Chapter 2: F**king Garp

"Big sis Makino, is that big old man a Marine?"

"Come on, don't talk about Mr. Garp like that Sosuke, but yes, he's a Marine".

"Seems like all the brats these days need my fist of love to set them straight! And who are you calling big old man, huh punk?"

"Damn fat old man"

*BONK*

"That hurt! Why are you hurting me? And why does that fist hurt so much?"

"To teach you respect. There is no defense against a fist of love".

"You're strong old man! Let me join the marines. I want to fight against pirates!"

With this interaction, I had managed to infiltrate the Marines...or so you would think. In reality, it took an in-depth grilling by Garp as well as the revelation I had eaten a devil fruit before it was confirmed that I would be leaving for Marineford next time Garp came around (much to Luffy's dismay, who had already tried to bribe me with the position of first mate on the future pirate king's crew). In fact, I already had a stellar reputation with the villagers of Foosha who sang praises about how despite my hard past I was a good kid who tried his hardest to help others. Well, to understand why you have to understand how I made my way to Foosha...

---------FLASHBACK----------

As I saw what I assumed was Foosha on the horizon, I sliced my left hand with a knife onboard and proceeded to hold the paddle with crook of my arm while going forward. After a few hours, I reached the dock and proceeded to keel over while some concerned samaritans including a familiar green-haired woman ran to me.

Making my voice as raspy as possible I muttered out "Mord...village...they're killing everyone...help" and promptly passed out. Well, that part was realistic I had been bleeding due to the cut the kept reopening and had a hell of a first day in the One Piece world.

-------------END----------------

The tragic backstory did wonders convincing Garp, however I think my stellar reputation backfired...I was too perfect. The villagers reported me as sunny, kind and hardworking since they'd seen my training to "become the strongest marine and become a warrior of justice". The warrior part should earn me some points with Zephyr since that was his dream as a child.

And that's where the problem started. I was TOO problem free. What sort of kid sees all the people he's known his entire life die and is totally fine after 6 months? I knew Garp felt something was up, because for the first day or so he wasn't that keen on me... damn old man's intuition is scary. Anyway, I got the OK from Garp after making up a "diary" that I "put my thoughts in regularly". In true Garp fashion, 3 days after we had met the man gave up on trying to subtly probe me and broke into my room (through the wall, I might add) and came across the diary that was full of self blame.

Good thing I didn't let my guard down and put myself in an illusion of getting cut by a knife every 2-3 nights or so in order to cry. Good thing I did because a week after he read my diary I sensed him outside the room listening to me sob. The next day I was introduced to Dadan, which meant that I had FINALLY gotten the Garp pass.

How I sensed him? My devil fruit, which is perhaps the most broken devil fruit of all time, screw luffy's Nika form. Absolute-mother-f**king-hypnosis, in the form of a devil fruit, is bloody crazy. One, I don't need any Shikai. To control them with absolute hypnosis I need to have all of someone's attention on me while I do the trigger action, which can involve any sense. Essentially, if I am giving a speech or if they hear me talking in any way in person, I can put them under my hypnosis. If I shine a light into their face, hypnosis. If I stab them they'll be under my hypnosis, assuming they pay attention to the stab and don't ignore it, which most people won't. They eat something they associate with me within my range - hypnosis. The hypnosis is latent until triggered but permanent, and does not have any release conditions unless I choose to release them. And the best thing of all, any people in my range who are already "tagged" are sensed automatically, making it like a quasi-observation haki.

The only con (which is pretty balanced really) is that numbers don't seem to matter, only the maximum strength of the people being manipulated and the "difference from expectation of reality". I can manipulate all of Foosha village into thinking theres a huge sea king at the dock all day, but if I want them to see a celestial dragon running laps around Garp who screams out "I'm going to be the pirate king" it is a bit more exhausting though still relatively easy. On the other hand, making Garp see one butterfly made me pass out for a day, though that's not bad for someone who only started building up physical fitness and eating sea kings six months ago.
