Chapter 2: A Missing Midget

As I walked into the dark and empty street, a calming silence greeted me. A cooling wind rushed by, brushing past my figure as I contemplated my next move. It was already predetermined that I would have the entirety of the multiverse at my fingertips — I simply had to decide how I wanted to go about it. After a few moments of deep thought, which in reality was simply day-dreaming different kinds of scenarios in my head, I decided that breaking the Batman and taking over Gotham City would be the first enjoyable thing I would accomplish in the DC Universe.

I walked down the street, exploring the surrounding blocks and the entirety of what part of Gotham I was in. The little bit of people who were left out at night in a city as dangerous as Gotham didn't live here for nothing, so when they had spotted an unkempt man wearing a bloody shirt and a pistol bulging from the back of his pants, they avoided him like the plague. After a while, the blood had dried and turned into a dark stain, no longer wetting my skin. The left over brain matter was another matter entirely though, the stench beginning to become irritating. I took it off and threw it aside, welcoming the chilling sensation on my now bare skin.

Not too long a distance away, a duo of burly men guarded what seemed to be a nightclub of sorts. A long line waited at the entrance, slowly moving forward as the bouncers checked to see if the people in front were on the list. Of course, the women were free to enter regardless. I was about to pass by nonchalantly when my eyes had finally registered the blaring neon sign on top of the entrance.

ICEBERG LOUNGE

A smirk etched itself onto my face.

I promptly walked towards the bouncers, ignoring the entire line. Grabbing the pistol from the back of my pants, I aimed it towards one of them and pulled the trigger, his brain matter splattering across the wall behind him along with everyone unlucky enough to be nearby. Not bothering to watch the corpse as it started to fall backwards from the impact, I quickly killed the other one as well. Having realized the situation they were in, the crowded line scattered as quickly as they could as they ran for their lives.

After checking the two corpses, I grabbed the pistols they had on them. Putting one in the back of my pants once again, I dual wielded the other. Walking into the club, it seemed that the music had muffled the sound of the gunshots outside, as plenty of people were still dancing without the slightest care in the world. That simply wouldn't do.

With a pull of the trigger, the DJ slumped over with a newfound hole in his head. As the music suddenly stopped, my actions seemed to have the effect I wanted as the ones that had seen the fresh corpse of the DJ started to either scream, run, or duck for cover. The security was quick to act, burly men in black suits armed with sub machine guns starting to surround the club's interior.

I rushed forward, shooting the ones closest to me in the head with pinpoint accuracy. Emptying out the rounds in both pistols, I threw them away and picked up a submachinegun from one of the security guards' corpses and opened fire, killing whoever was deemed a threat — whether it was a guard or the occassional wannabe hero attempting to do something stupid like tackle me or pick up a nearby gun.

Not too long after, the entire club was eerily silent. The rest of the people that were still alive were lying on the ground, terrified. Switching out the now empty gun with a fully loaded one that I borrowed from a nearby corpse, I ignored them and walked deeper into the club. Wasting the occasional mob, I ventured deeper into the penguin's lair. They deeper I went, the more firepower the goons seemed to wield as I came across those with pistols and submachine guns to assault rifles and body armor. The good thing about tougher enemies however, is the better rewards. Fully decked out in bullet proof armor and wielding an assault rifle with a full metal jacket, no one I came across had the ability to even slow me down.

Suddenly a trio of beautiful women armed to the teeth appeared, firing their weapons toward me unrelentlessly. Using a nearby corpse as a shield, I ran towards them, shooting two of them square in the face while planting a hole in the last one's shoulder. Her gun clattering to the floor as her arm was rendered useless, she quickly started drawing out a pistol with her remaining good arm. Before she could complete her action however, I planted my fist into her face without mercy, sending her body sprawling backwards from the force. Not giving her the chance to regain herself, I continued with my momentum from the punch, latching onto her neck with an iron grip and slammed her into the nearest wall.

Her eyes turned cloudy at the impact, only registering me once again after a few moments of dipping into unconsciousness. I didn't relent, slowly choking the life out of the fit black haired woman as she stared defiantly back at me. That wouldn't do.

Gripping her neck with my other arm as well, I lifted her surprisingly light body as far as I could reach before slamming her against the tiled floor, leaving her gasping in pain from the impact. Pulling out an assault rifle with one arm, I grabbed a fistful of her hair with the other, dragging her body across the floor as I continued my way deeper.

A few wasted mobs later, I finally came across a huge wooden door with a handle much lower than usual.

**BRATATATATAT**

As the smoke cleared from the barrel of my gun, the door was unexpectedly unscratched. Pulling my hostage from behind me, I lifted her up by the scruff of her neck before slapping her awake with my stolen assault rifle.

"Wake up."

When her eyes fully started registering me once again, I spoke once more after forcefully turning her head towards the wooden door and planting the barrel of the gun on the back of her skull.

"Open the door."

It seemed the Penguin henchwoman didn't value her job as high as her life as she unhesitatingly complied, stammering towards the door. A device opened up within the wall and scanned her retina before going back inside of it, the sound of a lock opening pleasing my ears.

Grabbing her once again, I twisted the handle and kicked the door open, using her body as a cover incase the midget decided to open fire.

There was no one inside.
