replied. You suddenly realized that it was your boyfriend. Alex and I haven't been in terms lately. We started great in the beginning but out of a sudden, he began to distance himself from me and never really tried to see me even once. "Alex!" I happily said. "You know, I was going to have coffee with Emy but why don't we talk things out?" I wanted to strengthen our relationship again.

"Great, then maybe I can talk to you about something I wanted to tell you at the cafe right across your apartment," he told me. "What would that be?" I cheerfully said. But he didn't give a response and stopped the call. I gave a loud sigh and shouted like a mad rat after. Everything was supposed to be turning in a good direction. He wasn't there anymore. I was the only one living in her little apartment and yet I feels a gaze. Noticing the scary feeling, I didn't want to turn and yet I did. I turned on the left of the corner and found nothing but dust. I stood slowly and walked to the table where my bag was and reached for the door. I grabbed the door and tried to open it. But as I was trying to open it, I felt a sudden and nostalgic frightening stare as if it was getting closer. I tried to open and open but my heart was beating wildly. I looked around the apartment, scared and suddenly saw a door and was suddenly imagining footsteps coming from it. I was losing it and only wanted the door to open and when it did, I ran out and closed it. As I breathe in and out, the gaze unexpectedly vanished and all the sounds that I was hearing were fading away. I ran slowly into the elevator and reached the first floor. When I a lot of people sitting, finally, I felt at ease and walked towards the exit.

I walked until I reached my favorite cafe. Alex wasn't there yet and made me a little upset. I panted and looked for a table right outside the cafe so that Alex can see me. I went inside and ordered a Latte to strengthen myself. I, then took a novel out of my bag and started reading it. The title of the novel was "The Crown Prince's Love Wants Me" a story about a commoner named Fionna who was suddenly announced as the long-lost daughter of Duke Agneqis and Duchess Ravilios, who once had a forbidden relationship. Her real name was Fleur Vitara Agneqis and was prophesied to be the "Saintess of Divinity". She had the eyes of gold and hair, white as snow. The male lead who is the Crown prince didn't want to do anything from her and only showed her respect just as how righteous and wise he was. But he showed no love to anyone and only wanted for the good of the kingdom. He was quite the mysterious one. But right out of the blue, the prince immediately fell in love with Fleur when they were having tea. After all, this is a romance novel. But I never knew why the prince suddenly fell for her. What reason was it? The author could have just mentioned how beautiful or gentle she is but it was all in a surprising matter.

This novel instantly became popular in just 3 weeks. Emmy even gifted me this novel on my birthday and became obsessed with it. Of course, it was my only way to escape reality. Reading it, gave me brilliant ideas on sketching dresses and outfits. Like how soft and sweet Fleur is while the crown prince is bold and prideful of his ideas and that makes him proud.

After the popularity, the author announced that she would write the finale of the novel by November, revealing all the plot twists, and the reveal who won against the fight of the Crown Prince and Duke Ravilios. That was until something horrible happened.
