Chapter 1: Efrien
Back on that day…
Inside a large house, a woman is looking upwards as she's screaming on top of her lungs, her hand is clenching on her husband's hand.
The husband was looking at her wife's sweating and aching face, he was frowning concerningly at her wife's situation.
The old woman was so shocked to see the newborn baby, a smile gleamed on her
lip. "Kamukha niya ang nanay."
A smile creeps on the mother's face, while a scornful smile forms on the father's lip, his forehead is sweating.
"N-No! Hindi!" His voice is shaking, "lahat na lang kamukha niya!"
A prideful breath escapes from the mother's mouth, she turns her face towards him. "Just accept it na kamukha ko talaga ang mga magiging anak natin."
She waves her hair backward with a cheeky smile on her face, the father groans.
After many years have passed…
A young child is going towards his father, he throws his sharp knife towards him.
His father steps aside and he touches and holds the blade of the knife; he turns swiftly towards his son.
He throws it towards his son, whose name is Efrien. Efrien puts his hand inside of his pocket; he grabs a knife from it, then he proceeds to toss it towards the knife coming in his direction.
A force of wind coats his feet and the speed of his movement began to arise, a cheeky smile can be seen on his face.
The father raises his hands; he points it forward towards his son who was covered by the wind.
In-between his hands: a small amount of wind is forming in it, and it forms onto a circle; it became slowly bigger.
Then it transforms onto a beam, it expands largely towards his son's direction.
A crack slowly forms on the ground, breaks out from it with a jump, he's clenching his knife; he rotates swiftly and kicks his father's head.
The father forcefully steps sideward, his son lands on the ground and dashes towards him.
Efrein jumps towards his father; he kicks him but only to be ended by his father's hand: holding his foot.
His eyes widened as a chill was sent to his whole body, his lips quiver.
His father gave him a serious fierceful look. He pulls his son's feet; he sent a strong punch on Efrein's face.
He let go of his foot, only to grab his neck and toss him away, Efrein's body rolls on the ground.
His father did his fighting stance, a breeze of wind was felt by them.
"Hindi na masama, ama!" Efrein smiled, he managed to stand up from the ground.
His father lowers his hands, he asks him. "How did you dig onto the ground? When at the same time you're rushing towards me?"
"Well..." a proud chuckle escapes from Efrein's mouth. "That wind which I used to attack you, was my diversion to burrow onto the ground."
Efrein runs towards him, he punches him using his bare hands and he jumps but his father punched him in his chest, sending him away.
Efrein rotates backward, and he uses his hands to push himself up. Furthermore, he continues to rush towards his father.
"Hindi ka talaga susuko?" the father asked his determined child.
"Hindi!" the son retorted.
The father dashes towards his son. He steps aside as he follows it by a rotation, hence he kicks his son's foot causing him to stumble on the ground.
The father kneels on the ground, and he holds his son's nape; points a knife closer to his back.
Efrein grits his teeth in disappointment to himself, he says sternly. "Suko na ako."
The father stands up, his lip curves upwards as he gazes upon his son.
"Hindi ka dapat ganyan, magpatuloy ka lang sa pagsasanay," the father advised.
Efrein moves his body upwards, he continues to sit on the ground, he heavily exhales.
His father moves his eyes towards his sad and tired son. "To win your battles you must wield your heart."
