Chapter 5: Chapter 5 - The young boy covered in blood
In the forest, a group of young adventures were on their way to salvage resources. The forest had always been a no man's land, people thus had to form groups as to not be attacked by bandits or monsters.
The group numbered up to four people. Aaron, the swordsman of the four and he was at the front of the formation. He didn't seem to have a lot of muscles but looked like someone who could easily handle a sword.
At his hands, a map could be seen, there were a lot of red and green circles on it. Aaron looked at it and then encouraged his team,"We're not far way guys, we may be able to reach our destination in half an hour and loot the place. It is said to have been a decimated goblin village, with some luck, we may find some gold haha!" He looked like the happy guy who would infect others with his smile.
Abella, in an attire that seemed to be made for mages and a long stick with a small purple crystal, retorted, " Stop screaming imbecile! Do you want us to be found out by monsters ?!"
Next to her, a boy in a very light armor and a bow in his hands grumped, "Please be quiet, you're making even more noise than him!" The girl blushed as she looked embarrassed.
The last one was a girl with dark brown hairs in a green suit. She was holding a small wand with a green crystal at the end. A look of embarrassment appeared on her face when she heard everyone argue, " Come on, let's calm down please, I'm sure we're gonna be alright. The goblin camp has been dealt with by someone else, so the chances of us see-"
*shrieek!*
Before she could finish her sentence, they heard a kid like scream, they all tensed up as they knew what this meant. It was impossible for a kid to be in this area of the forest, so it only meant that it was a goblin. They had been warned before about their devious and vicious way of baiting people in and ambush them.
Aaron who was the frontline, only made eye contact with his party and nodded. He started making his way toward the anomaly. As they got close, they could see the corpse of a goblin, on the side of its head was a stab like cut. Aaron and his party started getting covered in cold sweat. It was the first time they had ever seen death, they were but normal people who wanted to make a quick penny, inexperienced..
As everyone was hesitating, the boy with the bow decided to take a look, everyone followed him very closely, without making a sound. What they saw made their blood run cold.
The vegetation which was originally green was red, covered in blood and guts. There were organs lying everywhere, intestines, kidneys, eyes, ears and everything that could make a goblin was on the floor. Amidst this horrible sight, a young boy was standing before the corpse of a goblin, his back facing them.
As they were about to do anything, the boy crouched before the corpse and asked with a sad expression, "Hey wake up friend, we just got to know each other, you can't leave me like this.. We had so many more things to do with that skill of yours, so many things to learn, so many things to explore!" The boy then lifted his hand and touched the skinless goblin's head, no one could see the thin black shadow entering the goblin and going back in his hand. After a few seconds, the boy looked surprised and then stood up while turning around, as if searching for something.
A deadly silence covered the atmosphere, the boy then wore a displeased look, "Hey Sylphie, I think you've seen enough, right? Can we go back to the dorm now? I'm bored, unless we find another friend then we should go back, unless you have another test."
As he finished talking, the party saw a white haired girl gracefully and soundlessly land on the ground from a nearby tree. Just as she was about to walk toward him, her head turned their way.
This didn't go unnoticed by the young boy as he started scrutinizing them, but then lost interest shortly after, "Could you guys take this beautiful old lady to the guild? I'm sure it 'exists' somewhere close to the city walls."
The party, too terrified, didn't ask any questions and started carrying the corpse after putting it in a bag. Just as they were about to walk away, Dante asked, " Hey, I almost forgot to ask you where you young people were going. The pretty old lady seemed interested in the same thing, so I suppose something is interesting enough for people to wonder alone in this forest."
The archer answered defiantly, "Why should we tell you ? We're already doing you a favor by sending this corpse to the guild in your stead." 'It's only two peoples and two goblins, it's not that amazing now that we think about it. It's just that creep being a psycho that the scene clouded our minds.' He thought
The boy looked at him with an amused look, "Alright if you don't want to, I'm not gonna force your hand am I?" He then turned toward the white haired girl. As if sensing his question, the girl responded monotonously, " A goblin village has been dealt with a six hundreds meters from here. There may be stuff to loot."
He then looked at her, his eyes asking to lead the way, which she did, but not before sweeping her gaze across the scene and the party.
The party felt shivers run down their spins as they were swept by her gaze as she walked away.
