Chapter 80: Meeting Ysabel Law (1)
We rode the ten o'clock bus to Central City. JP kept turning on his seat while I took time to just close my eyes and tried to sleep. I knew he was feeling nervous and excited yet he probably doesn't know how to approach her long lost woman.
After four hours of long journey, the bus came to its terminal under a tall 38 storey building. This five star hotel which our great grandfather established along with the Arevalo Trans is mostly frequented by tourists. It is convenient not only for tourists and travelers but also for all kinds of functions. Basically, when my great grandpa started this, the bus routes were only four destination. To the north was five schedules a day. To the South City, there were four; to the Eastern Province were three and to the western Province were four. These however gradually increased as passengers came flocking to us. Whether it was the rapid growth of population in P country or the quality of service that people patronized, the business has been doing exceptionally well. Under my brother's administration, it's definitely expanding to every corner of the country.
JP called the informant who works for our grandpa to accompany us at Ysabel's place. Not long after, an average heighted and a bit fat man appeared in sight.
"Looking for Ysabel Law ehhh?" He said slightly raising his eyebrows.
" By the way, I'm Bruno. Been working with your grandpa for the past 20 years " he added deciphering that he was seeing the right men who ordered his appearance. "Follow me!" he said.
Not far away from the bus station was a secluded subdivision with two wide gates apparently an entrance and an exit. In between the gates is a security booth. From where we stood, I could see several large houses and tall buildings standing in between landscapes of plants and grasses.
"This is a highly secured subdivision. It is owned by a retired army General. He is living here himself being taken cared of by private nurses including Ysabel." The fat man pointed at the gate of the building.
"There are security cameras around its premises that's why we cannot go near. House owners and apartment tenants can come and go but they use finger prints as their access code." Bruno leaned on the electrical post beside the road where we stood.
"So how do we get to see her then? It's as if we will be arrested for entering the compound? Does she come out at all?" JP asked a little irritated. Maybe his excitement was watered down by this news.
"Yeah, you can ask from the security guard by the gate. They'll connect you to her apartment. If she agrees to let you in then you're in. Otherwise you can just wait for her outside when she comes out."
"Does she come out at hours like these?"JP frowned.
Just as Bruno was about to answer, a young woman with a shoulder length shiny brown hair came out chasing a cute little girl. The woman was wearing a blue dinem jumper pants with white t-shirt underneath. The baby looks like she was still learning how to run. Apparently, they were coming out for a walk.
"Speak of the angel and the angel will appear! See if you can recognize her. She just dyed her hair I guess." Bruno declared with a "mission-accomplished" tone.
JP rubbed his cheek seeming to contemplate what to do first.
"Come what may! I'm going to kidnap her!" JP said softly but was audible enough. He put his hands in his pockets and turn to me.
"Call a cab!" JP ordered.
"No bro, you call the cab, I'll get them. Bruno, lure them out first." I said.
"Sure, I'm expert to that!" Bruno proceeded forward towards the young woman and child who are now outside the gate. The woman now carrying the baby in her arms. I followed Bruno as he strode casually towards them. I pretended I was just also a casual passer by.
Bruno stopped infront of them and I slowed down my pace. Looking down at my phone while txting my bro, I tried to eavesdrop how Bruno lures her.
"Hi miss! Do you know a certain Ysabel Law in this compound? Bruno pretended to inquire.
"Ysabel Law? I'm not sure. Maybe you can ask the security over there." The woman turned her head pointing towards the gate where she just exited from.
Before she can turn back her head towards him, Bruno scooped the woman with child in his mascular arms then ran towards me. I got the baby girl then hurried to get into the taxi that has just stopped infront of us.
"To the Arevalo Trans Terminal!" JP instructed the driver immediately.
Ysabel wiggled her body in protest while she looked at each of us in total panic and fear. My brother who was seated at the front passenger seat lowered his cap to cover his face.
"Who are you? What do you want from me?" Ysabel trembled as she grabbed the baby from me.
"Ysabel Law, how are you?" My brother spoke from the front.
I checked her face to see the mole on her left cheek. Indeed it is there. She looks youthful and smart witted with it. Her eyes were round and her pink lips were slightly pouted. She has also a trace of dimple just below her right cheek.
"Why do you know me? Who are you?" She looked at the muscular man beside her then at me then she struggled to rise from her seat to grab the cap of the man infront.
JP held his cap in place as he bent forward to elude her hand grabbing his collar instead.
"No need to panic, my dear. I will never hurt you." JP said not even turning his head to her.
"You must have mistaken me for somebody else! I think you got the wrong person!" She protested. Her voice trembled as she hugged her baby.
JP kept quiet until we arrived at the terminal. I got down first and pulled her out from the cab. JP got down and stole the baby from her as she still wiggled to get away from us.
"Bro, lets go to the rooftop." I said then dragged her inside the elevator. While we were inside the elevator, nobody dared to speak except the baby girl calling her mommy and looking at these two men with them. JP kept his cap on his face.
Only after we alighted did JP toss his cap at me. "Ysabel Law, how are you? I see that you have a baby." JP said coldly as he grabbed her arm pulling her from me to his side. We sat down on bench at the mini park at the rooftop of the hotel.
"JP? Is it you?" Ysabel's round eyes flickered while her mouth gaped in surprise.
"How are you darling? Long time no see! Is this baby mine?" JP said straight forward with his usual dominant CEO voice.
Ysabel was evidently so shocked that she can only stare at the two of us back and forth.
"Is this baby mine? Why did you hide from me?" He asked again with a voice seemingly running out of patience from demanding answers to his queries.
"What makes you think of that? Of course not!" Ysabel said storming on her feet.
"You better tell me the truth now. I have many ways of finding out if you are lieing anyway." JP smiled as he reached out his hand to the baby's chin.
"Baby, what's your name?" JP's voice instantly turned gentle and soothing.
" My name is Jean Pauline Law" the baby beamed like she has memorized the line long ago.
"Jean Pauline Law, hmmmmm... say daddy!" JP told the child to imitate him.
"Jean Pauline has no daddy! Mommy said daddy went far away!" The baby said without much effort.
"What?" JP remarked coldly as he turned to Ysabel.
