The storm was fierce.

The rain was coming down hard, thunder rumbled and flashed in the sky as the waves rose furiously. But the White Whale with its sails folded stood unchanged. The ship's crew was experienced, having sailed the ocean for many years and faced many storms worse than this one.

One part of the crew was resting while the other was in charge of maintaining the ship until it was time to change shifts.
